So, the Royal Rumble...

sVgwXUl.gif
= my face when #30 was Rey fucking Mysterio.

Yes, the fact D-Bry was left out of the Rumble was a misstep... was it an intentional one? Won't know until tonight. Hopefully the Elimination Chamber changes the booking heading into Mania because if WWE thought the smarky PPV crowd shit on Cena/Orton/Batista last night imagine what a Mania crowd will sound like if they're treated with an Orton / Batista main event.

Some bright spot take aways. Roman Reigns is a fucking beast. This time next year he'll be one of the biggest most supported stars WWE has. Dude can only get better and he's already a whole lot of fun to watch.

I think Wyatt / Cena will be a really fun angle leading up to Mania. Lots of shades of grey with the audience so split on both guys. It'll be cool to see how a Mania and hot post Mania Raw crowd react to this program.

Batista... if they keep trying to make him "cool bad ass" early 2000's Batista I'm going to goddamn freak out. Now, if they capitalize on all this mega heat from the Rumble and have him pulling the gimmick he had right before he left, whiny dick head Hollywood bound Batista, it'll be at least partly a lemonade out of lemons situation. Have The Authority turn on Orton and get the belts off of him... I'd rather see super heat magnet Batista vs. super over Bryan than Orton / Batsita. I mean, Jesus.

I'm so glad that was the last full price PPV I'll have to buy. Hate on WWE for the cruddy booking aside, I'm still super psyched to sign up for WWE Network. My friend and I are already talking about what old shows we want to sit down and check out.

Everything has been said, but am I the only one who was super-psyched at how blown up Batista was after being in there about six minutes?

And what is with the WWE letting everyone wear Gracie gear now? Punk always having the hoodie was too much, but now Batista's trunks?

have not watched it.... I would of booked it different... When Lesner issued his challenge,

I would of had Batista's Music hit.. I say the crowd would of poped for it. And had him on the tron, Maybe stage a movie production deal. Really push the Movie star gimmick for Dave, he could say thanks to HHH He has a live feed.

Tease the two fighting, and have other guys like what's happened. Henry... Big Show... And after each have Batista make comments on how he was not impressed. [In the mean time Dave could be brushing up on his skills.]

And then have a good point where Lesner is doing something and then bring Batista out. maybe even had him save Randy and HHH. Or steph.... And ohh look here is The Roadblock against Lesner stepping up for the friends of HHH. Mean while Lesner still looks strong, as he would of taken out Dogg and Gunn, HHH and Orton, and was about to take out Steph..

That's what I wanted to happen... and sadly it did not happen... but would of been better then what we got I belive

I've just reread this post, and this is purely going to be me sucking D-Bry's virtual dick, so be warned.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Bryan/Wyatt is already a match of the year candidate. That was an amazing way to open any PPV and it dispells any arguments people have about Bray not being able to work. We all know Bryan is one of the best workers in the world and he can carry almost anyone to a decent match (Come on, he's done it with Ryback) but this wasn't one of those occassions. Wyatt held his own and came out of that match looking like a future star. I really hope Cena puts him over at Wrestlemania. Not because I'm a Cena hater, but because that would solidify Bray as a big deal.

But that, as well as Roman Reigns, were the only good things to come out of the Rumble PPV.

There's something seriously wrong when fans are chanting 'boring' not 2 minutes into the World title match. There's something insanely wrong when they're chanting 'We Want Divas' and 'End This Match'.

I haven't seen RAW yet, but I've read the results, and I'm certain the E is trying to spin things so that they can claim the crowd was worked at the Rumble, but I seriously doubt they were. If Daniel Bryan being kept out of the rumble were supposed to be an angle, why wasn't it played out on TV in any way? Bryan went from feuding with Orton over the title to feuding with the Wyatts, and since then there's been no mention of him vs. The Authority. That's shifted onto Punk.

