Is there going to be a thread for this? Once the show goes up, I think we should have a place to rate the show and for some of us who aren't actually a part of this fed, rate our experience?

Hey Dave, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this. I'd been busy writing the match so I haven't had the time to reply. Why not have everyone just reply to this thread? :)

So what DID everyone think of BATTLEMANIA? It was the first (and probably only time at this point) time the Efed Guerillas podcast has hosted an interfed event. I'll submit my thoughts later, but let's hear yours first!

It was an interesting experience for me, the first time that I have been in an event like this. It was kinda cool to see all the different styles of writing from everyone. I think perhaps a few of the "off-screen" issues detracted from the event somewhat in the long run. I won't go into detail about that because what can be said has already been said ad nausium. As for the match itself, it was fine and had some interesting spots. Particularly liked everyone ganging on Best as that seemed to be the running theme in a lot of the RPs. I was happy with how my character was handled, and felt like a good send off for his final match. On that note, I was pretty stoked at where he finished (tied second overall, if my assumption is correct?) albeit on my part I didn't think it was the strongest UGWC representation. That might just be the writers own worst critic coming out though. Constructively, I would say that there was a little too much time spent on entrances more than the actual fighting. That would be my constructive criticism for this, I would have put in a little more in-ring action.
if this happens again next year, I really hope no more dramas happen to take away from the event.

I enjoyed it :) can be tedious to read at times but I feel like that comes back to a long match and short attention span lol I'm disappointed with my showing cause I don't feel like it was my absolute best but that's all on me.
I thoroughly appreciate the way my eternal rivalry with Ripper was incorporated and I'm stoked that I did even just marginally better than him lol

I'd love to see another interfed event but instead of a giant battle royal, maybe have a couple feds represent with big blow off matches to be judged in this medium- I think that could be really entertaining :)
Would be promotion for feds as well as showcasing talent :)

Just a thought :) overall great event, I don't mind waiting for quality.

Two words: Well, poo.

A few more: 27th out of 30th. About what I expected. Not to sound egotistical, but I enjoyed the beginning exchange between Emevlas (spelled E-M-E-V-L-A-S, I kept noticing an 'I' in her first name there, but it's better than "Ermentrude Christmas-Time") and Mike Best. It gives me a sliver of hope for the future. Though, I figured she would've been in the match longer, going by Jesse's ranking of her (which was 17th, I believe but that's the only ranking I know of as of typing.)

The match overall was all right, not terrible by any means. I agree with what Mr. Cyclone said in that I feel like there was more put into the entrances than some of the match. But what this event did right, it did really right.

Am I butthurt over where I placed? No, I shouldn't be, nor am I. A lot of these guys have been doing this for years, and I've only been doing this for about three months, of course I won't do as well as they will. Like I've said before, I'm just glad to have been the first to sign up.

I'll be around next year, though I'm not sure who I'll be using.

I’m gonna give you my honest and true feelings regarding every aspect that I can think of when it comes to BATTLEMANIA. If you don’t consider this feedback then by all means don’t, but there’s plenty to get through here and I feel like it all needs to be said.

I’m gonna try and keep name dropping to a minimum in instances where it might seem like I’m calling someone out, but I’m also going to make reference to several people directly. If you think you might get butthurt by reading some comments from some douchebag on the Internets then please skip my post.

The Match
A 30 man battle royal that all takes place in the space of 32 pages? Tell me again how this took 3 weeks (plus 4 days beyond the strict deadline that you set yourselves) to write?

The action was lacklustre, the entrances were waaaaay too close together, eliminations were waaaaaay too understated and the whole things just felt like ‘pfft, here you go, we got something done at last.’

In DEFIANCE James and I just managed to write a 28 page match in 2 weeks involving two people, and I’m not even trying to brag about that. That’s nothing. James has single handedly written a 50 page match in the same time frame with the same number of competitors. All I’m saying is imagine the length a match with 30 people in it could be. Sure it’d be more work, but if you’re organising it then you’ve got to be willing to put the man hours in.

There were points in the match where absolutely nothing happened for “2 minutes.” There’s no denying that.

“5…”

“4…”

“3…”

“2…”

“1!”

“Charisma” by WASP. Boos from the crowd.

T. Gordon: “Entering at number 20, from Stuart, Florida… Representing LoC… DERECHO!”

Derecho came running out and slid into the ring, quickly rallying up some troops to break up Mark Kingston’s attempt at a double underhook powerbomb and usher him toward the ropes. Ian Bishop, Ataxia, and Matt Meyhu all joined in, trying to shove Kingston over the top rope. On the other side of the ring, J.B. Ronie, Eugene Dewey, Stacy Jones, and MJ Bell had conglomerated around Mushigihara.

