Beep.

Beep.

BEEP.

The annoying sound of an alarm clock grew louder until it's programmer rolled to his side, carelessly throwing his arm over it, his hand fiddling for a bit on top before finding the button to shut the machine off. With a soft groan, he slowly rolled completely onto his chest, then onto his side with a thud and a crash. The thud, of course, being from his falling off the couch, and to the floor. The crash from the alarm clock coming down beside him as his body caught the cord.

".....****."

The man let out another groan as he pulled himself up to his knees with some obvious aid from the couch. A slow glance back down at the clock brought his eyes to the bright green truth. 2:30 pm.

He slowly rose to his feet before stumbling backward, leaning against his white recliner. Even in the midst of summer, he went with his first thought, one he'd trained himself to think, just after waking up, over a year ago now. Wow, had it really been that long since he took over this identity? Had he been plotting his revenge for such a long time, with so little to show for it? Oh well, that was going to change.

He quickly jerked his white jacket off the recliner and slipped his arms into it, pulling the hood over his head and brushing the small specs of dirt off the front. He slid down to a seated position in the recliner before digging a hand into a pocket inside the jacket. He pulled out a pack of Newports and a white lighter before bringing the cigarette to his lips and lighting it.

After taking a long drag, he let out a deep breathe, his eyes focusing on the smoke. His free hand went behind the recliner for a moment before coming back out with a white half mask, with odd black and red design. He slowly brought it around, placing it on the left side of his face and brought the straps around his face and behind his head, hooking them on the back of the mask.

"What.....did..I do last night?"

The man chuckled as he took another drag off the cigarette, his eyes turning to fix on the seemingly endless line of Bud Light cans across the table his computer sat on. His eyes moved down to the telephone resting in front of the cans, and a smile came across his face, recalling the phone conversation he'd had the night before.

"Oh....yea. That explains that."

His mind raced back to the conversation he had with the woman he loved. Hearing her voice made his world complete, and he could still hear it, even in his hung over state. Even the thought of not seeing her since they came back to America couldn't bring the smile off his face when he heard her voice.

Stuck in some hospital in Illinois since they got home. He hadn't been able to see her face. No hug or kiss, not even before they came home. He wasn't even sure she knew how he felt, he just knew he was asked not to come find her. He let out a sigh and took another drag off the cigarette, throwing his foot up to kick the mouse, causing the computer screen to flicker from the screen saver of the name Neah, to a blue screen, and finally to his e-mail. Always checked his e-mail before he went to bed and when he woke up, hoping for some news.

His eyes focused on the screen, shaking his head and clicking his yahoo tab, bringing up a message he'd recieved. He slowly read over it, letting out a slight chuckle before running his hand along his pearly white teeth.

"Black. Toothed. Son of a *****? ****ing Asson. Such a moron."

He couldn't help but let out another chuckle as he hit the ignore button and returned to his e-mail box, glancing through the list of e-mails. He saw two new e-mails, and as he looked at the names, his smile grew wider. He quickly opened the first, his eyes scanning through it, chuckling at the fact that they'd actually e-mailed him his acceptance as requested.

"Perhaps the legacy of Starks wasn't meant to end with Rival. CSWA. How ****ing perfect."

Even with the betrayal of the man he'd looked up to for years, it seemed he still had a chance to move on and make something of his career. This, this was even better to him. Sure, his huge plans, were gone, but the future was looking brighter. Perhaps this was the perfect way to shove it in their faces, once and for all. Even the one he looked up to.

He left the e-mail and opened the next, unable to even believe the words he was seeing, without hearing them come from his own mouth.

"Happy birthday Starks. We've decided it's time. As a birthday present, you have two plane tickets waiting on you at the airport. One here, I'll be waiting on you tommorow morning at the airport when your flight arrives. The other leaves here, and will take you to Greensboro. I really hope this makes you as happy as it makes us. Your friend, Sarah."
