Wrestlestock 2 Success & Fed Future
When the bell tolled on Dan Ryan's career in NFW, critics and fans could all agree that he went out with class, a 5-star match and in the main event of a PPV that will be talked about for decades.
For approximately five years, many fans of the FWrestling circuit have watched Dan Ryan's time in NFW as one of the most topsy-turvy roller coaster rides of his career. Winning wasn't something that came very easily over long stretches of time, he'd beat Michael Manson and Eddie Mayfield...but somehow lose to Yori Yakamo Junior.
At the beginning of '08, it all changed when Dan Ryan finally put some of those demons to rest and won the NFW World Championship. Unfortunately, not ALL were put to bed as the Season 2 Ultratitle Champion, Nova, a long-time thorn in Ryan's pride...was the eventual hurdle Ryan would have to clear at Wrestlestock 2.
People can claim that Ryan's extensive touring over the last three years wore him down, but there was no question on April 20, 2008 -- Nova did the one thing Ryan did not expect, but could be proud to leave knowing...Nova OUTWRESTLED the champion, making himself and Michael Manson the only two wrestlers that will ever have held the NFW World and Ultratitle Season Championships.
Nova's glory was the championship switch on the evening as the other two champions in Teresa Quaranta and Joe the Plumber faced their TOUGHEST challenges to date in NFW. Teresa squeaked out a submission victory over a slumping Sean Stevens, but was attacked viciously by XXX after the match. Similarly, Joe the Plumber somehow was STRETCHERED out of NFW TV Title 25-Man Royale...and STILL the Television Champion, withstanding the trio of Impulse (118 minutes!), Steve Knox (tSC vet) and Sars the Clown II (freak!) at the end. NFW officials and personnel have remained VERY quiet on the champions' medical situations.
While, Joe survived the return of Jason Payne (what a 15 minutes!), Felix Red is dealing with knowing the secret identity of the Uber Judge who helped him and Rook Black defeat Luci/Legion 4 in a classic extreme match...but then Felix watched his lawyer be banned from NFW...just mere moments before KIN HIROSHI RETURNED!
Brock Alyas was able to defeat the legendary Professor Tremendous, but still ran into a money problem after the match...and I'm sure you're wondering what happened to our tag team championship match, but if you didn't hear...Calvin Carlton and the HWC took out DC Stratton BEFORE the match, refused to wrestle in the environment and fled via Kobe Bryant's helicopter.
Alot of impact, alot of closure happened at this PPV, which critics have applauded. Nova moves atop the throne of the FWrestling circuit as Dan Ryan steps aside, the National and Television Champions have BARELY survived this event...only to be faced with a huge influx of talent. Nova has to wonder who will be coming after himself since he's been locked in a tango with Ryan for the better half of two years.
Felix Red, Sean Stevens, Rook Black, Steve Knox, Almasy...some great wrestling icons.
Brock Alyas, Impulse, Sars II...the future of wrestling.
And what about men like James Varga, Hunchblack, Legion? These freaks with nothing to lose that may be staying around against the Revolution Leader's wishes?
And in the background lurking are Jason Payne and Kin Hiroshi, two NFW former superstars perhaps plotting their rise to the pantheon which Nova stands.
It should be interesting and the future will start becoming a little clearer at the decision of holding 3 straight May house shows in New York City, close to headquarters...and in the heart of the city that's just like NFW, it never sleeps.
From there, it's onto CRASH 45...and who the hell knows?
