::Marx and Jacobs are sitting in the living room and Jacobs is surrounded by a mountain of papers in front of him on the goings on of Empire since Marx has been away::

JONATHAN MARX: I am tan and well rested and finally after a busy month battling against Manson and Rabesque, I am back and I am at 100%. Nobody ever tells you before you sign up to be a wrestler that things all find a way of hitting you at the same time. It is like Satan is booking my schedule. It seems like it has been forever since my last match in Empire.

BRANDON JACOBS: Thankfully it has only been four shows so you aren’t too far behind.

JONATHAN MARX: Empire was very gracious to give me some time off, the way I was going I would have burned out if I didn’t step away. Wrestling is my life but the mind can only take so much. So, what all did I miss since I’ve been gone?

BRANDON JACOBS: Savoy has graced Empire with his presence.

JONATHAN MARX: One of the best in all of wrestling and a future Empire World Heavyweight Champion, mark it down.

BRANDON JACOBS: And Beast is still the Empire World Heavyweight Champion…. BUT we finally have a new Empire Intercontinental Champion…. Sebastian Dodd.

JONATHAN MARX: Good for him, that boy works hard, it is good to see a wrestler have a little success. How exactly has Dodd done match per match since I’ve been gone?

BRANDON JACOBS: He lost to Cross, he lost to JA & Cruise, he won the title from JA, then he lost to Cruise and Douglas where Doe was his partner…

JONATHAN MARX: And before that he hasn’t won a match since July…. But in Dodd’s defense, he has had a lot of hard luck. He has had a lot of bum partners who cost him the match. You think they would raise their game up with the opportunity when they were given the opportunity to wrestle side by side with the Almighty Dodd.

BRANDON JACOBS: You know Jonathan, I have an idea, you should take him on in a handicap match and that way you would be sure to beat him.

JONATHAN MARX: Don’t be cracking wise, Dodd is a hell of a competitor and it is an honor to wrestle him for the Empire Intercontinental Title. But as much as I respect him, as much as I would like to see him succeed, I would love nothing better than to take my title back once and for all. Last time because of Dodd’s interference, I didn’t really have a chance to show the world what I could do or how I could put Empire on the map across the world as champion. But that is my chance to fix my mistakes and set things right….

BRANDON JACOBS: That once when horribly wrong…

JONATHAN MARX: JA can go off and compete for any title he wants, but I want the Empire IC Title because it is the wrestling title. You don’t have to be some hairy roided knuckle dragger to hold it, all you have to do is have it up here ::points to head:: and in here ::points to heart:: Dodd has to look within himself to see if he is really a champion, because any man can win the title, but holding onto it after you have achieved your goal is even harder because all it takes is three second to lose what took a lifetime to achieve.

BRANDON JACOBS: Hopefully for Dodd nobody chairshots his dreams away.

JONATHAN MARX: You can never tell around here, you can never tell…

[Fade in:
We find Sebastian Dodd sitting resting, after having watched the Super Bowl. He looks on having seen the Eagles fall in defeat (OOC: DAMN YOU EAGLES! WHY MUST MY TOWN BE FILLED WITH SORROW!?!?! :) )...seemingly having enjoyed watching the game. He is dressed in his usual non-wrestling attire of sneakers, jeans, and a t-shirt bearing a catchy slogan, in this case "I think...therefore I am not 99% of the planet." He looks to his side at the Intercontintental Championship sitting beside him, and begins.]

Dodd
"You know, I really am very much against drawing parallels between
professional football, and our sport here, the true sport of kings...but
given the circumstances, I'd dare say that it is appropos...

We go into the big event, Russian Roulette...Champion vs. Challenger.
Two of the most technically efficient and proficient men ever to enter
the ring...

Similar to the teams that played last night. And much like that game,
The Super Bowl...Sebastian Dodd expects the champion to triumph. The
challenger will always...ALWAYS be forced into mistakes. It's common
knowledge, the mat game revolves around the challenger having to do more
than the Champion. The Champion is at a distinct advantage. So even
if John Marx is as good a WRESTLER as I am.

He goes into this contest at a SIGNIFICANT disadvantage. There's an
old saying that says the challenger has to beat the champion...and it's
very, very true. I do not have to beat John Marx.

He has to beat me.

And while I have no doubt that you will see alot of the two of us
sharing a mutual admiration for one another and what we bring to the table
technically...make no mistake about it, Sebastian Dodd will walk out of
this match triumphant."

[Dodd tosses the IC Title over his shoulder, looks at it, and taps it a couple of times...]

Dodd
"This match...for THIS title...is a long, long time in the making. This match really was
made months ago when I won an over the top rope battle royal...but
somehow it's taken until now for it to finally happen. Somewhere in
between the Intercontinental Championship made a detour into retardville with
JA, but has since been found, rescued, and returned to it's proper
placement as the title of a true WRESTLER.

And that's why it's a distinct pleasure to have the opportunity to make
my first title defense against John Marx.

And I say first, because that's what it is...the first. Not the only,
not the last...it's a start of the road...I will elevate this
Championship to heights it's never known, and in order to do that, I have to
beat the last REAL Intercontinental Champion...

