Handler Information

Before starting off this application, I do owe you guys an apology for fucking off my last go-round here. I took on more than I could handle at the time writing wise and because I hadn’t been doing much here, I vanished without a peep that was pretty douchy. Justin mentioned to me via PM recently that Defiance will be going full angle fed and I’ve been enjoying what you guys have been putting out so I’m hoping to try my lot again. I will completely understand if you guys would like to kick this to the curb.

NOTE: The bio here is for a Trios team so I will do my best to tailor the app to the overall players involved.

Name: Seth Sheehan
Email Address: sheehanseth at gmail dot com
Preferred Method of Handling: Angle, willing to RP this time. Promise.
Best Way to Contact You: Forum PM or email directly
eWrestling Experience: Been in lots of places. tSC, fWo, jOlt (current), nbW and more recently ACW.
How did you find Defiance? I have frequented several fW feds including (currently) jOlt, ACW, EPW (Yo, Brunk!), and NFW long ago.

Writing Sample (From an ACW segment)

Here's the thing. What we want here in Defiance is for you to sell us on you as a handler. How you do that is up to you. Link us to an old RP. Write a new one. Link to a match you wrote. Just convince us that you want to be here and that you're worth having here.

The ACW Interview Backdrop.

You know it, you love it, you live it.

And standing by was none other than your favorite interviewer and mine, Robbie Gates. Mr. Gates was dressed in a salmon (not pink, bitches)-colored dress shirt and khakis and with his best professional smile. He adjusted his glassed and cleared his throat.

“Ladies and gentlemen, in just moments we’re going to be seeing a match for the ACW Tag Team Titles between the current champions Orcs and Humans. They’ll be defending their titles against my guests at this time… Aleczander and “The Rookie Monster” Angel Trinidad… Team HOSS.”

Coming into view was The Manchunian Muscle himself, Aleczander in a pink and teal-colored TEAM HOSS shirt with the sleeves cut off. They allow his biceps which he’s named “Seriously” and “Awesome” to breathe. I’m not going to bother explaining anatomy to him.

Angel Trinidad was wearing… okay, I’m going to explain this even less. Bandana. Yellow and orange. HOSSAMANIA.

The rest is left up to you, the reader.

“Angel, Aleczander… tonight, you guys have the unenviable task of going up against the team of Orcs and Humans. With Wade Orsival Watson’s vast intellect and Billy Law’s raw power that may dwarf even your own, how does Team HOSS hope to overcome all of that and take the belts?”

“You’re usin’ big words like ‘in-tuh-lekt’ and I don’t like it mate,” Aleczander said.
Robbie rolled his eyes. “Point taken.”

Aleczander was about to add in more, but the big hand of Angel Trinidad grabbed the microphone from him.

“I’ll fill this question, friend,” Angel said. “You know something Mr .Mean Robbie G, WOW may have a lot more money in his bank account than we do. And sure, despite that Aleczander and me are Hostile and Strong Soldiers of the highest caliber, Billy Law is bigger than I. And yes, if I lose then I’ve promised my contract and my services to WOW…”

For a second, Angel grew silent. You could honestly hear the dead hamster in his head kind of… I dunno, flop over a little bit. The wheel turned.

“Man…” Angel looked at his hand-crafted One Hour Tee HOSSAMANIA shirt. He started to take off his bandana and let out a heavy sigh. “…man, I hate to say this Aleczander, but I think Cappy was right… we’re boned.”

Angel and Aleczander both looked at each other sheepishly. Robbie Gates realized that this interview was going down faster than a Lindsay Lohan alibi in court.

“Uh… let’s go back to ringsi…”

“WAIT!”

Aleczander patted Angel on the chest.

“Mate, ye can’t give up now! Not when we’re so close! We’re close to winnin’ them that I can practically FEEL the birds goin’ down on me when we win ‘em!”

“Ew.”

