That's right, I can do this, too! We're just under 36 hours to deadline, and while turnout's been alright thus far, we've still got a few no-shows and double no-shows, so let's get moving and make this last day-and-a-half great.

O Mac's internet's been on the fritz since the middle of the week (I think you saw his post on the PRIME forums.) Not sure what this is going to mean for his match, but this is an FYI for Captain Congaline's handler too.

To hopefully drum up a little activity, I'm gonna go ahead and give everyone a 48-hour extension on the RP period to 11:59:59 p.m. EST TUESDAY.

Just a note for my roleplays in this tournament: I didn't consider killing off Chris Bagwell until after joining the tournament and the brackets were revealed so I'm writing in this tournament as if it happened BEFORE Chris Bagwell's death.

I know my opponent for round one already commented on the death, but to no major extent. For the future (should there be one lol), I'd just ask that others ignore the Bagwell death angle. It'd be sort of weird otherwise ;)

I am really against all these deadline extensions. Everyone knew what dates the tournament was going to take place. And don't give me that real lifer **** happens bull****m, because it does. I understand that., I also understand you had enough time to warn someone about your needs, and honestrly just pushing back the deadlines weakens the intregity of this system.

How far is it for thiose of us who can post on time, to then have to deal with our opponents geting another two days

Totally agree. If you can't RP at least one measly time in a week and a half, you deserve to job. Nobody is THAT busy. I work 5 days a week, 9-5, had to go into work today for two hours as well, and I can still muster an RP here and there even in the busiest weeks. Busy is one thing, lazy is another.

Looks like I inadvertly set off an avalanche of negativity.

I didn't mean to put anyone on the spot. It's just that...and I say this as someone who's been involved with countless tournaments...having to accomodate no shows prolongs the tournament more than it needs to be lengthened.

Sometimes the best writer might not win, sometimes the favorite may not win, sometimes not everyone can meet deadlines.

I've gathered that in order to win tournaments like these you not only need the talent, but you need luck.

Having favorable draws, writing your best stuff, and dealing with events out of your own jurisdiction is what it takes to advance in these kind of events.

This has brought up a bit of a soft spot to some people, apparently, so I'll address this and we'll table the discussion from here.

I'm no fan of deadline extensions either, but as of Sunday morning, when I made the decision to grant the extension, 7 out of 16 handlers, nearly half the field, had yet to show for their matches. I understand that not everybody likes this, but in a 32-man tournament, I wanted to give everybody the most opportunity possible to get something up. Also, since I'll be posting the Midwest and South threads as soon as the deadline tomorrow night passes, we're not holding up the tournament very much at all.

However, unless someone comes to me in advance with extenuating circumstances, I'll go with the tide here and stem any more mass deadline extensions for the remainder of the tournament.

Any more problems, questions, etc., handle it with me via PM and keep it off the boards.

Thanks everyone.

I think the guys voicing their opinions here were pretty respectful in their opining....which is refreshing. :)

Also, you handled it well Mr. Shinder. Well done, nice compromise.

O Mac's 'Net came back up last night (I think it was last night, anyway, may have been the night before). Unfortunately, he's still having trouble posting to the forums...this happened in the ToC too, which is why I had to post everything for him.

Shinder/Brunk/Someone: Can you look into this? His forum name is Rayne Man.

I'll try and look into that.

Anyway, first round in the East and West is done judging assignments to be sent out soon. Midwest and South threads will go up in the morning, although before they do, there's one bit of housekeeping to get to. Since the second-chance play-in match was a double no show, I did a random draw to determine Nova's opponent from the list of people who signed up multiple characters. Therefore, the 8 seed in the South Region is...

::drumroll::
