Ego Check---Episode Two

Yeah, long time since my last ego check and all those random niceties that make people want to stop reading. Why am I here? Well let’s put it this way, I’m tired, in a bad mood and generally feel like writing about my passion. For those interested, I decided to take some time out to focus on other aspects of my life. Don’t let this business eat away at you. Otherwise it will eat away at you.

And that’s what many of the rookies in the ECWA need to pay attention. Seize your spot, an opening and take it. At the moment the ECWA is very fortunate, with a whole host of talented wrestlers coming in but that makes it harder for talent to shine. There’s too many to keep a track on, so make sure you’re good enough to really grab the audiences attention. It seems hard, when you’re in a new place and you have to get used to the way things work around here, I know because I struggled too.

Just ask my old boss Poshek, he’ll tell you that there was a point back then when I thought of quitting because I felt I couldn’t fit in with the large amount of quality talent that was on the roster. If I had have done, I’d have missed all the fun. I’m not as good as the top quality guys and to be honest I know I probably never will be, but look at where I am now and where I was then. And I owe it all to the fact that when I called Poshek he persuaded me to continue and with the level of compettion seemingly springing up from everywhere I feel that lessons need to be taught again.

And on the other end of the spectrum, no matter how many compliments you get you aren’t a god. You aren’t the best. That’s another thing which new talent needs to learn, if you’re head swells up to the size of the Grand Canyon than pack your bags now. The ECWA is a friendly place, we have a lot of fun and I think everyone will agree with me when I say we don’t accept political bullshit, so leave that at the door. And if you still decide to bring that shit here, than a long term of comedy jobbing is ahead for you and I hope you enjoy it.
I’m not a booker, I’m not one of the powers at be and to be fair I have the same amount of pull as an old Granny does in a tug of war with Rugby players. I’m at your level, I’m just a guy who’s here to compete and enjoy myself. Whether you think of me as a peer, an idiot or whatever else, this is some friendly advice and some general feelings.

Now onto the completely random bits.

Currently, the ECWA might be in a holding pattern when it comes to talent. We need to welcome the new additons and raise the playing field. There are many talented stars, many of whom simply blow me out of the water but they must know one important thing. Forget who’s making an impact and focus on being the best you can.

Remember, I was with names such as Zack T and Mike Vincent, and I had to watch as they raced in the lead and I was left last in the race. That really worried me and really hit my confidence, but now I look back at it I’m glad I didn’t try to force myself up. I might have caught up with those two, though I really doubt it, but it would have probably ended up killing my enthusiasm and then there’d never have been anymore races for me.

There’s a hell of a lot of talent amongst the additions but some are at a different level to others and are making more of an impact. It is important that others know not to try and compete, but to try and learn and have fun.

And just before I end this edition of the Ego Check, may I send out my congratulations to everyone who has made last week’s Anarchy and Fusion’s cards look truly fantastic.

And that’s all from me until next time…this has been your Ego Check!!!!
