[CD] immortality...

Boston and other places.
(CUTTO: the waking hours of the morning, post-Almost Live. A heavily bandaged and banged up Felix Red is sitting on the roof of his swank luxury apartment building in Downtown Nowhere...It's a pretty chilly morning, so he's snuggled up in a black hoodie and Dickies, smirking slightly...)

FELIX: Between the idea and the reality falls the shadow. Don't be too hard on yourself, Psycho....It's a tricky place to be, for some...

What you're probably doing is licking your wounds. That's nice. You could use a lick or seven. You came (makes a tiny distance between thumb and forefinger) thiiiiis close. Or at least that's how it looks. Unless maybe I was paying close enough attention to realize nobody was going to have the wherewithal to count a pinfall in the midst of the big frickin' explosion. Unless maybe I knew exactly what I was doing....

You can tell yourself you got screwed. You can be an adult, accept personal responsibility, and tell yourself you got a little overeager, got caught up in the heat of the moment, made a stupid mistake, and blew the big one. You can tell yourself that, hey, turns out, Felix Red is just plain too tough for you to hang with...

But that's just more shadow. More intangible possibles. Lips locked. Ears shut. You can lie and lie and lie and lie and lie and then the truth comes out...In this instance, the truth is that Psycho is an absolute tool. But then, everyone aside from Psycho is already well aware of this...

That's my thing. I get annihilated. I get exploded. But the pain is just an idea, just another shadow. another hypothetical...which is basically all we've got going, here.

Gamma-O seems to have vanished back into the dream-realm from which he emerged. Which works out pretty great for me, except now what? Slap Psycho and/or Wells to death every once in a while to keep the paychecks coming in? Used to be, the championship belt was the big "Kick Me" sign, but everyone who messes with me ends up either dead, disappeared, or brutally maimed. With no real competition, could I be WFW champion forever? Do I want to be WFW champion forever? If I don't, is it too late to change my mind?

I suppose immortality is one of those "seemed like a good idea at the time" sort of things...But the deal, it would seem, is sealed. And I'm just going to have to get used to the idea...

That I'm never gonna die....