EGL: “Unfortunately, much like how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of Tootsie Pop, the world may never know if Kingston can lift Mushi for a double underhook powerbomb! But now two groups have formed to try to get both of the big men out!”

Each group struggled to throw its target over the top rope. This went on for a couple of minutes.

“5…”

“4…”

“3…”

“2…”

“1!”

“King of the World” by Porcelain and the Tramps played in the Jungle.

Derecho comes in and… nothing. Nothing happens until the next guy comes in. If I was in the crowd for those 2 minutes I’d be booing my arse off.

Eliminations though were even worse. I hate to say it (mainly because he’s from HOW and HOW paid the Iron Sheik to tweet shit about one of DEFs staff members and a friend [srsly, like wtf was that about]) but Mike Best clearly thought of himself, and he might have been right, as the guy to beat. He was EGL’s pick to win at the start of the thing, and his elimination came… from someone grabbing his feet and pushing him over the top… Ok, forgetting the crap elimination that nobody in any royal rumble ever has ever suffered, yeah, sure. That’s a big moment. That deserves to be played up, right?

No. He’s out now. That’s it, done.

There were some big (tall and built like a brick shithouse) guys in this thing, why didn’t someone like Mushigihara get the chance to come in and instantly change the shape of the match by eliminating a couple of guys in quick succession? I don’t think that happened at all in the whole thing, and that’s a big problem for me, because a battle royal should have somebody go on a rampage and eliminate several people in a row. That just didn’t happen here.

The Competitors
If I had to describe the list of competitors in one word I’d have to use ‘Underwhelming’. That’s not meant as a knock on everyone else in the thing, I’m sure you’re all Ron Burgundy in your respective circles, but considering there were 29 other people involved and I’d heard of roughly 8 of them before (including the 2 others from DEFIANCE) I don’t think there is another word that I can use.

Instantly the thing took a nose dive for me. Call me lazy, call me anything, I wasn’t about to go traipsing through 15 different feds to find out information on everyone involved. I wasn’t going to go around looking to see who was champion in their fed or where they fell in the undercard. I’d say that was a job for the judges, but when the judges host a podcast all they can say is “Then we’ve got XXX from ABC fed… I don’t know much about this guy.” Then you’ve got serious problems.

There were big names lacking from this thing, and that really, really hurt it. Both from an attraction standpoint and from an excitement standpoint.

That brings me onto the next section.

The RPing
I was not impressed. I’ve seen people saying the standard of the RPing was high for this, but I don’t agree. Early RPs were littered with spelling and grammatical mistakes. People posted RPs with uninspired settings and unimaginitive stories. People wrote absolute dross with ‘jokes’ that were there purely for shock value.

To an outsider I’m aware I could be seen as guilty of it myself, but I tried to explain in my RP, to the best of my ability, that this was the first time I’d written an RP for the first time in 19 months and that I was going back to my roots by doing so. Hence the return to Eugene’s home. Hence the numerous references to 19 months. The problem there is, and I’m sure this is true for everyone else in the thing, those references can easily be lost on someone not familiar with the character.

Did someone else do the same thing? I dunno, I don’t know everyone’s characters. Did the judges know what I was doing? Again, I dunno, I don’t know how familiar they are with Eugene.

And therein lies the problem.

With a 1 RP limit we had to throw all our eggs in one basket and try to get our character over, our intentions over, talk about our hopes and dreams and maybe talk a little bit of trash in the meantime. All in 3000 words as well. Now I know that’s plenty of words and very few people used all 3000, but the longer you ramble on the more chance you’ve got of losing your reader, and the more detail you put in the more chance you’ve got of confusing, or worse boring them.

One of DEF’s handlers had a fantastic idea saying we should have had 2 RPs each with 1500 words. I’d like to expand that and say that we should have had two roleplay periods. One to post our opening statements and the second to reply to anything said to or about us in someone elses first and to expound on anything said in our first. It would have broken an awful lot up and made everything a heck of a lot more interesting.

Without back and forth (trash talk didn’t count, remember) we all had the same thing to RP about, and everyone saying the same things gets pretty damn dull if you ask me.

I know we’ve talked about the use of colour as well, but i’m going to provide my feedback for anyone that used colour in their RP. So here it goes.

Stop it.

If you need to use colour to indicate who is speaking in your RP then you’re doing it wrong. It’s not a writing method, it’s not a technique, it’s not a nuance, it’s lazy. Would that shit be accepted in Keegan’s English classes? No, it wouldn’t. You’d be told to write properly. There were RPs out there where, if you took the colour away from them, there were passages where you simply couldn’t tell who was talking.