The only thing that we can take solace in is that Daniel Bryan is more over than he's ever been, which is something we said back in August when he went against Cena at Summerslam, but his fan base has simply grown and grown. Bryan's getting chants during matches he's not in, people are getting heat for winning matches that Bryan isn't in. His crowd reactions are carrying over into other sports. Hell, his tweets are getting picked up by the fucking BBC.

You know, the BBC? That well known wrestling newz site? They're reporting this shit like it's a real sport! Daniel Bryan is a big deal, and the sooner Mcmahon swallows that pill the better it will be for everyone, including the WWE. How are they going to fare if their biggest show of the year ends with people booing no matter what because the person they most want to see is relegated to a third match in four years against Sheamus?

Punk, whose contract ends in July, has walked away from WWE as a result of frustration with the booking and constant travel. His big remaining goal is a Mania main event, and he sees part-timers constantly coming back in that spot. This will almost certainly lead to Bryan facing HHH at Mania.

Well, there's a solid 50% of my reason for even bothering to sit through the dreck that is WWE programming (RAW and PPVs) walking out the door because the people in charge of the company don't fucking get it... or worse, they get it just fine, they don't give a damn.

If it's a work, good job.

I don't know if I blame Punk or not.

On hand A, with a contract that terminates in July, I wouldn't want any part of a Triple H burial unless I had a contract extension in hand. Especially on the grandest stage.

On the other hand, he needs to handle his shit with professionalism if he ever wants to get back into WWE in any form, including Legends deals and Hall of Fame.

Side question to you; I know we're mostly marks for Punk, but objectively is he a HoF talent?

(In b4 lol Nikolai Volkoff: stop it, really)

On the other hand... Bridges are never burnt with WWE, especially for those who can pop a crowd / draw money. Sure he could finish out his six months and just leave, but why bother wasting his time with it on a company that actively works against it's own best interests?

He's handling this route differently. What happened to him three years ago didn't start off as a work, it was legitimate. He said this time around he's keeping his mouth shut. Maybe he just needs some time off. Who knows, he does, the public will warp any slight as a perception. Maybe he has health reasons or family reasons that came up immediately.

And if he does come back, they'll storyline his leaving.

In disappointing news, Chikara sucks now.

In random news, I found this random match from Super Dragon's early days that also features Rising Son (the real wrestler that inspired Yoshikazu YAZ). It's from XPW of all places and some have called it XPW's best match ever.

God I went to an XPW show in Philly during it's dying days at the Arena. It was SHIT. Sunny was so trashed. There was a confederate character who wouldn't respond to my friend who waved his confederate bandana like a flag. God, that place. Fuck that place.

I had really high hopes for Chikara, but I should just watch PWG these days if I want good wrestling. Although their stories are like, non-existent.

For WWE, my friend and I were saying they should package Kevin Steen, El Generico (Sami Zyan or whatever?), and Cesaro as the Outliers or the Independents, and have CM Punk / Daniel Bryan come back and lead them (like when Hogan joined the nWo) and do another invasion. It's been more than ten years... I think it could work if it was repackaged and people believe it. Imagine if the American Wolves showed up on Raw. Or if AJ Styles / Christopher Daniels showed up with Steen and Generico. I'd pop. Way more than I did when Rusev or whatever beat RVD this past Monday. Which was a travesty. Did nothing for either character whatsoever.

Just like the Wyatts beating the Not Legal USO. If they won the tag straps that way, sure, that gets heat. But how it happened leaves NOTHING on the table moving forward / changes NO dynamics. Bah. Raw annoyed me. And I liked last weeks. And I like Bray / Jericho as a story. I think it has potential.

wait, what happened?

I've basically regressed back to "Vince is the antichrist" default mode to the point where I don't use my friend's WWE Network account he let me use free for my birthday, so CHIKARA sucking makes me sad. At least I have puroresu to keep me warm. Today's order of the day will likely be the combined Katsuhiko Nakajima 10th Anniversary/Kensuke Sasaki Retirement match from February.
