Angry Johnny
(FADEIN on me.
Yes, me. And my title belt.
Yes, my title belt.
It's an evening of firsts, isn't it?
I've been bloodied and bruised, but I made it through the Sears Tower match in one piece.
And ten pounds heavier.
Roll 'em, in three... two...)
"Even during the broadcast, there were shots taken and jokes cracked."
I am Impulse and I wrestle, I said, in deadpanned monotone. Hilarious.
"Well, I am Impulse, and I do wrestle. And I do it pretty well, if I say so myself."
And I gestured to the TV Title belt in my hands.
"This is why I am the way I am, Cruise. Because I knew that whatever would happen would happen in the Sears Tower, that I needed to not focus on what the rest of you were doing and concentrate on myself."
"Because the only thing I can control is what I do in the ring."
"This is why I never said that the NFW owed me anything. Because it didn't. It still doesn't. All this company owed any of us six was an opportunity, and only one of us could have cashed it in. Today, it was me."
"Tomorrow it could very well be you."
That's the nature of the business, Cameron. That's the nature of championships.
"I know President Mayfield is probably not very happy with my holding onto this belt, but he's going to have to deal with it. None of his insurgents have the means to take it from me - Cojones can attest to that."
"And it's not over yet, Eddie."
Eddie. I'm living dangerously.
"I gave you until Crash to do the right thing and give Joe his title belt, not because I'm so naive as to think your heart will grow from two sizes too small to ten sizes too large, or because I'm so egotistical that I couldn't help but jump on Cameron's buddy Ol' Joe and ride his coattails."
"There ought to be justice, Eddie. There ought to be law. Keeping the World Championship belt away from the World Champion is not justice."
"Why did I give you a deadline? Because I wanted to be able to look at myself in the mirror and know that you were given ample opportunity to do the right thing. Was that naive? Perhaps."
"But the fact remains, Joe is still your Champion, and Joe is still without his title belt. This is something that needs to be remedied."
"Joe and I are not friends. I don't approve of Joe's tactics and Joe probably doesn't think much of me and my outlook on the business, but the fact remains, he's the victim of injustice in this company and that's not something I can let lie. The fact that it is happening at all is more significant to me than who it's happening to."
"It's not in my nature to walk away."
I sighed, and adjusted the grip on my belt. This is going to take getting used to.
"The Wrestling Revolution, Eddie, is over, and you proved it to be, by and large, a failure. But that's okay. I'm far from finished."
Viva Evolution.
And, fade.
