NAPW-online's RYAN STEVENS previews REBEL's NAVAL ATTACK!

Hello once again wrestling fans, this is Ryan Stevens, contributer to NAPW-online.com. Of course we are just over a week and a half away from NAPW's annual TAGSTRAVAGANZA event on the West Coast of Canada, but the buzz is all on REBEL Pro Wrestling after a wild and wooly event on the beautiful beaches of Virginia! Jake Phoenix retained his World Heavyweight championship against the young Nick Everhardt, but after the match the champ learned that he's not getting a break. The road to American Anarchy starts this Tuesday night in Norfolk Virginia, live from the Norfolk Naval Station, and what a card it is going to be!

Warren vs JASON
We have only seen the silent monster known as JASON once in a REBEL Pro ring, and that was in the $10,000 Bunkhouse Stampede. Well fans, you saw what this writer saw, and that was DOMINANCE. JASON never left his feet and if it wasn't for a concerted effort by Ravager, Mr. Hollywood and Derrick Steele in the final four, he would have won the thing. It's time for this man to make his proper debut, and he will be squaring off against a man no stranger to monsters... the loveable slacker, Warren! The W-man wrestled Caliban on the very first REBEL Pro event, he wrestled with Mr. Berzerker. The kid is a former tag team champion and has a lot of guts, but he has also been bruised and abused. No offense to Warren, but somebody might want to get the burial plot ready after this one!

Nation of Innovation vs John X Core & Nick Everhardt
What's up with the Nation of Innovation? They need to get on the same page, because last week their differing ideas of how to proceed as REBEL Pro superstars cost them the tag titles last week! Jeremy Daines succeeded in getting "New & Improved Censorship Rules" instituted, but it was Rodriguez who went "hardcore" and got his team disqualified, leaving the Nation arguing after the match. Daines has great dislike of the violent style that REBEL is known for.

On the other side is a team of up-and-coming fan favorites who are looking for their first major success. John X Core has shone in only a few matches. Nick Everhardt has come up just short in two different title matches. But you couldn't ask for a better pairing. Everhardt has the experience over X Core thanks to his time in Japan, but both are young, athletic, not yet in their prime, and above all hungry. If they can gel, and especially if Nation of Innovation cannot get on the same page. A win here would put either team into tag title contention, and both teams are desperate for wins. The only unknown is whether or not the "New & Improved Censorship Rules" will once again come into play.

AMERICAN ANARCHY FOUR WAY DANCE QUALIFIER
Blood vs "Diamond" Derrick Steele
Talk about an opportunity. Blood has been in REBEL Pro for two matches, and the dark enigma finds himself with a chance to earn a World title shot. Last week his cockiness perhaps got the better of him, as he chose to wrestle a handicap match. Which realistically was a singles match, since Galactix spent virtually the entire match on the apron. But Blood wanted a piece of "The Show" Chad Kurtis, REBEL's brightest star, and learned just why the people love The Show: he brings it every night.

Now Blood takes on another REBEL newcomer, but a man who has racked up the wins since arriving, winning both the $10,000 Bunkhouse Stampede AND defeating the legendary Stylin' Kyle Roberts to earn the #1 Contender's Trophy: Derrick Steele. The veteran immediately set the date for his title shot rather than risk losing his chance by losing the Cup (like Kyle did).

That all sets up a very intriguing match. Steele's title shot in late June at REBEL Underground is not in question. That one fact may give Blood, another veteran, an advantage. He has something to fight for - a spot in the Four Way Dance World Title match at American Anarchy 2008. However, Steele is a very proud man and isn't about to phone it in. And while Steele's title shot isn't on the line, should Steele win, he can pick any wrestler in the WORLD to compete in the Four Way Dance. Exactly who would Steele pick? One of his students? An NAPW wrestler? A former ally? This will be Blood's first legitimate singles match in REBEL. Steele is on a roll. They could not be more different. Blood wants his first win, and wants that shot at gold.