Angel Trindad shook his head. “Aleczander… I dunno, man…”

“No, ye DO know! We’re in this to win it! Remember that we don’t take no for an answer! We’re gonna go out there and show the world that there’s nothin’ Team HOSS can’t do! We’re gonna go out there and take those titles from that thievin’ fuckin’ nerd and his pet orc… then we’re gonna go out there and show Gabriel that he shouldn’t have kicked me outta the group…”

“What?” Angel perked his head up.

“I said we’re gonna go out there and win one for the Hosses! Let me ask you three questions, friend? May I?”

He shrugged dejectedly. “Free country.”

Aleczander wrapped an arm around the body of his tag team partner. “You know, Cappy doesn’t think ye can do this. Doesn’t that make you mad, mate? Or dare I say… hostile?”

The Rookie Monster started to let his words sink in. “Yeah… yeah, it kind of does make me feel hostile.”

“And tell me this, mate… are ye… strong?” Aleczander asked with a sly wink.

It was now that The Rookie Monster was picking up what Aleczander was putting down.

“Yeah! Yeah, I’m strong! I’m big AND strong!”

And now the final question.

“And are ye a soldier?”

“No.”

“Huh?”

Angel Trinidad RIPPED open his HOSSAMANIA shirt and tossed it behind him. Some poor technician behind him got hit with it and tripped into a stack of boxes… all the while The Rookie Monster was flexing his own impressive physique.

“NO! I’M GONNA BE ONE HALF OF THE NEXT ACW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, BITCH! HOSSAMANIA FOREVARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!”

Angel Trinidad took off from the set and continued screaming while Aleczander smiled. Robbie Gates jerked a thumb to his left.

“Um… the ring is the other way…”

The reverberating “RRRRRRRRRRRR” from Angel grew louder when he ran back across the ringside stage to follow Aleczander towards the ring. Robbie Gates gave the official sign-off.

“Back to you at ringside!”

Mr. Gates shook his head in disgust, not realizing the camera hadn’t been turned off.

“Idiots…”

Wrestler(s) Information

Ring Name: Team HOSS (aka The Hostile Order of Strong Soldiers). Yup, team and order are part of the group’s official name. A rook named it.

“The Rookie Monster” Angel Trinidad
Capital Punishment
Aleczander

Height:
Angel Trinidad: 6’10”
Capital Punishment: 6’7”
Aleczander: 6’3”

Weight:
Angel Trinidad: 291 lbs.
Capital Punishment: 288 lbs.
Aleczander: 267 lbs.

Hailing From:
Trinidad: The Bronx, NY
Cappy: Washington, DC
Aleczander: Manchester, England

Alignment:
Tweeners to the highest degree whose parents were all killed in the same horrible boaking accident so now they have to make a living selling pretzels, then they all turned to wrestling.

Kidding, I swear.

Team HOSS are faces (though Aleczander himself leans towards confident douchebag… I promise, not a confident douchebag that gets cheers.) Angel is earnestly terrible in a Joseph Park-esque way and Cappy gets good nostalgia pops. All this combined equals respectable “their workrate is kind of questionable, but they mean well” pops.

Gimmick: First the backstory:

Team HOSS originally consisted of a simple teacher/student relationship. Angel Trinidad aka The Rookie Monster was pegged to be ACW’s next big thing. He was young, big and… well, that was really it. Former IWO legend and 20-year veteran Capital Punishment took the kid under his wing. When the cocky muscly Brit Aleczander came along after being ousted from a previous team, he took Team HOSS to the Promised Land in ACW. They won the ACW Tag Team Titles and had a brief jaunt as a Freebirds-style team that got kind of popular in a “Plan 9 From Outer Space was utter shit, but campy good utter shit” kind of way. Unfortunately egos got in the way and they imploded on themselves, losing their belts and fading quietly…

… So the legend goes.

