You know the drill. I'll be back to offer my thoughts in a few, since my college finals are done till Thursday and I want to be a bum.

EDITS IN AS I READ THROUGH THE RPS (I score each RP on a scale of 1-10 and then work averages... MAX 10 MIN 0:

Jeff Andrews vs Justin Voss - I thought both guys had their strongest RPs first. Voss' first RP was a little repetitive, which is something I battle myself in RPs. I loved how he explained the mannerisms of the character, though. I thought Jeff Andrews first RP was as close to a home run as you can get without knocking it out of the park. What's more, I noticed that he laid a trap that could have been danced around by Voss or fell into... unfortunately Voss fell into it with his second RP. Andrews' second RP was solid icing on the cake. Didn't have to be a home run...

Andrews (8.0 to 5.5)

Showtime vs Jace Gryphon - Showtime's handler seems to have a great grasp of episodic writing, which is a major asset in RP-style... and it wasn't a 500-page epic novel, either. I was hanging on every word. Very funny stuff. Great characterizations and dialogue. Left me hanging with the house fire thing, but I think we'll see what happens in round 3. With Gryphon, the first RP was the worst of the two. It seemed to go in circles and was one of the "long RP for long's sake" deals. It confused me and contradicted at points. I'm not sure if Penny was a Showtime creation, but i felt like the character was done justice in Showtime's promos and torn down/hijacked in Gryphon's first promo.

Showtime (7.75 to 5.0)

Cobra vs Spike Saunders
- There were 36 mentions of "Dan." 30 mentions of "Ryan." 26 mentions of "Dan Ryan." I didn't really enjoy reading either because of this, so while I believe Dan Ryan should go to the third round due to how over he was in these two's promos, I'll go with Spike Saunders.

Spike Saunders (5.6 to 5.5 )

King Krusher vs Cameron Cruise - This one was tough for me. I thought Marx beat Krusher in round one, but Krusher turned it up in the second round. His Cameron Cruise attacks were spot on and I appreciated that his background is solid and well-fleshed out, although I thought it might have been a little dry (second RP). Cruise's handler had difficulty getting his posts up, but I thought both were great replies to Krusher's first two RPs. It's really a toss up if I'm to be fair, but I think Cruise should get the win where Marx shgould have in the first round.

Cameron Cruise (6.75 to 6.5)

Sylo vs Troy Douglas - Wow. What a battle! I thought Douglas was on his game, but Sylo fought tooth and nail. Overall, this was the the highest rated RP battle in my mind. I scored it in favor of Douglas' word manipulations and cerebral RPs.

Troy Douglas (8.5 to 8)

Joey Melton vs Marcus Davis - Someone mentioned time management, but judges also said they give credit to those posting first. Melton got two wild, crazy RPs up that challenged everything people thought they knew of the tournament's criteria for winning... I wasn't really feeling the first one. It's like I get the character, yet totally don't get it. That being said, it was five days in before Marcus got anything in. Although his stuff was very good, I think Melton's craziness worked and he was able to pull it off without anything from Davis' character to go off of. I vote Melton... plus 500 XP for using Korea in an RP, factual representations be damned!

Joey Melton (7.25 to 7)

PS. I am very disappointed with the two no shows... especially Rivera's with El Gordo Grande. Really liked the character.

I'll post some thoughts on bracket 1 since if I'm judging it won't be my bracket. I haven't read any of Marcus Davis' stuff yet but what I read of Melton's it seemed like was taking the p¡ss out of everyone who was kicking up a stink about the whole ZERO crap that's been going on. I mean, don't get me wrong I found it entertaining but is it going to be enough to beat Marcus Davis? I'll read Walter's stuff and comment. ---- I also wanna say I had great fun going up against Jeff and have actually wanted to test myself against him for as long as I've known his character which I think is since DEF started. Thanks, Jeff!

So I'm gonna throw some of my opinions out there on the matches I've read from this bracket:

Jeff Andrews vs. Justin Voss
I loved the opening RP from Voss, the opening RP of a match is always the hardest and I think he smashed it. Andrews followed up with a good opener of his own, and I think they both did a great job of putting over the mindset of their character. I just read these RPs for the second time and Andrews has grown on me making this a close battle, but I'll go for Voss to win. Good job from both guys though.

