RUNDOWN
Me.

RAIN CITY RONIN VS. THE HOLMSTROM BROTHERS
Again, top five biggest thumbs up situations with me is if you not only utilize an “active NPC” but really roll with their gimmick. Fantastic action, only nit pick I’d say is watch the formatting. The end is a little muddy. Even recap format, near the end, 1… 2… 3… ‘s and DING DING DING’s and the like help sort of block off matches and segments as much as the headers do.

FAT GUY, LITTLE COAT
And right off the bad, a pet peeve I’m seeing more and more. And I’m as guilty as anybody, just using Andy as the sacrificial lamb.

Backstage.

Any locker-room: the specifics don’t really matter.

It should matter. We’ve stopped establishing setting and just throw around “backstage” and “locker room” as a blanket cover-all-the-bases terms. Not saying EVERY vignette needs to be set up with paragraphs of descriptions but a a little legitimate scene setting NEVER hurts a seg. Interview segments can affort super scaled back “backstage / DEF banner” sort of set up… if it’s more than that? Take a minute to tell us where in the building you really are. More fantastic interplay between “Bobby Dane” (aka my favorite unit since ever) and the increasingly killer babyface Cayle Murray. Chris Farley references, always a win in my book.

FUCK SEAN JACKSON
Hey, look at that, just like I was saying lol. Not a lot to say but yyyyyyyyeah buddy. More old school talking to the camera sort of promos, especially on DEFtv, would be fantastic in my book. Also loved this because you kept Zane involved, she gets pushed aside sometimes during these segments. Good job dude.

HARMONY VS. REINHARDT HOFFMAN
Good match, like I’ve been saying the neat sort of understated feud between Harmony and Frank is really unique and has been handled well so far. I’d say kick it into overdrive now, have Harm really really show how pissed she is. I’m hoping for a really fire promo from her, also would love some words from Frank sort of defending his actions showing his somewhat misguided point of view. Good stuff.

JACK HUNTER DOES A BACKFLIP
Y’all crazy.

O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?
Fun story… in the last UNCUT history segment I mentioned a Dewey father, he’s apparently dead (as is mentioned in this segment) a result of a little miscommunication between D and I, so A. I retconned the UNCUT segment to read STEP-dad, and B. in this segment I popped in a “mom and Bill”... so officially, Mrs. Dewey found herself a nice neighborman to bone after Euge and Wayne’s pop died. And THAT folks is how to keep clean continuity!

Anyway, lol, this one was all Damien. God I missed Wayne and Dewey interacting, the pure unfiltered nerd talk / discussion. Wayne really was Eugene’s babyface compus. You immediately see that when they’re face to face. This is why Damien is so goddamn good, y’all.

CAYLE MURRAY VS. MUSHIGIHARA
BEST match if the night so far. Top shelf character development. Cayle falling to numbers / shenanigans, Dane smug as fuck. <3 everything about this puppy. This is the blueprint for how to A. utilize a nitch/weird character like Bobby in a legitimate/non-comedy based storyline B. and how to get some fresh to the fed babyfaces OVER LIKE A MOTHERfucker in one single arc.

ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACK
Loved that this was just Dante. Effective, perfect length.

UNDEFEATED!!!
A smidge long, perhaps. But as always, the legit funny is there. The razor's edge you guys walk between “too wacky” and complete dickbag-r-y is so pitch perfect. There’s so many ways these segments could either be too much or too over the top but the characters have such a clear voice it always works. I WOULD love (eventually) to see these two put in a situation that sort of sucks the “funny” out of the room though. When The Bruvs “get their comeuppance”, it’ll be one of those “moments” we copy and paste over and over and point to as some of our best work, mark my words.

THINGS ARE LOOKING SHAKY
Ask and ye’ shall receive, hot dog.

Harmony:
I really don’t want to hear it, Frank. Regardless of your personal opinions on women in wrestling, I am not some god damned princess in the ivory tower who needs protecting from the evils of the world while I braid my hair and talk to the fluffy little forest animals.

The volume of Harmony’s voice slowly rises and she takes a step towards Frank.

Harmony:
I can handle my own shit.