ACW folded and all three were left with little to do. Nobody wanted to take a chance on Angel Trinidad because outside of tag teams he was still as unpolished as a lump of coal. Capital Punishment tried to supplement indy appearances with a side job as a bodyguard. Aleczander had a speck of talent, but his outrageous arrogance (think any Will Ferrell character he ever played) led to him also people not taking a chance on him. When all hope seemed to be lost, the rusty wheel inside Angel Trinidad’s head turned a little. DEFIANCE wanted Trios teams for their burgeoning division. Angel knows that Trios means “three” in Slovenian (er…) and called his buddies up, bribing them on a rookie’s salary. When he then presented them with the more reasonable explanation of “we all need this for money” they eventually buried the hatchet-ish and decided now was the time.

Sorry for that backstory, but now here’s the gimmick: Team HOSS means something to all these guys so they want to prove ACW wasn’t a fluke and try for success elsewhere as a unit:

-Angel really tries and sucks, so he wants to get better and be one of wrestling’s best big men. He’s kind of funny and has a wacky “lovable moron” charisma going for him.
-Capital Punishment doesn’t have too many years left and wants one more accolade to his name. He’s a respected veteran.
-Nobody else will hire Aleczander, so he has to play nice. He is trying to clean up his act, but he is brazen and his mouth will probably get Team HOSS in trouble.

Wrestling Style:
Angel: Rookie powerhouse. He’s big and he can do some damage. His moveset is limited but he will learn with time… quite a bit of time…
Cappy: Late 90’s Sports Entertainment power brawler. Back when crowd-all-over-the-arena brawls and power moves were the norm.
Aleczander: Flashy powerhouse. Not half-bad in the ring and even has a couple of complex moves.

Three Weaknesses:
I will list the team here. If you want more info for the individuals, I will submit.

Clash of personalities. When these guys can put it together, they’re on… unfortunately, a lot of the time they’re only kinda-sorta-but-not-quite on.
Individual shortcomings. They’re all wanting this for different reasons and there’s a good chance some of that insecurity will make them doing things for themselves as opposed to the good of the team. Others can also prey on this.
Potential. It don’t buy you groceries. The potential is there for a great team. They have had success before. But they’re still trying to work the kinks out of this new arrangement after a previous falling out.

Three Strengths:

STRONG: They are all the epitome of HOSS. None of them are especially lacking in strength and can probably ragdoll most of DEFIANCE’s roster.
Experience: Mainly Cappy’s experience edge. He’s been there, bought the ticket, and took the plane ride. He’s a fountain of knowledge and any plans of attack come from him.
Unpredictability. They’re an eclectic bunch who can be hard to prepare for.

I left out the moveset intentionally because there’s already a lot of shit to process here as is. I promise not to shove eighty-million F5s into their moveset and powerbombs with their finisher being a shooting star press. Should those be absolutely necessary, please let me know and I’ll get that information to you.

I've got no qualms with the characters or any of this. So: Yes.

Sorta of Related, but not really:
What characters did you handle previously? Did you ragequit or flakequit?

Sorry to say it was flaking out. I handled a character named Adam Faulkner who I thought would've been fun to write for but the one or two things I did write with him were so milquetoast they were bad. This would not be the case with the trio above.

If it were a singles character I'd probably say no. But since you're applying with a trios team...

What sort of angles would you like to run? What trios guys would you like to work with?

That's fine. I thought for a moment you were Chasin' Lincoln and I was going to vote "Fuck that".

To answer the question, Team HOSS are meant to be comedy with a somewhat serious bent to them (teacher still trying to prove his relevance/students still trying to learn and make it big). They have an element of dysfunction to them as the backstory would hint at, but this isn't meant to be the dumb "OMG MISMATCHED TAG PARTNERS FROM 1999" trope that is overblown... well, okay, it is (more Team Hell No than a Russofication) but they're a team for the long haul.

I could immediately see some good feuds with a group like Dentari and the Gorillas (guy with Napoleonic complex against big guy stable writes itself), The Moral Majority (perhaps trying to play into the group's overall insecurities? Recruiting new members?), Tres Brujas (Three strong brutes with some conflict vs. three united chicks), and Philosopher Kings (Could be good foils for them as well. There's a few good angles to work there, I think.