That’s not being creative, that’s laziness because you can’t think of anything more interesting to write than “XXX said” over and over again.

The Production
KEEP US INFORMED.

If the deadline has passed and the show isn’t posted then try letting us know. We got an update on Friday saying Saturday or Sunday. That then turned into Monday, then Wednesday at the latest. Sure posts were made, but the number of people asking about it, much like the rent, was too damn high.

Why was a promise made for Saturday or Sunday when the match was only half finished on Monday? Why was it only half finished on Monday? Why wasn’t it half finished 2 mondays earlier?

The fact that we’re none the wiser proves communication was a problem during the production process, but it also serves as a spit in the face to all of us that worked to get an RP up before the ever so strict deadline that almost saw an RP disqualified for being one minute late.

BTW, at the time, that was the right call. We were told it was a strict deadline, so removing the minute late RP was right by the rest of us that posted on time. I’m glad Lord Raab’s RP counted in the end because the 4 day delay in posting the show would have been a massive middle finger to his handler to tell him that he couldn’t compete for being one minute late but the writers of the match can pretty much do whatever they want.

The Drama
Ewrestling and drama go hand in hand, and they have done since the dawn of time. Everyone in the hobby has an ego and nobody likes to lose. That said there were people out there playing all kinds of games and posturing themselves in all kinds of ways to make it look like they either got screwed over, or that they didn’t care about late results and you guys take all the time you need to make the best possible show which I’m sure it will be *kiss kiss kiss*, or subtly calling people out on being ass kissers while sucking up themselves.

The best course of action? Stay the fuck out of it. That goes for the handlers and that goes doubly for the judges.

There was absolutely no need for Jesse to start the thread in response to Mike Best’s tweets about being screwed. There was absolutely no need for him to post his list of rankings and there was absolutely no need for him to engage Mike when he came back to defend himself and devolve the whole thing into a dick slinging/mud measuring contest.

The Judging
I can’t comment on this. The only way that I can is if every single judge posts every single thought of every single roleplay and makes all of them visible to everyone.

We shouldn’t need to ask for feedback from individual judges, we should be given that information freely. We need to know that winners weren’t pulled from asses and that there was a reason someone was picked over another person. The only way to do that is to get feedback read through it. That puts an end to any possible drama as well because that’s like, your opinion man, and nobody can tell you an opinion is wrong.

I know for a fact that I’m very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very eager to hear why Jesse rated me where he did. But I also want to know why he rated the person he thought won it as his winner, just as I am interested in hearing about everyone else from 2 through 29.

Regardless of where I can I believe the right person won it. SJH did a great job with his RP and I don’t think there was anyone out there as entertaining, as funny, or as gripping as him. The right person won the top prize and that’s the main thing. But everything else needs work before you should consider even doing this again, let alone increasing the number of competito

Just here to point out that Hart won Battlemania and LoC's Legacy Championship in the same week.

So ... this is the end then, huh? I still had so much to accomplish. Oh well, world couldn't last forever. :p

All good points. Without getting into a ton of detail, this all reminded me why I should've stopped getting involved in the running of interfed stuff after Ultratitle.

Anyways, here's the notes I took on the RPs, as I read them. If people want to know how I ranked everyone, I'd be happy to post that, otherwise this list is literally just "the order in which I read them. And I had a tie for first - Shawn Hart and Eden Morgan. Everyone else is somewhere down the line.

Mike Best:

This would’ve been a decent intro RP for a new fed: you discuss who you are and why we should care, then you get far too inside and far too ‘too hip for the room.’ In telling us why you’re awesome and don’t care if we agree with you, you’re letting me know that you desperately care. It’s effective if it’s done well, but godawful rehashed tripe if it’s not. What really sealed it for me was the fact that – instead of telling us why you’re going to beat your opponents (outside of the ‘I’m Mike Best’ stuff), you told us about all the different stereotypical wrestlers that show up to events like this, thus becoming a stereotype yourself. I think this would’ve been more effective if you’d used 2,950 words to describe The Awesome of Mike Best and had a throwaway at the end about how you’ve got twenty nine people to make you look even better. Props for the 2.0 Pac line, though.

Amber Ryan:
I hate to tell you but on my first reading, I had no idea who the main character was supposed to be or what connection this had to EFG Battlemania. This is the post that made me open up the bio first, then the RP so I could keep track of who was who.

Emelvas Stastias:

John Cena. CM Punk. JBL. Chris Benoit. WWF. Next.

Shawn Jessica Bubbles Hart:

The following exchange was the first actual laughing – out – loud moment for me reading RPs:
RIVIÈRE: ”Hah! Sorry there, big guy. I went to the Derecho school of public speaking.”