This. Perfectly delivered line. Perfectly encapsulated the whole arc. The set-up with Penn was goddamn great too with Curtis doing a majority of the talking and Frank… well, Frank just yelling. Inadvertently what’s sort of been planned around Frank and the DOC due to all the rebooking has ended up fantastic setup for post-DEFCON Onslaught related booking. Good stuff guys.

EUGENE DEWEY VS. SEAN JACKSON
Dames / edits from me.

THE LOOPHOLE
Me.

THERE BE MONSTER TRUCKS, ARRRRR!
Y’all crazy as hell, shit. (y’all know how good these are, jerks)

IMPULSE VS. CURTIS PENN
Fantastic build, classic heel shenanigans, incredible use of announcers and even the referee. SOME of the dialogue, especially announcer chatter, could have been bound together in more blocks of “action text” (not saying go full recap, but breaking up the talking with some well thought out “chains” of wrestling match is good on the eyes, imo) but other than that one quibble this was fantastic build.

MR. JACKSON
MUCH LOVE TO MIKE BELL Y’ALL! If you haven’t read his open letter to DEF, Mike just turned 50 and has decided to call it a “career” in ewrestling. I just want to put out there, Mike was one of a handful of people back when I started in NeWA back in the day that was ALWAYS kind and helpful to me, even when I was just awful at this game. He was always willing to give advice and tips or a supportive word. Our little “corner” of this hobby was better for you having been a part of it. Honestly. Stick around and read shows and give feedback, you’ll ALWAYS have access to every board here as far as I’m concerned, you’re a DEF lifer, retired or no. Enjoy your fam, old man! (fantastic segment, too, btw)

THE DAN RYAN COMEDY HOUR
Worked on this w/ mom and dad.

MIKEY UNLIKELY (C) VS. JASON NATAS
Now THAT was a main event. Well formatted near falls and crowd noise, perfect balance of descriptive text and announcer patter. Nothing else need be said. Match of the night, segment of the night, hands down.

Killer show folks. I noticed some grammar and editing mistakes in MY shit, so shame on me. lol

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- UNCUT #7 IS ON THE AIR!!

RUNDOWN
Enjoyable. Delightful. Four stars.

RAIN CITY RONIN VS. THE HOLMSTROM BROTHERS
No surprise I'm an RCR fan. Formatting maybe a little mushed. But I'm okay with it. I'm a fan.

FAT GUY, LITTLE COAT
I've done the "it doesn't matter" bit in descriptions before but you have to really sell that or really have a character that would say "fuck you, it doesn't matter" to pull this off. Probably shouldn't do it.

But the segment was funny.

FUCK SEAN JACKSON
Good solid stuff. Technically great and does what it needs to do, includes everyone that needs to be there.

HARMONY VS. REINHARDT HOFFMAN
I guess I've lost sight of this feud. I like Frank a lot and Harmony seems to be stepping up to that level of intensity.

JACK HUNTER DOES A BACKFLIP
LOL. Okay.

O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?
Love Eugene when Damien is engaged. What else is there to say? The guy's a pro.

CAYLE MURRAY VS. MUSHIGIHARA
Good job here getting everyone over. Lots to talk about here, but I'll just say I was entertained.

ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACK
Good stuff. Haven't been that engaged with this guy, but I'm digging it.

UNDEFEATED!!!
Wacky comedy. This is grade A stuff right here. No complaints.

THINGS ARE LOOKING SHAKY
Go Harmony :)

EUGENE DEWEY VS. SEAN JACKSON
Again, Damien doing stuff. Mike is leaving, right? Too bad. I like that character.

THE LOOPHOLE
You suck, Evan. You really really suck.

Just kidding.

Always love reading certain guys' work, and Evan is one of them. I can always count on the good stuff.

THERE BE MONSTER TRUCKS, ARRRRR!
Ha..

I didn't quite laugh out loud, but I smiled pretty hard.

IMPULSE VS. CURTIS PENN
Pete doesn't like this recap style, I can tell. :)

Eh, it was a good match, that's all that matters.

MR. JACKSON
Stone Cold beer hold up.

THE DAN RYAN COMEDY HOUR
I wrote this with Evan and Lindsay.

