"Oh...****."

The completely emotionless words escaped Starks' lips as he stared straight ahead, at the gun aimed at his head. He couldn't help but smile though, despite the obvious danger he was in, and simple shook his head, dissapointed in the so called security of the hospital.

"If you're going to shoot, just get it over with amature. If you're not, step away. I'm a welcome guest here, fool."

The guard glanced over Starks' shoulder, to the young woman accompanying him, and slowly let the gun lower to his side. Starks couldn't help but chuckle as the young lady walked by, nodding her head at the guard.

"This is the freak she talks about so much."

Starks smiled at the guard and walked past, stopping just before the elevator and turning his head back to face the guard, who'd turned to keep his eyes on the two.

"Ever point a gun at me again and hesitate, I won't."

He finally took the step into the elevator, glancing over at Sarah with a smile on his face.

"Thanks. Really didn't want to hurt the poor bastard."

"Thank my later. Something's wrong, isn't it?

He reluctantly nodded his head, knowing his mind was elsewhere, and knowing his mask couldn't hide that fact. He couldn't get his mind off of Cassandra, and that asshole of a man who'd stolen her from him. Everything was perfect back then, but now, now he was only half of what he knew he could become. He let out a sigh, trying his hardest to be happy, atleast today. Today was supposed to be such a special day, but he was letting his mind ruin that, as usual.

"I'm fine. Just, a lot on my mind right now."

"I know. You were all three supposed to meet together. You can't worry about that right now Starks."

"I know."

The elevator gave off a ding as it came to a stop, bringing his heart to a halt with it. Thinking about everything that had led up to this point, and the plans he had for this day. He couldn't help but think about what was in his pocket, something only one other person in the world knew about. He finally took a step off the elevator and followed Sarah down the hallway until she stopped in front of a door.

"You ready? You've got to remember, if she sees you upset, it will crush her."

He sarcastically tapped his half mask, implying she couldn't see past it to see his pain, but he knew that was a lie. The mask he wore to hide himself from the world, had turned into a part of him. It showed his emotion, possibly even better than he ever could. The mask itself represented the pain inside of him. He let out a deep breathe as his hand reached the door knob, slowly opening the door. After a pause, and a nudge from Sarah, he stumbled into the room, catching his balance on the wall.

He turned slowly, his eyes catching hers, and couldn't help but smile, moving to a chair beside her bed and sitting.

"How're you?"

It was all he could say. He was already slapping himself mentally for this one. After everything, he'd led himself right to his biggest weakness, and had no choice but to face it now.

"I'm doing great. How have you been since we left that European ****hole?"

"Well. Been living it up. You know, with all that money floating around, and the plan as good as ****ed now."

He couldn't help but glance up to where her once beautiful hair was. It was gone now. Not that it changed how he felt. He was just happy to be beside her again, it really had been a long time. He lowered his eyes for a second, taking in a deep breathe and letting it out before looking up into her eyes.

"I've been doing some thinking. I have to go back out on the road soon. New job and all, you know how that goes, and I."

He stopped for a moment, letting out a sigh, knowing this definately wasn't going to end well.

"I was wondering, if you wanted to come along, once you get out of this hole. Everyone agrees it's not the same without you around, and well, I really miss having you around."

Neah smiled, leaning up on her side to be level with Starks.

"I know, everyone misses me. I get e-mails and messages about it all the time. I just, can't. Not in this condition."

Starks nodded his head slowly, completely understanding what she was talking about.

"We're all holed up in a new house. Plenty of room for two more though."

He took a second to glance over at Sarah and smile before turning back towards Neah.

"Offers on the table. I know you don't need a place to stay anymore, and I'm not who you were looking for when we ran into each other, but..."

Starks let out another sigh before looking up at Sarah, and then back to Neah again.

"Things aren't right without you there. We both know we had something good going back then, and this entire time really, even though we've been states apart. I just....yea."

A dark brown haired nurse, well aged for her thirties peeped her head into the doorway.

"Excuse me. Visiting hours are over."

Starks nodded his head and held up a finger.

"Yea. One minute. Anyways. Neah. I'm going to be in town for a few days, changed the ticket so I can get out of here later, figure I may as well spend some quality time here. We'll talk tommorow. Just...think about it."

Starks slowly rose to his feet, feeling a hand grab his jacket sleeve as he went to turn, roughly pulling him down. Neah pushed the mask away from his face for a second and kissed him softly, and after a second of being shocked, he returned the kiss.

"I've been thinking about that for months now A.."

Starks put a finger to her lips, shaking his head.

"The name's not safe here."

"The answer's yes Starks."

He smiled, standing back up and quickly fixing his mask back into place before turning to face the nurse and Sarah, nodding his head. The three made their exit from the room, stopping just outside once the door was closed.

"Good job. You finally asked her Starks."

Starks nodded his head, his hand reaching inside his jacket slowly to grab something in a pocket, holding up the small black box for Sarah to see.

"Not entirely. I chickened out."

Starks turned, not even waiting for Sarah's reaction. He tucked the box back into his pocket and shook his head, dissapointed in himself as he made his way towards the elevator.