Showtime vs. Jace Gryphon
Showtime is a clear winner here in my opinion. Gryphon's stuff just doesn't click with me.

Cobra vs. Spike Saunders
I actually liked the way Cobra opened up by talking about beating Dan Ryan. In character that was a huge win and it makes sense for him to bask in that glory for a while. I also like how Spike did something a bit different with his first RP and felt it came off well. Overall this one is tight and part of me feels that Cobra might well have pulled a win out of the bag once again, but I'm going to go with Saunders.

Sylo vs. Troy Douglas
This was a great battle and well worth a read for anyone. I love both of these characters - Sylo really plays the part of the unstoppable monster to perfection and Douglas dealt with the prospect of facing a beast like that nicely. I'd give the win to Troy Douglas as I loved the way he picked Sylo's words and actions apart and stated his own case.

"Jester" Chad Allen vs. "Triple X" Sean Stevens
Triple X via no-show.

Zero vs. El Gordo Grande
Zero advances (another no-show? annoying...), and just for the record I am a big fan of Andy's writing.

I'm going to reply to Me and Douglas.

All I really wanted to say is it's been nice writing against TD, he really made me push and knock more rust off. There has to be a winner and a loser though, with that said, of course I hope I move past because I was actually planning on getting a LOT deeper but if not you can read those in Jolt :). To those of you that took the time to read what we did and give feed back I greatly appreciate it.

Linguistic - I don't think anything I've ever personally been involved in (especially a tournament) anyone has ever considered something I took part in as the highest rated. That made me feel good even if you did pick Troy. I won't hold that against you ;) lol. Seriously, thank you, it's an honor and it's been great writing against so many characters I'm not familiar with be it in the tournament or just going back and forth with Yan over there on the hype forums.

ORPN - Thank you as well. This is actually the end of the "Pet" era after this tournament ends for me. Sylo will still be The Superbeast but he'll be changing a bit. I've wrote with Sylo since I was 15, he's my alter-ego at this point, and as I grow and get older (26 at the moment) I feel it's time for him to also grow and expand. So again, thank you for the kind words. I've always tried to work to be a different kind of "monster" and not just what you always see.

For me your battle with Douglas was easily one of the best of the tournament so far, and really you both deserve to go further than the second round. Whether your story continues in this tournament or in jOlt, I'll certainly be reading.

Great...I was beaten by someone who couldn't show for the second round after he went to the trouble of asking permission to use Tarrasque as part of his crew for the rest of the tournament.

Now I truly feel robbed.

You should put him in the camel clutch until he dies.

Zero .v El Gordo Grande
Ah it's too bad EGG didn't show. Zero's role-plays were horrible, really reminded me of Jack Eastwood but instead of drug dealing we're getting a Lifetime Drama.

Sean Stevens .v Jester Chad Allen
Stevens. For obvious reasons. You'd think the No-shows would've not lasted past the first round.

Joey Melton .v Marcus Davis
Having been an associate of Yan Suko's in the past, you'd think that make me biased. Joey Melton all the way. the google gag had me chuckling. Marcus Davis seems to be the exact same as he was several years ago. Which is too bad. Melton however, great stuff, I enjoyed it.

Sylo .v Troy Douglas
After the first rp's I thought Sylo had this. Sylo roaring and generally acting like Juggernaut/Bane is complete gold. Sylo taking too much and not making a wreck of things? Not so big on. Troy's first rp didn't hook me and I had to force myself to read it. Second rp was much better. I'm thinking Douglas, because he got that good last word. But solid stuff overall.

Cobra .v Spike Saunders
Cobra felt flat. I'm not super in to Spike Saunders character either. Saunders wins, just because I still feel like Cobra blew his wad with that second rp against Ryan.