MIKEY UNLIKELY (C) VS. JASON NATAS
Glad some people are getting main event shine like this. Way to take the stage and nail it.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- UNCUT #7 IS ON THE AIR!!

OOC NOTE: Hey guys. Sorry my shit has been a little late recently. I strive to be one of the more active people and usually am annoyingly so. Big things have been going on in my life, and I appreciate the understanding. I was divorced in 2013 and have owned the house I bought with her since then. FINALLY the house sold and has been a ton of work getting it ready, and then executing the sale. Then I finally got a promotion at work and was handed a new list of responsibilities RIGGGGGHT before heading out on the road for a week of sales calls. Combine that with car shopping/ a long term relationship ending/ and my son starting sports, its just been HELLACIOUS! that being said, things seemed to have finally calmed down and ive caught up for the most part. I am back on track and SHOULD be back to my normal amount of activity. So this week I will once again be DEFIANCE-ing. beefing the dax (uncut) and flooding the chat. I hope you enjoyed your Mikey free vacation! ONTO THE BEEF!

  • The Rundown - Its a big week for DEFtv and it feels like it! The rundown goes over the big main events which are the focus here. WHO WILL DIE!?
  • Rain City Ronin vs The Holmstrom Bros - Love the teacher/student dynamic shining through in every one of Rain City matches. The Vikings showed up big a few weeks ago with the Trio titles win, then we haven't heard from them much since, This was a good way to keep the spotlight on the Trios Champs while pushing RCR. Great match writing here, one of the best match writers we have? Maybe not, but quickly getting up there (better than me for sure :p ) It just seems NATURAL for PCP and RCR to be feuding. Even the comments in the beginning of the match point to their differences, i would love to see these two teams get more heat with one another.
  • Fat Guy, Little Coat - Bobby Dean and Eric Dane continue to torment the Murrays, only this time Cayle is alone while Andy recovers from his “workout accident”. Nice segment keeping the heat to a top level. Looking forward to the Cayle/Mushi match.Dane as ref and Bobby outside definitely hamper Cayles chances. Loving this angle right now.
  • Fuck Sean Jackson - LOVED THIS SEG!!!!! Great way to hype the main event, go over Natas strengths and weaknesses and touch on his feud. This was a fantasitc quick piece of writing that just felt authentic. Terrific hype.
  • Harmony vs Reinhardt Hoffman - Nice quick match, DID NOT EXPECT Harmony to eat the loss but it makes total sense in regards to the angle. Loved it. Good description here and the story is more important than the match. Good stuff all around. Harmony is steadily improving.
  • Jack Hunter Backflips - This was funny, it didn't hit with me like it usually does, not sure why. I felt like Cecilworth was too much like Jack in the beginning of the seg, but by the end the pair had distinguished themselves as entirely different. Curious what was in the envelope tho.
  • O Brother - AWESOME! Great bit of history while keeping current with Eugene. I love this character and this seg was great. Is Eugene going face again? Time will tell, but im jacked to see this character back in the fold every week after that brief hiatus.
  • Mushi vs Sushi (calamari )- Brutal, fun, and michevious. Loved this match, Im a big fan of Mushi going in and am loving the slow play of his face turn? Or so it seems anyway. Danes fuckery was top notch here and would have driven anyone in the biz nuts. No doubt Cayle gets played and Mushi takes the win, loved it. Really kept me wondering who was going over.
  • Armchair QB - Horry is watching Mushis match in the back, preparing himself for DEFCON. Dante finds him and the two share some banter, nice quick segment.
  • UNDEFEATED!!!!! - Wrote this with MABOIS. Hope you enjoyed
  • Things are looking Shaky - FDJ is trying to protect Harmony, Harmony doesnt need it, and Curtis Penn is a cock sucker. Thats the bottom line here. Interesting angle, nice to see something so far from the ordinary here. Makes it easier to follow along.
  • Dewey vs Jackson - A nice back and forth wrestling fight here. Sean Jackson really works him over in the beginning in a nice forray. Eugene JUST starts getting the upperhand when the DEFATRON lights up with Bronson Box beating up the aforementioned Wayne Dewey. Nice way to end the match and give SJ a win.
  • The Loophole- oh shit what hellacious action. LOVED IT! Box and Eugene might have just jumped to my favorite angle already. Both characters are guys im a fan of, and the interaction here is stellar. GREAT WAY to bring new things into the fold. Way to go right from the match and continue the action.
  • There be Monster Trucks - I definately clicked the MIDI link to set the mood. This was hilarious, loved it. Better than the previous segment. I love how Cecilworth pats himself down like every person whos forgotten anything ever. Lol. Great description and execution. Looking forward to the showdown on next “weeks” DEFtv.
  • The relationship development between Angus and Cally is amazing. Every week we get farther and farther into it. This match has HYPE written all over it and im thinking it will live up to it. Loved the chain and technical wrestling mixed with message sending to one another. They try to play to their strengths but emotion gets the best of both men. Wonderful finish, absolutely awesome. Penn doesnt mind taking the cheap win, if Impulse does, then its his loss.
  • Mr Jackson - Lisil!? nope/…. Lance Warner catches up with Sean Jackson who has some choice words for Dane and Natas. Good stuff, whomever is writing Jackson in Mikes absence is killing it!
  • The Dan Ryan Comedy Hour - WOAHHHHHHH. Dan Ryan vs Box next week on DEFTV! Yesssssssss. Amazing. Dan Ryan completely no sells Lindsey Troys contendership before she interrupts him. Ryan goes off on a barage of jokes at Box and Lindz-c-Trois expense. Nice segment hyping a big match next week, with the DEFCON arc as well. Top Notch.
  • Unlikely vs Natas (SOHER) - Wrote this with Eddie MURRRRRRRphy! Lots of fun! Always love working with Murrrrrr. Hope you enjoyed.

