TEAM is proud to announce that the Chad Dupree Memorial Cup Tournament is coming back to the wrestling world for a second year. The Dupree Cup is a team-based, World Cup styled tournament where feds send squads to compete for interpromotional dominance. This year, there will be a twist, as now active stables may now send representation without having to take up their parent fed's total eligibility. For example, if the Highland Park Social Club were to want their own separate team in the tournament, they could send one without A1E or EPW being affected. Eight to sixteen teams may enter. Handlers may handle more than one character in this tournament, but they may not handle on more than one team. IE, if Dan West wanted to handle Prisoner 187 and Chip Friendly in this tournament, he could, but they would have to be on the same team.
Tournament Set-up
Teams will be split into brackets of four for round-robin play in the first round. Each team will face off against the other three teams in its bracket. Meets are split into three matches; one singles match, one gimmicked singles match and a tag match. After all three weeks of round robin play are over, the bracket winners and a number of wild-card teams (two or three, depending on whether there are 8, 12 or 16 teams in total) will make the playoff round, which consists of single elimination meets. Advancement to the single elimination stage will depend on total accumulation of points, as shown below:
Draw (each fed wins one match apiece and there is one draw, or if all three matches end in a draw) - 1 point
Win (one fed wins two matches and loses one, wins two matches and draws one or wins one match and draws two) - 2 points
Sweep (one fed wins all three matches in a meet) - 3 points
In the tournament stage, there are no draws, and teams do not get anything special for scoring a sweep.
RP Set-up
RP is totally free-formed. Depending on the number of teams entering, I will try to keep the promo RP teams and narrative RP teams in separate brackets. In the event that I can't, or in the playoffs where these teams will eventually meet, then I'll judge and instruct my other judges to score on total quality of RP, not on style. If you write in narrative, then please don't feel like you can't do that for this tournament.
Meet Set-up
Each team shall have a captain, be he/she on the team or not. The captain can be a fedhead, a team member or an in-character "coach." That captain is responsible for getting me a lineup for each fed, i.e. who's wrestling in the singles match, the gimmick match and the tag match.
Judging
There will be a panel of three to five judges, depending on the diversity of turnout from various communities. I will be on that panel, as well as representatives from FW, PTC, WfWA, the angle fed community or whatever other community/indie fed bloc is involved to ensure fair representation.
Questions
Any other questions will be addressed here.
Deadline for entry
You have until no later than Saturday, August 4th at 11:59:59 PM (give or take a second) to enter.
Alright everyone, get your teams together and fight for interfederational pride!