Jeff Andrews .v Justin Voss
Favorite battle of the second round. Can they both advance? Seriously. Boot Zero. Pick one at random for his spot and push the other guy through. a Draw if there ever was one. Thanks to you both for writing four really good stories about wrestling. I'd HATE to be the guy who has to make the call on who lost this one.

as for the other two, I really didn't read either of 'em. Sorry about that, I'm sure it was good stuff, but between that and my own bracket this week. I'll probably take a look at 'em a little bit later.

Jeff Andrews vs. Justin Voss: I agree with everyone who has said this was the best RP battle of this bracket. I think Voss had some pretty good material but Andrews really came back strong and I give him the edge.

Cobra vs. Spike Saunders: I don't think either RP'er gave his best work here. I think Cobra had a good idea but didn't really take it the way I would have liked to have seen. Saunders I think put a better effort, even if it wasn't his best, IMO, so I give him the edge.

Sylo vs. Troy Douglas: Sylo is definitely one of the better characters entered in Ultratitle -- but he ran into some really strong work from Douglas, who I pick to win this match.

Joey Melton vs. Marcus Davis: Another good battle, but both guys went long and Melton did more to keep my interest than Davis did. I pick Melton.

Showtime vs. Jace Gryphon: I still can't get into Gryphon's work... he just goes too long and doesn't hold my interest. Showtime does a better job, IMO, and he's my pick.

King Krusher vs. Cameron Cruise: It's too bad that Cruise's handler has had issues with accessing the forum. I liked Krusher's first RP, then he took a chance with his second. Cruise had a good first RP before the deadline -- I don't know what the judges will think with Cruise not able to get his second RP in before the deadline. I'd be inclined to give Cruise the benefit of the doubt as I think his two RPs were ever-so-slightly better, but I could see Krusher winning this one just as easily.

Sean Stevens vs. Jester Chad Allen: The Lucky Loser is moving on.

Zero vs. El Gordo Grande: No debate this time -- Zero is moving on.

I'll do my own predictions after I finish up the Defiance Heritage League card, but I just want to thank everyone who's said nice things about my work. And to especially thank Voss, who gave me the most enjoyable RP battle I've had in years.

To start with: I'm really glad I'm not a judge. There are a lot of great RPs to pick through and I am probably not reading close enough to do my judgments justice.

Triple X Sean Stevens vs. Jester Chad Allen: What a shame to win a round and then no-show the next. Maybe RL stuff got in the way, maybe he quit, I don't know.

Jeff Andrews vs. Justin Voss: Tough call. I support Voss, though, since I like his "reformed heel" act and I think it makes for a really compelling character.

"Arrogance" Joey Melton vs. "The Dream" Marcus Davis: Melton did good here, and gave Davis too much to overcome. He wrote probably the only bit I've read so far that I wish I wrote, the business about the Korean border.

Showtime vs. Jace Gryphon: This is my match, and obviously I pick myself to win. My objective for this round was just to go out there and be as much "Showtime" as possible, to set the narrative for myself instead of writing about the other guy. I could see losing, though, if the judges are more into what he did, which was a more traditional trash talk style. I did what I did and he did what he did, and if I win, I'll take it as a vote of confidence that I'm creating a compelling universe in my RPs. If I lose, I'll take it as a lesson to talk more about wrestling, less about stealing other peoples' pants, in future tournaments.

That said, I'll be interested to see if him using my Penny Pickett character will affect the judges' opinion. This obviously is not a Christopher Ryan Eagles situation since she's an NPC, and I don't see anything wrong with it from that standpoint, but does that make it a smart play? I'll be listening eagerly to the Post-Show Podcast.

Zero vs. El Gordo Grande: Again with the no-shows. It's really a shame to shrink away from the challenge of beating the big "upset" win from Rd. 1 (inasmuch as a 4-0 judges vote can be considered an upset.) Zero gets to keep doing what he does into round 3.

Cobra vs. Spike Saunders: I think Cobra had the right idea to push his win over Dan Ryan, but in execution I liked what spike did better. Plus, I want all my old nbW peeps to advance.

Sylo vs. Troy Douglas: Another tight one. I thought both wrote their characters well, but I dug Troy's voice better.

King Krusher vs. "Crippler" Cameron Cruise: I liked Cruise better here, but it was close again.
