Re: Round 1: The Swerve vs. Troy “The Baller” Franklin

(Things now go back to Baller being young. The last time we left this scene, Baller was getting in the car with his brother's friends. Baller's brother had just been murdered and they were on their way to retaliate.)

Redds: Man when we get here, I don't even want you to get out of the car. We can handle this. No need in you throwing your life away.

Troy: I'm not hearing any of that **** you're saying. These dudes or dude murdered my brother. I'm going to be the one who handles this.

Redds: You really need to chill out man.

Troy: Whatever you say man.

Driver: There them fools go right there.

Redds: Look at these fools slipping.

(The car parks and the driver turns the lights off.)

Redds: Seriously Troy...stay in the car man. We don't have a strap for you anyway.

(Troy agrees to stay in the car, but little do the rest of the guys know, Troy has his own gun. So the four guys step out of the car, while Troy remains in the car. A shootout follows and man the gunfire is like an old western. Troy is about to get out of the car, when his brother's friends run back to the car.)

Redds: I think we got them all.

Mike: I think one got away.

Redds: You sure?

Mike: There was four guys...we only got three.

Redds: Well let's get out of here. We can worry about dude some other time.

Troy: No...we need to get them all.

Redds: Boy chill out!

(The car speeds off.)

Man that was a wild time in my life. It helped mold me into the person I am today though. Would I change that for the world?

(From there Troy's life started going downhill. He was no longer the young neighborhood sports star. He has turned into a THUG...something most of his family tried to keep him from doing. You know see Troy standing on the corner, making that money. He's out there with some of his neighborhood friends...the ones who didn't follow that "right" path.)

Troy: This sure is easy money. I wonder why anyone would want to work when you can make money this easily.

Mark (Troy's friend): It's nice but it can be rough.

Troy: What are you talking about? What can be rough about this?

Mark: You haven't been doing it long enough, that's all. Stay in this game and you'll soon see.

(Troy knows most of the hood looked at him as the savior. A lot of them felt that if Troy made it, they would make it. So taking advice from these dudes is something Baller reclined to do. He would recline even if that advice was good advice.)

Troy: Whatever man.

Mark: There are a lot of people who have lost their lives to these streets. **** it happened to Jeff. Why would you think this life is all gravy? Why do you think Jeff worked so hard to keep you away from this corner? There is nothing but short glory out here in these streets. Soon you're dead or in jail...believe that.

Troy: Well I think I'll take my chances.

Mark: You're your own man...do you.

(Crack head after crack head walk up to Troy. Making money couldn't be any easier. Just then a car pulls up. It's not a crack head. This time its Troy's friend, Dean.)

Dean: Man what are you doing out here?

(Troy walks up to the car. He doesn't want to allow Dean to make the scene too hot. In other words, he doesn't want to draw attention to the corner.)

Troy: Man you need to get out of here. You don't belong out here.

Dean: And you do? Look man this is not you. I know...

Troy: What do you know? You don't know ****. How about you roll man?

Dean: Come down to the gym with me. My man Mitch will show you how to direct that anger.

Troy: Whatever man. I'm in the money making business. Not the wrestling and bull**** business.

Dean: I'm telling you man...give it a chance. Nothing good comes out of this life.

Troy: Later Dean

(Dean just shakes his head but he knows a drug corner is not a safe corner, so he rolls out. And he did that just in time. Next thing you know...here come the jump out boys. For those of you who don't know what that means...well it's the police. The corner clears like a counter top full of roaches when the lights come on. The police have to pick and choose who the chase because there are too many people on the corner. To Troy's luck...no one chased him. Well he thought he was lucky. He would soon find out why he wasn't as lucky as he thought. Later on that night, Troy was sitting at the table, having dinner with his folks. There's a knock at the door. Troy goes to answer the door, while the rest of his family continues eating. A commotion is heard.)

Troy: I didn't do anything!

Voice: Make this easy on yourself.

(Troy's family jumps up to see what was going on.)

Lady: I'm Troy's mom...what is going on?

Police: Your son has a very recognizable face in this area with him being a sports star. He should know that when running from police.

Lady: Running from police?

Police: Would you like to tell your mother or would you like us to tell her.

Troy: Like I said...you have the wrong man.

Police: Mam your son was seen running from a drug corner we busted today.

Lady: My son was in school today. I dropped him off myself.

(Troy looks down in shame.)

Lady: Tell me it's not true Troy.

(Troy doesn't believe in lying to his mom so he doesn't say anything. He puts his head down and is lead out by police. His mom drops to her knees, crying. You now see Baller sitting in a jail cell. An officer walks up. Someone has posted your bail. You can leave. Troy just knew it was his folks but when he got to the lobby, he was surprised to see who got him out. In the lobby was Dean and Brien.)

Troy: What are you two doing here?

Dean: We came to get you out.

Troy: You two paid my bail?

Brien: No but it's paid so be thankful.

(Just then a man comes walking into the scene.)

Man: How's it going Troy?

Troy: It's going good. Who are you?

Mitch: I'm Mitch.

Troy: I've heard a lot about you...nice to meet you. Are you responsible for me being free?

Mitch: Yes I am.

Troy: But why? You don't even know me.

Mitch: But I knew your brother, Jeff. Yeah I used to train him before he got caught up in the streets. I was hoping to help you before you end up like him, god forbid. I've been talking to Dean and Brien about you coming to the gym.

Troy: For what?

Mitch: Do you listen...I just told you. Plus you have what I think are rare athletic skills and I think I can show you what to do with them.

Troy: Do you read the paper man? I don't think I need much help with my skills.

Mitch: Football and basketball, no but I'm a MMA teacher.

Troy: MMA?

Mitch: Mixed Martial Arts. With my teachings I think you can be great.

Troy: Sorry sir but I'm not interested. I'm in need of making money. I have to help take care of the little ones Jeff left here.

Mitch: There's money in fighting. But then again that's only for the good fighters.

Troy: I can be a good fighter...what are you talking about?

Mitch: Be about it...don't talk about it. I don't believe it talk.

Troy: I'll show you.

Mitch: Good...meet me at my gym tomorrow morning. Let's go boys.

(Dean and Brien follow Mitch out the building, leaving Troy there. He feels he kind of owes this man, so he decides that he will show up the next morning.