Quick edit, the opener was in the middle of the card somehow. Popped it back at the start. All is well.

HISTORY LESSON
Me. Hope y'all enjoyed these. With Damien stepping away after DEFCON and he and I having such a long history together with Box and Eugene, dating back to DEF's RP's era, I figured the angle needed a little historical context to really have the match land like we want it. It was also super fun slipping on Ed White's loafers again. Ed was brilliantly handled by an ex-handler who left him, Jane and Nicky in our/my care. I've sort of "claimed" Jane and Nicky as mine at this point but Ed was and is always William's just due to how untouchable he was when he was behind Ed's segments and RP's back in the day.

We should totally see if he'd be willing to come back, lol. I'd love to have The real Socialite back in DEF again.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
Fantastic little vignette. I love little character building stuff like this, done for no other reason than it's goddamn fun to write and build out characters. Good job dude. UNCUT doesn't have to be these big marathon segments. Just quiet little entertaining glimpses can be killer, and always a good exercise to keep your creative writing muscles loose. A.B.W. Always be writing.

PAWN TO E8
Again, short little glimpse, just a little vignette setting up next DEFtv. If we had one or two more little segments like this we wouldn't be having the "should we still UNCUT" discussions. (it's staying, I love UNCUT too much, just sayin'... it's getting a little thin lately.) Good segment, sir.

STRIPEES AND GAUNTLETS
Love this, Kelly playing the babyface GM but still setting up a challenge for Sharp to overcome (like a good semi-unbiased authority figure should)... the reaction from Mikey and Kendrix to Kelly dropping Sharp's name was wonderful, totally on point. You guys are on fire lately. Love when people use UNCUT like this too, directly booking and setting up matches for DEFtv. Slick pre-planning bruvs. Heh.

PLEASURE? NOT IN THIS DOME...
This UNCUT's unintentionally become the Kelly Evans Show, lol...

Curtis Penn is pretty much my favorite character in DEFIANCE. This was simple, no frills, manipulative heel work at its finest. Perfect low-key but flawless segment to end the show on.

