Part Two

December 22, 2001

SB:  Still living off Eddy Love's fame, I see.

BB:  Give it up, Sammy.  Kevin Powers has announced that his match at ANNIVERSARY will be his retirement match, but it remains to be seen whether he'll be retiring in the Main Event with a shot at the CSWA World Title, or if he'll have another opponent.

SB:  Maybe P. Vicious could come out of retirement and give him a run for his money.

BB:  I think he's got his hands full with Cardigo right now.  There's the bell, and this one's underway.

BB:  The bell rings and Cardigo immediately charges Kevin Powers.  Powers meets him in the center of the ring with a back elbow and a right hand.  Cardigo backs up a bit and Powers scoops him up and slams him to the mat.  The former US Champion tries an  elbow drop but Cardigo rolls quickly out of the way.  Both men are up quickly.  Cardigo may have been a bit over-anxious.

SB:  He might be able to go toe-to-toe with Powers, but that's not his style, and this isn't the time to try.

BB:  Powers pushes Cardigo into the corner and hits him with a knee lift to the solar plexus and follows it up with a second.   Cardigo absorbs the blows and fires a left hook that catches Kevin Powers square in the mouth.

SB: Cardigo is vicious.malicious.

BB: Cardigo pops Powers with straight right hand and then a clothesline out of the corner that staggers the near seven-footer.

SB: --ferocious delicious.

BB: Delicious?

SB: It rhymed.

BB: No, it really didn't.  Cardigo grabs Powers by the head with both hands and rams a knee into his face.  What a shot!  That has broken-nose written all over it!  Powers crumbles back to the mat as Cardigo attempts to catch his breath.

SB: Powers is huge, but even the big boys drop like a cheap hooker with a blow between the eyes.

BB: Where in the WORLD do you come up with these things!  Cardigo continues his assault.  He lays into Powers with several hard kicks and then backs into the ropes.  Cardigo rebounds across the ring and comes crashing to the mat with a senton back splash right onto Kevin's face!  Powers is curling up in pain trying to protect his face.  Cardigo goes for the cover.  ONE..... not quite two, but Powers is still covering up.

SB: What, is he crying?

BB: Shut up.  Powers picks Cardigo up by the scruff of the neck.  He whips the masked man into the turnbuckle and Cardigo slams into the corner back first.  Cardigo staggers out from the buckle and Powers levels him with a clothesline!  KP stops to wipe his eyes and gingerly check his nose.  Card must have done some real damage.

SB: An ugly guy like Powers shouldn't worry about his nose.  Hell, a broken one could be an improvement.

BB: You're horrible.  Kevin Powers lifts Cardigo up for a sidewalk slam.  Powers jumps and sends Cardigo crashing to the mat.  He hooks the leg for a cover.  ONE......TWO....barely two.  Cardigo still has a lot of fight left.

SB: Powers gets to his feet and hauls Cardigo up as well.  He throws a punch and Cardigo ducks.  Man, Powers gets dumber by the year...it really is time for him to retire.

BB: Cardigo blasts Powers with a right hand of his own.  "Good God" stumbles a bit and fires back.  Cardigo blocks it and drills him in the chin with another right hand and then a head-butt to the bridge of the nose!  Kevin Powers collapses to the canvas absently reaching for his face.  Here's another cover by Card.  ONE............TWO...........Powers gets the shoulder up in time and rolls away from Cardigo to the side of the ring.

SB: I think Cardigo is giving serious consideration to disfiguring Kevin Powers.  (shudders)  Just don't let him get to that briefcase.

BB: Cardigo chases after Powers and gives him a sharp right hand to the eye.  He whips Powers to the turnbuckle but KP reverses and sends Cardigo crashing into the post.  Cardigo caroms out of the corner and Powers goes for a clothesline but Cardigo ducks.  Cardigo tries a kick to the stomach but Powers catches his foot.

SB: I still say there's some sort or body part in there.

BB:  What?  Where?!

SB:  In that briefcase!

BB:  Good grief.  Kevin spins Cardigo around and clamps a big right hand onto Card's throat.  CHOKESLAME!  Kevin Powers goes for the cover.  ONE...........TWO........NO, only two!  A couple of early near falls in this one.

SB:  If I don't get some refreshment soon...I'm parched!

BB: A couple of early near falls.  Powers lifts Cardigo up and slaps on a side headlock.  Card backs into the ropes and shoots Powers across.

SB: Cardigo picks Powers up with a double-leg.  He falls backwards and drops KP right on his face!

BB: This is getting sick.  Powers is grimacing in obvious pain and Cardigo is picking him up again.

SB: He's going to repeat the flapjack to do some more damage to Kevin's grill.  Powers comes off the rope and Cardigo ducks!  NO!  Kevin Powers puts a boot in Cardigo's mid-section and hauls him in for a powerbomb!

BB: Powers has him up for "Kiss the Canvas" but he's awfully close to the ropes!  NO!  He dumped Cardigo out of the ring!   Powers was too close to the ropes and ended up pushing Cardigo over the top!  Card went over the ropes, bounced off the apron and hit the floor hard!  Powers is shaking his head catching wind in the ring.