SJH: ”It shows, nnndaddio. Heh, y'know... I still don't really know whether it's actually pronounced Derrick-o or Duh-RAITCH-o.”

RIVIÈRE: ”I think it's Derecho.”
It’s a realistic slapstick type of exchange that highlights both the nature of the game and puts over SJH as a serious athlete with a whimsical side. On one hand, it’s all over the place with the character not committing to whatever role it is that he plays. On the other… that’s what Shawn Hart does. Aces.

Jason Orion

It was good. I liked the story parallel, but I think the point would’ve been made just as well if you hadn’t blatantly spelled it out “No, I’m not Spider-man.” I think it would’ve worked better, because I was already there and enjoyed the journey you were taking me on. That somewhat took me out of it. Not all the way, I think it was a RP that could’ve beaten almost anyone in this thing (if it wasn’t everyone vs. everyone), and was top ten for me at least.

Derecho

Intense, as always – but to me, one dimensional. I know that’s Derecho – intense, serious, and focused, but he’s talking about being ‘forever’ in his world and reshaping Battlemania in his world’s image, etc. Calling attention to himself by making fun of everyone else that’s calling attention to themselves is effective, if not original. Opponent breaking, but not completely world breaking. Good job, though.

Ian Bishop

This RP contains a progression that makes me shake my head. Starting with the sexy naked woman doesn’t tell me that Ian Bishop has a way with the ladies – it tells me that he wants us all to know he has a way with the ladies. I’m also not much of a fan of the ‘clueless woman ornament’ archetype – the woman who asks all the questions so the wrestler can give all the exposition in a natural, conversational way. Unfortunately, it never comes off like that. If this woman is in a relationship with Ian Bishop, she knows most of the answers to the questions she was asking already, which means she’s “acting for the camera” even though there’s no camera there. Takes me right out of it.

Aidan Morag

Misspellings are a huge pet peeve of mine – “Aiden tries to speak but her stammers through it” was an easy one to fix, which implies no proofreading. To me, this was another RP where the hero bangs some girl whose name he doesn’t even know and he spent some time in prison. I find that setup to be as bland as beige wallpaper. The CD setup was longer than the promo part of the RP: that would work in a fed where there’s a longer story being told, but when it’s one and done, to be honest, I don’t care about Aiden’s ghosts, or his girlfriend, or his heroin addiction, or his prison time, except as it relates to Battlemania, and you did not tie them together.

Mark Kingston

Not bad. Good mix of character development and match relevance, and even the CD portion was relevant to the match itself. Interesting approach with Kingston literally writing his promo, but opening up a browser tab to ‘submit it’ was a bit much and made me think “So, is Mark Kingston a wrestler, or is he an e-fedder?” It was a weird disconnect. I think this would’ve been more impactful if Kingston had typed it up and just left it on the screen, like he’s getting back into the swing of the business and he’s getting his thoughts down before cutting his promo.

Blue Suede Bruce

I was prepared to groan at reading another sex scene in a RP, but the disinterested wrestler and the annoyed prostitute was a nice twist on things and I again found myself laughing very hard at the whole ridiculous scenario. When I read the line “skinny, sorry excuse for a rocker, Marilyn Manson,” I was wondering in what decade this took place where Manson could be considered skinny, then I decided it was perfectly all right because he was being compared to Fat Elvis. No worries. Unfortunately, by the time we got to Dustin Diamond’s leopard print thong the name dropping had reached ridiculous proportions (Why would Wayne Newton interview someone?). Still, very very entertaining.

Stacy Jones

On the flipside of the “hot girl in bed who doesn’t do much but take up space,” is the stereotypically female wrestler. Kidnapped? Check. Multiple times? Check. Miscarriage? Check. Tragedy = depth is a fallacy and is a shortcut to a supposedly well-rounded character. Adding to that is Jones’ comments about Scott Stevens, his sexist, homophobic face making him a sexist, homophobic prick. Any cameraperson worth their money would’ve said ‘cut’ and reminded her that she shouldn’t use such a specific insult so close together. Good effort, but it fell flat to me.

Al Envy/Austen Impact

Since you wrote your RPs together, I’m reviewing them together – and I think you two may need couples therapy. Al’s RP was mainly a love letter to Austen Impact. Austen Impact, your RP was all about the TV show CHOPPED and dealing with Al’s unrequited love. It’s not what I’m looking for in a match RP, though Austen Impact gets higher ratings than Al Envy due to the CHOPPED reference.

Mushigihara

I like the way Eddie Dante cut the promo, so to speak, as the manager/advance man for Mushigihara – but it felt less like a promo and more like a “These other guys from Defiance are awesome.” The promo did not feel like it was for Battlemania – more like “This is a Defiance RP and everyone from Defiance is awesome, also we’re in this interfed match.” I feel like we could’ve seen more focus on Battlemania, and less on “These guys from DEF are cool.”