AMERICAN ANARCHY FOUR WAY DANCE QUALIFIER
"The Devastator" Kurt Castle vs "The Show" Chad Kurtis
Talk about history. In late 2007, Kurt Castle and Chad Kurtis had a bitter feud in New Alberta Pro Wrestling. Ever since Castle returned to wrestling in REBEL Pro, fans have wondered when he and Kurtis would tie up again. One post-match attack later...

"The Devastator" has an impressive record since coming to REBEL Pro, but he came up short in the biggest match he's been in, failing to defeat Stylin' Kyle Roberts in a #1 Contender's Trophy match. "The Show" is a two-time REBEL World Heavyweight Champion... but both reigns have been short. So when you factor in a shot at the World Title... each man's tremendous pride... and past history, this promises to be the most heated match on the card, with no holds barred! Castle has never forgotten Kurtis winning their feud over a year ago. He craves being top dog in REBEL Pro. The crowd will be firmly behind "The Show," will the support of the people propel him back into the World title picture?

REBEL WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Black Underground Railroad (C) vs James and Young
After trading the tag titles back and forth to El Rey & Zeke, the BUR of Stone and Assman finally retained the belts last week. The crowd loves Assman - and by extension Stone - but do the champs have the ability to focus and continue to win? The fans also love Thomas Young & Jeff James, the former being one-half of the FIRST REBEL Pro Tag Team Champions. There is no bad blood between these two teams, it is all about the GOLD. Depending on which Assman shows up this week, the champs could have the advantage or they could be fighting an uphill battle. James & Young are talented, driven and dedicated... they are not going to let this shot pass them by.

STEEL CAGE SUBMISSION MATCH
REBEL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
"Murder City Devil" Jake Phoenix (C) VS "The Technical Terror" Lloyd Rees
A lot of REBEL Pro fans (and wrestlers) were not happy with the way Jake Phoenix walked in the door, was given a title shot, and won the thing. But over the past two months, something has changed. Phoenix has now defended the title three times against tough competition. What's more, some of the crowd have actually started cheering the champion.

Enter Lloyd Rees. The most decorated man in NAPW history. Rees came in, like Jake, for one match. And in that match, he defeated Stylin' Kyle Roberts to earn a shot at the REBEL World Heavyweight title. What's more, Rees was given the choice of stipulation. His choice? A steel cage with a roof on it... to keep both wrestlers in for a submission match. Rees is bringing some MMA to REBEL Pro.

For the first time EVER in either REBEL or NAPW, Jake Phoenix is the underdog. Phoenix has NO submissions in his arsenal. He cannot win simply by knocking Rees out, Rees must tap out or give up in a hold. Phoenix can't take it to the floor. And while Rees had the past two weeks to rest up, Jake had a hard title defense against Nick Everhardt just days ago. This will be the stiffest challenge of Jake Phoenix's entire NAPW/REBEL tenure, second only to his wars with Ravager. Can Jake Phoenix surprise the wrestling world and retain in a match clearly designed to favor the challenger? But let's not count the man out. Phoenix has the size, power and sheer dick-headness as advantages. If he can catch Rees with enough of his soupbones, LDK will be tenderized enough to apply a submission.

If Phoenix knows any.

The Future
*Whether it's Rees or Phoenix, the champion will follow up this cage match with a Four Way Dance title defense at American Anarchy II, and should he get past that, he gets Derrick Steele at REBEL Underground in June. It is harder then ever to hold onto the REBEL World Heavyweight Title!

*What is next for Stylin' Kyle Roberts? Well, a Four Way Dance qualifier against El Rey de Corizones. Problem is, Roberts is on a tremendous losing streak, winning only one match in his last eight. Can he turn it around with a shot at the gold on the line? If he can't, how does that impact Roberts' state of mind?

*Manny X and Mikey Massacre are not done. They will compete in the first-ever in REBEL AMBULANCE MATCH next month! They both needed ambulances after the TaiPei Deathmatch! The Carolinas Title will be on the line if Massacre retains against Cuzin Zeke at REBEL Underground this May.

That's my take. I'm Ryan Stevens, and enjoy REBEL PRO WRESTLING!
