Do people really think that we are our characters?

According to the roleplay I just read, the answer to that is yes.

I'm not sure what else to add to this.

Some people really do cross the line that blurs their RL with their characters... but come on Justin, this can't be new to you over all these years :)

Just read on Zine where another handler is pulling out.....because their match didn't get discussed much on the podcast or something.

Wow.

Said handler has been largely ignored in all of the podcasts and has lost the will to continue since he can get no feedback whatsoever and he's been written off as "definitely going to lose" three rounds in a row now.

Deal with it.

Write a roleplay about it, even.

I was in a tournament a few years ago where most of the people involved predicted against me all the through like 5 rounds. I stuck with it, had a good deep run to the final fourway match, and made a couple fans from it. Although I, myself, never thought Jeff Andrews was "definitely going to lose." I think I had him beating round 1 on my bracket but losing to Voss in round 2. It was one of the toughest calls for me to make and I knew those two would do something really close and really good when I saw the lineup.

I'm pretty sure Ford talked about his match on Efed Guerillas.

And I think it especially sucks for Voss if Andrews drops out because Andrews beat him. It's like, "Yeah I'm going to ruin YOUR chances and then just give up."

Nobody thought I could beat Suicide in round 1 but I did. Everyone then thought if I did make it through round 1 I wouldn't get by Joe the Plumber in round 2. But guess what? Joe didn't even RP in round 1, so August Joyce beat him. Then I beat August Joyce and I wholly intend to try as hard as I can against Dave Brunk. I'm not just going to roll over and I don't think Jeff should either. It's disrespectful to the people we've put out of the tournament because you have to believe they'd love to have the opportunity we do.

Jeff is a tremendous roleplayer and he's been on a good run. Not to take anything from Jamar, but I think Jeff has a chance to beat him if he brings it. I think it can be a very close and entertaining bout and I think Jeff should show people why he thinks they're wrong instead of just giving up. Letting what people say or neglect to say decide your actions is not what I want to see from Jeff. Not as a roleplayer and not as someone who admires his character and his writing. The first (and only) time I read DEFIANCE I wanted to read more and the biggest part of that was Jeff Andrews vs. CCJ. I've been meaning to read more DEFIANCE but just haven't gotten around to it.

Jeff, I'm going to make this one last appeal to you. RP. Not for you. Not for me. But for all those kids out there. All those kids who look up to Jeff Andrews. All those kids who are going to read UltraTitle and decide to stay off of drugs because there's something else they can do. Do it for those kids out there who need a positive role model. Don't give up. Don't teach them to give up. Do it. For the kids.

I don't usually quit things over butthurt. I've been feeling guilty about neglecting Defiance - the shows are taking 4 weeks to come out, and that's going to continue until Justin and I are done with Ultratitle. And one of Defiance's top handlers, who has the misfortune of sharing my computer, is on break waiting until I'm done with the Ultratitle to come back.

I got frustrated, I spazzed out like an ass, and I apologize to all the people. RPing competitively does this to me, that's why I mostly stick to fedheadding.