Reya Serra Jannason

“Thirty is the new twenty” – In professional wrestling, ‘twenty’ usually means rookie and prone to make mistakes, while ‘thirty’ usually means “hitting your prime.” What message are you trying to leave us with? Interesting approach, though – telling us about the lightning strike and the other similar matches you’ve been in. However, you’re also telling us that you never won a World Championship and you’re ambiguity on the other similar matches tells us that you never won them. You run down a list of “sadistic/masochistic” matches you’ve been in but remind us that you are and have always been a technical wrestler. As far as masochistic is concerned, I don’t think it means what you think it means. I don’t really feel like this RP has decided what it wants to be, and giving multiple sides of an absolute hurt you in the end.

JB Ronie

The ‘scene wipe’ in the middle of the RP was abrupt and minor enough that I actually missed it on my first read-through and was trying to figure out who the RP was about. It was well written enough, however it seems to be more of a transitional piece that would be good to explain a continuing story in a fed – it does not translate as well to a one-and-done event.

Chris King

Interesting stream – of – consciousness approach. I enjoyed it very much and would have possibly pushed it up one except for one comment:
Sure I could get on the internet and play Indy wrestling bully and type up and post bad reviews on some of the retards in BATTLEMANIA but what does that prove? It wouldn’t boost my ego like it does some of them. They even reply with capital, bold or colorful not so witty retorts.
Veiled references to “This is all just a game we play on the internets” doesn’t sit well with me.

Eugene Dewey

Exceptional work. Background on your character, what they’re doing now, what their goals are, and how they hope to accomplish. Of course, I’m a mark for an Ultratitle shoutout, but at the same time, the character development – to – match – relevance ratio was perfect, and there were a few inside moments that made me laugh. Excellent work.

Matt Meyhu

Top Gun is overrated.

MJ Bell

I loved this piece. I would’ve ranked you higher if it wasn’t for a variety of misspellings and improper grammar usage. The semi – monologue style is one of my favorites.

Jordan King

The unique setup (as far as the rest of the RPs are concerned) works in your favor. News coverage of the character’s departure for Battlemania both presented realistically and with background that makes sense. My only real critique is that there was a lot of talking about King as a wrestler but very little of substance from him, himself. The retirement announcement was somewhat generic – I’ve been doing this for a long time, this is one more match, thanks for everything, etc. There wasn’t much of a sense to me of what he accomplished, what he failed to accomplish, why this last match means so much and why THIS match is the last one, etc. Still, overall a great piece.

Scott Stevens

This was less about who you are and what you’re going to bring to Battlemania and why you’re part of it, and more a recruitment video for the Cult of High Octane Wrestling. I don’t think it occurred to you that if a judge didn’t consider HOW to be the End All and Be All of Fantasy Wrestling, or if a judge didn’t consider HOW at all – what’s left? I’m glad you’re proud of your home fed, but this is a post that should be on the HOW homepage, not an unaffiliated interfed event where we’re looking for the whole package of who you are in 3000 words or less, not a HOWentology celebrity center.

Eden Morgan

The perfect mix of serious and snark. You let us know who you are, where you’re from, why you’re in the match, what you bring to the table, what your advantages are, and your critiques of your opponents gives a continuity to the story of the match. My only critique was that you used more than a third of your word limit describing the scene – however that’s the nature of a dark, gothy character. Lots of show, lots of feelings, lots of “I’m more gothier than you” attitude, and it didn’t take away from what was said at all. Besides, calling out Tim Curry as the devil in Legend is always great.

Dave Rydell

The promo part of the RP was decent, if a bit generic. I didn’t get a sense of character or motivation, outside of “I’m a wrestler and I want to win, and I know some of the participants.” The part that I felt hurt you was the setup – it was all very stilted, unnatural dialogue. The way it was written it was as if the manager and the wrestler were following a script and playing to the camera like one of the commercials in the Ghostbusters movies. We’re supposed to believe that Dave’s manager doesn’t know he’s in the Battlemania match? And if he doesn’t know, why didn’t Dave tell him? Are they having problems? We’re asked to accept too much non-realism.

“Ripper” Danny B

This RP failed to hold my attention. The sentences were run – on, the dialogue was flowery and unnatural, and I was unable to differentiate between the wrestler speaking and the narration – they were written in the same voice. When there is very little happening in the way of “what’s going on while the wrestler is talking,” less is more – this felt artificially inflated to look longer, which hurts what content of note there is.