SB: With his nose swollen up and eyes watering, I don't think Kevin could see where he was going with his finisher.  Or it could just be he forgot he has to actually win it in the ring.  You never know with Kev.

BB:  On the plus side for Cardigo, he avoided Kiss the Canvas.  Unfortunately, it resulted in a sick fall to the outside.  Cardigo definitely took the worst of that one.  Powers feels his way to the outside and chucks Cardigo into the guardrail.  Huge impact!  Cardigo slumps to his knees and is reaching towards his lower back.

SB: That's the usual reaction when your spine contacts tubular steel.

BB: Kevin Powers won't be as forgiving as the rail.  He's got Cardigo up and hurls him into the ring steps.  Cardigo ricochets off the steel again and struggles weakly to get to his feet.  Powers grabs him by the mask and slams his face on the ring apron.

SB: Both of these guys are moving like eighty year-old men.  Powers can't even see straight and looks like he's going to have to wrestle the rest of the match by Braille.  Cardigo is holding his back like the moving guy who lifts the pianos.  AND I STILL DON'T HAVE A DRINK!

BB: Powers is back in the ring now and checks his nose for blood while Cardigo is struggling to get up on the apron.  Both men are on their feet and Powers gets his hands on Cardigo just outside the ropes.

SB: Kevin Powers hits Card with a right hand to the jaw...then another.  Cardigo is struggling a bit on the apron.

BB: KP throws another punch but Cardigo blocks it.  Cardigo pastes Powers with a forearm to the eye immediately sending the Chicago native reeling backwards.  Card climbs through the ropes and plants a foot in the gut of Powers doubling him over.  Cardigo hooks his arms and strains to lift KP but the big man fights it.  Cardigo quickly lifts a knee popping Powers' battered nose.  "Good God" cringes and Cardigo drives him to the mat with a double-arm DDT.  Cardigo rubs his back and gingerly turns Powers over for a cover.  Getting the three hundred-pound Powers up took its toll on his already damaged back.

SB: Didn't he ever learn to lift with his legs?

BB: The cover.... ONE.......TWO.... Powers manages to roll his shoulder in time!  Cardigo has a few choice words for the ref as he gets to his feet.  Kevin Powers is in rough shape.  Blood is spilling from a cut at the top of Powers' black and blue nose and his left eye looks to be nearly swollen shut.

SB: Most wouldn't think that an improvement, but if you saw him before the match-

BB: Cut that out!  Cardigo punts Powers in the face again and drags him up by the hair.  He drives Powers' face into the mat with an X-factor and goes for the cover.....ONE...........TWO........nearly three, but Powers is up!  Kevin Powers is in all kinds of pain but still managed to get his shoulders off the mat.

SB: Cardigo looks frustrated.  He's shaking his head and dragging Powers up by the hair again.

BB: Cardigo applies a front facelock.  He's struggling to get Powers off his feet.  It looks like he wants to hit an implant DDT and smear Powers' nose all over the mat.  But Powers is not getting taken off his feet without a fight!

SB: Cardigo is wrenching down on the hold and he's taking a long step back.  Looks like he's going to tag Powers with a knee to the face.  This is gonna be sick.

BB: Powers got his head free!  Cardigo misses with the knee and Kevin catches Card's leg!  Powers lifts him up and dumps him on the mat with a spinebuster!  Cardigo's head really popped off the mat!

SB: Mysterian looks dazed but Powers can only make a light cover as he continues to check his nose and eyes.  ONE...... TWO..... Cardigo may have reflexed out of that one!

BB: Truly incredible!  Both wrestlers are struggling to their feet. Powers is up first and charges Cardigo.  Card ducks and goes for the double leg lift but the force of the collision knocks the two back against the corner.

SB: Cardigo is hanging on!  He's got Powers up and he's going to put his face into the turnbuckle!

BB: No!  Cardigo's strength just seemed to fade as he drops to a knee.  He tried to lift him with his injured back.  Powers nearly collides with the buckle but manages to brace himself with his arms.  Cardigo clutches his back with one hand while the other is still around Powers' leg.

SB: Powers catches Cardigo for the powerbomb and he's going to try Kiss the Canvas, but he's too close to the ropes again!  He's going for the slingshot practically in the turnbuckle.  (SFX:  A loud clank is heard as Cardigo is bounced off the top of the turnbuckle)

BB: Oh my lord!  I think Cardigo's head hit the top of the ring-post!  Cardigo is limp in mid-air as Powers turns and drives him to the mat with Kiss the Canvas.  He hangs on for the cover..  ONE..............TWO..............THREE!!!!  (crowd pop)

SB: Cardigo is out cold.  That's Kev for ya...gotta use a post to get the win.

BB: Kevin Powers goes onto ANNIVERSARY for his shot at the CSWA World Title!  This was almost as sick as the last time Eli Flair and Troy Windham got together.   Speaking of which, there's talk that those two may get a chance to continue that feud at ANNIVERSARY.   But up first, Eli Flair meets the man he blames for driving Poison Ivy out of the CSWA!  We'll be right back!
