Updated 4/14
We're running with 128 characters. I expect signups to reach around 96-100 by the end of Sunday night. We'll fill the rest of the brackets with jobbers. This is to avoid having a lull for participants with bye rounds, or from creating craziness with triple thread matches.
Prizes: Can't find where I posted this before, so just to be very clear:
Winner gets $100 via Paypal or Amazon gift card
Runner up gets $50
Other Final Four participants (2) receive $25
All Final Four participants receive a custom Poser by Dan of LoC fame
"New to FW" prize: Anyone who is "new" to FWrestling, that is, they have not been a participant in an FW-based league (either current or previously), that gets the furthest in the tournament receives $50. That means if a "new to FW" participants wins the whole tournament, they would win $150. So I hear the question, "Who decides who is new?" I do. I'll post a list along with the signups once we get closer to having the brackets.
Roleplay limits:
Rounds of 128, 64 and 32: 2 RP per round
Round of 16: 3 RP limit
Elite 8 and following: No limits
There are no "word" limits. Additional info about judging and suggestions on how to use your rp/card segments is available on the Judges Podcast (linked at the top of the page in the notice).
Card segment submissions: Participants will be able to submit segments for inclusion on the cards beginning in the round of 64. Not all segments will be included (likely only winners, and then maybe limited depending on the number of submissions). Segments can be to advance storylines, to call out potential next opponents, etc. Segments do not count against roleplay limits. They also will not directly count towards judging, but may be considered in the event of a tie or a very close decision. In general, anything that continues to build your character and a potential storyline can only help you, unless done poorly.
Match formats: Given the number of matches and those involved, the first three rounds will be post in "short form" format. That is, there will be a paragraph that recaps the match and gives a winner. Yes, we'd all love to have fully-written matches in all rounds, but we'd be here until 2015. The matches will get longer by round until full play-by-play or script matches are written out as part of the card.
In the first rounds, cards will be posted by bracket to keep things as clean as possible.
Roleplay deadlines: For the first 3 rounds at least, roleplay periods will last 7 full days. Roleplay periods will be staggered by bracket to keep things clean and to keep them moving. Here's a sample schedule (does not include a round of 128 yet):