Amp

Things are misspelled, which is a hot issue for me. Beyond that, there’s very little substance. This RP can pretty much be summed up: “I’m Amp, the Living Legend. I’m a sociopath who gets off on causing other people physical, mental, and emotional pain, and I’m going to win Battlemania but I need to stretch this out for three thousand words.”

Lord Raab

You said you didn’t proofread, and it shows. There are certain passages where I’m not sure what it is you’re actually trying to say – if anything. The first half of the RP is the “expositional conversation” that either shows a manager who doesn’t know what his charge is up to (thus, a terrible manager), or a conversation that takes place for the benefit of the hidden cameras, which neuters Raab’s aura, that not only is he a feared and violent wrestler, but that he’s a lifestyler. He’s also wordy for a guy who just wants to hurt people. You might do better to have Raab be the silent but violent type and have a manager character to do the talking for you.

Ataxia

I don’t get it. I get the attitude and the dismissal of the consequences of the match, but for a guy who doesn’t care what happens, he’s spending a lot of time, and a lot of money on a camera crew and visual effects to tell us he doesn’t care. And was the crew made aware that they’re working on a fetish porn video where some crazy guy literally fucks himself? I know it’s wrestling and it’s a show and it’s ‘scripted’ but this post was too much in too many different directions and I feel like it never really decided what kind of promo it was going to be.

James Jackson

Positives: Short and to the point. No wasted words. Negatives: You didn’t say much and you didn’t really give us a sense of who this character is, except for ‘the son of a wrestler.’ Could’ve been more.

Casanova English

The CD portion of the post gave us a good indication of what drives English to do what he does, though things are misspelled and long winded in the promo portion. By not addressing any opponent directly (and I don’t mean replying to something each one said individually) – and by mentioning Battlemania only in your first line - you come off like an olde-tyme wrestler cutting twenty promos, all in a row, for whatever city airs your company. While it’s not necessary to get into character histories with everyone for a one and done event, the way you dismissed “29 faded prima donas” (misspelling left intentionally) and the fact that you call yourself a “soldier of change, bringing forth a revolution” without following up as to how you see your opponents that way or how you’re a revolutionary – it’s all just empty words.

I dig this guy's feed back so gonna add my comments to his comments below in RED. Before I do, Iw ant to say that you should NEVER run another tournament. Especially for cash. NONE of you are deep enough into the hobby right now to even be taken seriously. And this? I'd be surprised if people didn't just stop listening to EFG.

I have.

Ona side note.. FUCK Jorden Snow, and FUCK everyone who sucked his cock after I sit here and fucking TOLD you he would do this shit to you. I fucking WARNED you. I fucking pointed out how he was. And you guys let him in with open arms. Sucked his cock and then he fucked you.

Thanks for listening to your buddy Ben.

I call bullshit too. In 2 days I judged, with full feedback, and wrote a 40 person rumble recently. There is absolutely NO reason, even with people going MIA, this should have taken MULTIPLE people WEEKS.

The action was lacklustre, the entrances were waaaaay too close together, eliminations were waaaaaay too understated and the whole things just felt like ‘pfft, here you go, we got something done at last.’ Also right on the fucking money. Seriously... there were so many parts where it was intro.. he get sin ring and punches, intro. I get we use our imagination, but shit. Seriously Ernie, shoulda asked me tow rite this.

Derecho comes in and… nothing. Nothing happens until the next guy comes in. If I was in the crowd for those 2 minutes I’d be booing my arse off. Yep

I agree fully. Mike best, as hyped as he was throughout.. his elimination should have ment something. I had my #2 guy last an hour in my match and when he was eliminated it was huge. You basically fucked Best out of great heat.

I did this as well and wondered why you guys didn't. Did you not watch any rumbles in preparation tow rite this?

The Competitors
If I had to describe the list of competitors in one word I’d have to use ‘Underwhelming’. That’s not meant as a knock on everyone else in the thing, I’m sure you’re all Ron Burgundy in your respective circles, but considering there were 29 other people involved and I’d heard of roughly 8 of them before (including the 2 others from DEFIANCE) I don’t think there is another word that I can use. Doesnt matter that I haven't heard of a lot of the people, what matters is how terrible they are. Some of the fed heads should have advised against these people going out and embarrassing themselves.

You're not lazy, the judges/writers where.

There were big names lacking from this thing, and that really, really hurt it. Both from an attraction standpoint and from an excitement standpoint. What happens when you let any tom, dick, and harry sign up.

There were like MAYBE 6 people who wrote good rps. Everyone else needs to go back into retirement or go play in their forum feds and not embarrass themselves anymore.

A major one.

This makes how fucked this event was all around even worse.

Because almost everyone in was uncreative and a shitty writer.

