Dangerous Games Back Stage Report
Kevin Jacobs here with your Pay-Per-View backstage wrapup! A lot happened off camera in London, and there's a lot to reveal now that our overseas tour is complete.
LeStatt Knight was the big winner at Dangerous Games, adding a major win to his already legendary career. While it's tough to get actual injury information on Knight, since few are willing to get close enough to check, it's said that Knight was still hurting from his WorldWide 100 match with Andy Murray. For his part, Murray was also very banged up, but the two escaped without any major injuries. Murray's elimination looked particularly gruesome when the turnbuckle post failed, but it's nothing Murray couldn't shake off.
Neither man has commented since the event.
There was only one major injury for the night. Joaquin Pierre is said to have suffered an unspecified injury in his match with Samson and Delylah, though it is rumored the injury is to his knee. Pierre has reportedly already reached an injury settlement with GCW and is no longer with the company. Don't feel too bad for him, the company tends to be pretty generous in these situations.
Conspicuous by their absence in the Dangerous Games match were Phil Atken and Octavian. Atken lost to Dan Black earlier in the night, but sources say Atken's position with the company is in doubt. As for Octavian, he did not make the trip to London with the company. President Caldera has not commented on his status, though Octavian does have a lifetime contract with GCW.
GCW officially introduced 'The Prophet' John Adams and Alex Grey after Dangerous Games. The two made the trip to London by invitation of the company. Grey, making his return to GCW after six years, agreed to his deal eight days ago. Adams reportedly didn't sign his contract until just hours before the Dangerous Games match.
The mysterious Man in Black did not appear at Dangerous Games, but that hasn't stopped people in the backstage area from speculating about his identity. Since he was not removed from the building, it is clear that he must be a wrestler under contract. But whether he is one of the regular roster or someone else is still up for debate. President Caldera, who would seem to be in a position to know, has not commented.
There's some controversy brewing around Jacob McKail backstage. I can't go into many details, but he's becoming a bit of a pariah. He didn't help his case by standing outside Digital Mortality's locker room demanding he answer him. McKail had to be removed from the building after the show.
Former United States Champion Zachariah Taylor seemed to have cooled off after the show. I tried getting a quote from him, but he had little to say. "It's not over" is all he muttered before leaving the building. I'd suspect Taylor has every intention of regaining the US Title from the man who cashed in on the American Dream, Garbage Bag Johnny.
As a result of the hijinx of Banned and Exiled~! at Dangerous Games, President Caldera has informed them that they are banned from the Spanish Announce table permanently. Caldera reportedly tried to ban them from the English announce booth after last year's Dangerous Games, but received a suit about first amendment rights. Apparently the first amendment doesn't apply in Mexico.
Stay tuned for much, much more this week.