ONE ON ONE.

Live at Russian Roulette.

Now I'm sure that there are many people out there thinking that my
having this title is a fluke, hell, the IC Championship match is the only
match I can remember winning in the last...well...the recent past.

It would be very easy for me to attribute that to a lack of importance
in matches...or a lack of credible partners, as I have. But in
reality, I think it's something more. I've been craving the chance to face
John Marx. I think that I've been waiting for this match. My career was
sidetracked the moment the stain on the IC Title legacy won the belt
with my errant chairshot. And only now has it truly come full circle,
have the stars aligned, and put the match that was supposed to happen all
along together. And I have every intention now, as I did then, of
beating Johnathan Marx. Make no mistake about it, I think he's a talented
wrestler, and clever enough to have coined the "Almighty Dodd" that so
many after him have pilfered in reference to the EPW Messiah. In
actuality, he was ahead of his time. He knew, even before I did, that I was
the savior, the Messiah, the Almighty god...errr...Dodd himself of this
federation, and as a result, I give credit where it's due, the man
jumpstarted the revolution...and now he finds himself face to face with the best that this, or any wrestling company has ever seen.

And do you know what's odd John...

If one of us should be salivating for this match, it SHOULD be you. It should be somewhere in your head that this is a chance to right a perceived wrong, you know, seeing as it was Seb Dodd's chair swing that took this title from you in the first place. I'm sure you understand by now that it WAS an errant, inadvertant shot.

But regardless, Sebastian Dodd certainly could be seen as the reason that you're not IC Champ anymore. And now you've got your chance to get some measure of revenge...

By taking the title back, by beating the best in all of EPW.

But surprisingly...I think that I want this match as much...if not MORE than you do. Because it was my destiny, it was my RIGHT to beat Johnathan Marx for this title. It wasn't supposed to be JA that I beat for this title.

It was supposed to be YOU.

I was supposed to be able to prove that I was the best technical wrestler by beating the best.

And instead I was robbed of that opportunity...not because *I* hit you with a chair...but because the opportunity was given to a man who didn't even deserve it, and WELL before it was given to me.

But now John...

Now it all changes.

Now the two best WRESTLERS in all of EPW will tie up and battle for the IC Title.

Good luck...you're going to need it."

[Fade.]

::Jonathan Marx is sitting on the edge of his seat watching tapes from Empire when Jacobs walks into the room::

JONATHAN MARX: Jesus Christ, Sebastian Dodd being champion is one of the saving graces of Empire right now.

BRANDON JACOBS: Watching the Empire tapes I had the office send over?

JONATHAN MARX: Empire had this big tournament to find out which venereal disease Beast would battle.

BRANDON JACOBS: The one with the DIS vs. Clapper final?

JONATHAN MARX: Who names themselves the Clap? How do you market that? COME RIGHT DOWN TO YOUR LOCAL ARENA TO CATCH THE CLAP!

BRANDON JACOBS: They are all inbreed hillybillies so they probably already have it.

JONATHAN MARX: The joke is on them, Beast didn’t get his name for his prowless in the ring, that is why he had to legally had to adopt that goat.

BRANDON JACOBS: Now, now, we shouldn’t shame the champion anymore than he has shamed himself.

JONATHAN MARX: That is why I am very glad I am facing Dodd. Dodd may have his share of losses, but I respect him. He has the spirit of a champion. He isn’t sitting there all catty like some jealous woman, saying how much I suck draining all the love I have for this sport out of me by dwelling in this over whelming sea of negativity that seems to be plaguing wrestling wherever I go. I look into Dodd’s eyes and I see a passion for wrestling. I like that, because those kinds of people give you the best challenge.

BRANDON JACOBS: Aren’t you still at least a little bit bitter towards Dodd costing you your title against JA?

JONATHAN MARX: I know I should be angry at Dodd, at least a little bit at Dodd but I am not. That chairshot was meant for JA and because of Dodd’s mistake, he made his own road even longer after he earned the right to face me for the title. But what I am angry about is that I didn’t have the chance to show people what I could do. If there is one bit of advice my father passed down on me as a wrestler who was a star in this business, go out on your own terms and leave no regrets in that ring. I wanted to lose the title when someone was better than me on that given night and EARNED the right to wear the intercontinental title because they were the better wrestler. That never happened and this title has not been whole since that chairshot. This is our chance to finally restore the title to what it should have been and what it should be in the future. Dodd wants to be the man to do that, if circumstances were different, I’d give him my blessing and I will if he beats me, except there is one little problem, that is MY title. I won it by beating Benjamin and I never lost a clean one on one match. I am back now and I am going to take my title back.

BRANDON JACOBS: What is your strategy against Dodd?

JONATHAN MARX: I am going to take him down to the mat and wrestle him until he is exhausted, while he is trying to keep from hurling all over the place and then when Dodd is good and sick and is unable to watch that clock, that match is mine for me to lose.

BRANDON JACOBS: That sort of thing doesn’t happen to champions.

JONATHAN MARX: That is right, it only happens to pretenders to the throne, Dodd is about to find out which one he is.