I know we’ve talked about the use of colour as well, but i’m going to provide my feedback for anyone that used colour in their RP. So here it goes.

Stop it. THANK YOU. FUCK OFF WITH YOUR FUCKING COLOR BULLSHIT. FOCUS ON BEING A FUCKING BETTER WRITER. NOT A GOD DAMN FINGER PAINTER.

Simply means you are a bad writer and uncreative. Fuck you if you have a problem with that.

Because the people running this have no idea how to do so and are too far out of the fucking loop of our hobby.

Why was a promise made for Saturday or Sunday when the match was only half finished on Monday? Why was it only half finished on Monday? Why wasn’t it half finished 2 mondays earlier? I'm sure we'll hear stupid fucking excuses. I dont go to bed till my show is up EVERY WEEK.

The fact that we’re none the wiser proves communication was a problem during the production process, but it also serves as a spit in the face to all of us that worked to get an RP up before the ever so strict deadline that almost saw an RP disqualified for being one minute late. They think we put our trust into them because they run EFG. THIS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COVER ANYTHING. For a matter a fact, other than a couple selected people, EFG shows the same disorganization and terrible output as this tournament did.

The judges were even worse. WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU DISCUSSING BEHIND THE SCENES SHIT WITH HANDLERS BEFORE THE SHOW GOES UP?

There was absolutely no need for Jesse to start the thread in response to Mike Best’s tweets about being screwed. There was absolutely no need for him to post his list of rankings and there was absolutely no need for him to engage Mike when he came back to defend himself and devolve the whole thing into a dick slinging/mud measuring contest. Absolutely. I love Jesse, but that was immature and reflects badly on him and EFG.

The Judging
I can’t comment on this. The only way that I can is if every single judge posts every single thought of every single roleplay and makes all of them visible to everyone. It was piss pore and multiple judges didnt even do theirs/finish. This whole tournament is a sham.

Exactly. Feedback SHOULD be posted publicly. Especially with a cash prize. I dont trust ANY of you fuckers judging. hence why I told my people to NOT be in this.

But everything else needs work before you should consider even doing this again, let alone increasing the number of competito[/QUOTE]

I love all the piling on and the "I would have done it better." There were problems and differences of opinions as there are in every big event, whether in a fed or interfed.

And Ben, you know I'm a fan, but if you "told my people to NOT be in this," then you don't really have any standing to post feedback. You do a great job with UTA, but I don't blow in there and poke holes in what I might not like.

If you didn't like it, then move on to next thing and make a mental note that you don't want to do BATTLEMANIA again. The players were clear, the rules were clear and no one is "owed" anything beyond the prizes that were promised. This isn't "teach you to roleplay" or "stroke your ego"-land; it was a competition. The judges don't owe anything beyond judging how they saw fit. They don't owe you a treatise on whether they like or don't like colored roleplay or whether they thought you broke the fourth wall or why they ranked you 26th instead of 27th. Because all that really boils down to for some of you is you want a reason to argue or a reason to go back into your corner and talk shit about what they said.

We've got a few folks in this thread who love to tell people to man up or to "do something," and then shit all over it when they don't like something. You don't like it? Fine. You want to say your piece respectfully? Fine. Beyond that, I'll make sure to give you what you're owed.

Fuck it.

People aren't allowed to express their feelings. No need for my feedback. Sorry if I take offense to so many people being fucked over during this.

Deleted my other shit from here. If you want to see my original feedback, hit me up. Otherwise, go write about sunshine and ponies.

Okay, I've kept quiet from defending myself from what some people have said here because I'm not one to actively seek out conflict but since this is now over and because people are still running their mouths, I'm going to speak up.

I am one of these people who used colour in my RP, I don't do it to try and make it look better or whatever, I use colour because I fucking want too and I have always done it and really, only till I came here, there seems to be a big fucking huge issue with it.

Now I've always been a rather modest person when it comes to my writing in the feds I've been in, but Ben, how fucking dare you say that most of the people writing in this match are shitty uncreative writers. This is a fucking hobby and people should be entitled to write however they fucking want without having to deal with dick heads like you completely putting them down just because they use colours or whatever. Who the fuck made you the king of what makes good writing good?

By the sounds of it, a lot of people here take this 'game' way too fucking seriously and are all bursting fucking blood vessels over petty little things like people using colour in their RP's. Grow the fuck up...if people want to use colour, they have every fucking right too, if you're not a fan, fair enough, if you're going to mention that you don't like it, explain it in a pleasant mature way rather than just stating that everyone who does it is an uncreative, shit writer. It's unprofessional and unnecessary.

I was really looking forward to this, I thought it was going to be a cool thing to be involved in and I was interested to see how other writers from other feds thought of my RP's. I didn't come here to get completely fucking ridiculed and referred to as a shitty uncreative writer just because I used fucking colour.

If this thing does continue (which it probably won't because of how many fucking arse holes have been bitching, whining and complaining about tons of shit that doesn't fucking matter because again, this thing is a fucking game!) at first I was considering signing up for it again, but unless there are some different people signing up for the next one if there is a next one, you know, mature people who don't completely stomp over people like they're a pile of dog shit just because they want to use colour in their RP's, maybe I will sign up.

Quite frankly though, all this shit posted on this thread along with the crap that happened earlier between Jesse and Mike Best has put me off being involved in anything like this again.

So in closing, thanks to the people in charge for giving me this opportunity, I did have some fun at the beginning of it, now I'm going to go back to the fed I'm currently in, you know, a place that doesn't shit all over you for using colours in RP's and are actually full of mature adults who realize this whole thing is a game.

God, people are really are something, huh.

I think there has been some valid feedback left here. I didn't participate, but I did watch from the outside (felt I had to after causing the forums to break twice :p). I'm not saying that not all of the feedback is unwarranted ... but...

Seriously, there's leaving feedback and there's being an asshole.

Telling people they suck, need to go back into retirement, they're uncreative, no one listens to EFG after this, you don't trust the judges, that this is a sham, etc. etc? That's assholery.

Glass houses, folks. Glass houses. Because there was a time years ago when people wouldn't touch your shit with a 10ft pole.

Ben, ya got personal, and now Uncle Chad has you in his sights.

DELETING POSTS WILL NOT SAVE YOU!!!

:)

I'm just trolling.

But seriously, that match reeked.

One thing I know. If you're gonna be late in a format where you insisted on strict time accountability for handlers in delivering results, those results better be something fucking special.

If that match had been great, 99% of these complaints would have been moot.

But I won't back down on the nonsense that is Eugene Dewey being that low. Nope nope nope.

Stacey, you say people take this too seriously and call someone out for being "unprofessional." This is a fucking hobby, not a job. Mmmmmkay? Can't take some shit I suggest finding a new hobby.

I made Ben the King. I knighted him. He bent his knee and I put my dick on his shoulder to make him king. He was sharing his opinion and you and Chad and everyone else who can't take criticism come in and crucify him. That's messed up.

"OH BUT NO ONE TOUCHED HIS SHIT 10 YEARS AGO" - that's when I was on Zine like every day so jog on, whomever said that.

This was a great idea until like nearly every other Interfed event ever it got fucked up by the people running it mailing it in. Can't hack it don't do it. That simple.

The fact that CASH MONEY was on the line here is laughable.

Sincerely, unprofessional Jason.

As far as the Eugene Dewey thing goes, he wasn't the bottom of my list. Ernie reconfigured the Google Doc and I didn't know that when I posted my list. So, it's a bit askew. As far as the results go, there may have been weeks for certain people to work on them. It wasn't my job to have anything to do with the results, I jumped in to help on Monday and I did the best I could from that point to give an accurate update on when the results would be finished.

As far as my judging goes, that's simply it. I judged reading the RPs and shooting from the hip on which ones I felt were better in my opinion of keeping me interested and wanting to read them. I do not have any feedback like other judges may, I just read and ranked.

As far as the drama situation goes, it wouldn't have boiled down to what it did if a few things had happened. #1) If whoever it was that felt it necessary to talk about my judging ticket had kept there mouth shut, and it had to have been one of a very select few that could see the Google Document that started it, and from the looking into that has been done on the situation it's been all but confirmed that the talk all started about it from UTA and trickled down from there and #2) If Mike Best had came to me in a private message about the situation instead of just posting on his Twitter about me personally and out of character.

How I judged was not out of malice toward anyone and I was not playing favorites. The biggest reason I posted, or tried to post my ticket was to show that, considering I had my own fed head ranked in the middle of the pack.

If people think the match sucked, then I apologize for my contribution, but I did the best I could to help get the match done and written in the two days that I was involved and I think I did a pretty good job pushing the process along.

One question why did you use my name and not my characters name?

Also, that statement was due to the Mark Kingston on the computer part of his rp.

it's been all but confirmed that the talk all started about it from UTA and trickled down from there and

I see.

Totally right, many people being upset is completely my e-fed's fault.

Chad didn't like the way I handled it on the site he pays for and runs, so i respectfully pulled it off of his server. From what I can see, it's on you people now.

----

As for Stacy's reply right below this one (I'm editing and not replying after) Sorry if i offended you. I was shooting from the hip as I was overly offended about this entire situation, and took it out on the handlers, who now that I have calmed down, I should not have. This was not your fault. This was the people running it's fault.