I'll admit, we probably don't need to be doing an UNCUT every off week. Justin's idea was maybe before and after the PPV's? Lead in and reaction cards? That sort of thing? Or maybe limit it to one in the middle of the arc, one before the PPV? We all agree UNCUT serves an amazing purpose, a home for stuff that just dosen't fit on a DEFtv or PPV card... but when it's thin its thin. And we DO have news and propaganda boards for a lot of between card antics... so, in addition to feedbacks please feel free to leave thoughts and ideas on this issue, plz n' thanks.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

  • Show Opener - LOL Cameo from Don and Rich. Hilarious.
  • History Lesson part 2 - This is a very good “Panel Show” format. I enjoyed the way its written and the content is very good history on the angle. I enjoyed the segment but felt a little tired by the end of it. Lots of drama at the end, setting the stage for a huge explosion.
  • Happy Fathers Day! - She's not Calico Rose today; her name is Rosalyn Callasanto…. No its not. Its always Calico Rose… to the fans. This is one thing I always dislike. When it comes to what the fans see, why are you breaking character? I’ve never in my life heard “Today he’s not Kane, today he is Glen Jacobs.” (sorry not sorry). Not a bad segment, didn't really do much for any angles, but was good Character development.
  • Pawn to e8 - Im so confused on Mushi, no idea if hes heel or face anymore. Hes feeling Monsterous still but sometimes he comes off like hes turning but Dante here is firing up the heels feels. Looking forward to it, because I like the character.
  • Stripees and Guantlets - Wrote this up quick with Steven and Lindz. Hope you enjoy, setting up next weeks show.
  • Pleasure? - Great Seg with Curtis Penn and Kelly Evans setting up the DOC title match at DEFtv67. Very good, enjoyed this one very much.

Keep it. Even if its 3 segs. it can be a "internet show" on the Defiance website. doesnt have to be a "Certain length" sometimes you need a filler in your feud. perfect example is this week. We planned out the arc weeks ago and set every single thing up, but coming up on DEFTV67 I noticed "SHIT! We didn't set up the gauntlet and all the segs are reserved before the match!" BOOM! 1 uncut seg fixed the whole deal. now that match is booked, and the show can go on as planned. I love uncut and Ive submitted to every single one I believe. Now that we've opened apps back up these new guys that come in will be looking for a forum to show off their character development. PLEASE leave Uncut for that reason, because I dont wanna see that shit on the already long DEFtvs.

The people who dont wanna Uncut dont have to Uncut....

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

OPENER
Loved it. An occasional guest star in the opener could be fun.

HISTORY LESSON
Always enjoying history lessons. I love the stories, the nuances, etc - that go into this game for the people who have been doing it forever. Love it when feuds run for years, flare up, simmer down, and create a real history that you can sink your teeth into.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
Mine. Wasn't going to do anything for the show, wasn't feeling it - until the deadline was pushed back because of father's day and I thought "Why not do something related to that?" Then I remembered that my duo in DEF included one dead father and one deadbeat father, so I had to improvise. To Mikey's point, I get it, but I've also established both Pulse and Cally under Mick Foley rules - they're just as inclined to go by or answer to their "stage name" as they would their real name. No big, though.

PAWN TO E8
Mine? Naaah, I just posted for the man. Echoing the other comments, you don't need a long ridiculous thing to get a point over.

STRIPEES AND GAUNTLETS
Another example as to why Kelly Evans is the best authority figure - she's not a face or a heel, she's just doing her thing and trying to balance the board. The Bruvs are twats, so she wants to punish them, but she also concedes that Andy Sharp needs to earn his shot. Well played, innit.

PLEASURE? NOT IN THIS DOME...
Curtis Penn gets what he wants. However, not is all as it seems. One of my favorite characters and the best heel in DEF after Lindsay Troy.

Gonna say I don't think we should worry about Uncut going on or off. Like this week, as of Sunday night there was just the intro and Evan's History segment reserved; if nothing else came in we could've skipped it but as long as we have at least, I dunno, three? things to go up, I think there's value in an every-off-week show.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

Opener: Fan dabby tastic! This is a great idea. Nice sign off as well!

History Lesson: This kind of seg works a treat for me. Great background on some of the history of Defiance and has me keen to see how this feud develops. Top stuff!

Happy Fathers Day: Huge feels for this and in line with the time of year. Great character development too.

Pawn To E8: I smell a plan coming. Sets up the match at Def TV 67 and I'm intrigued to find out what they have up their sleeves!

Stripees and Gauntlets: I wrote this with Mikey and Lindz...so it was perfect, OBVS!

Pleasure?: Awesome seg. Was totally into this one. Great back and forth between Penn and Evans, Penn knows how to push the right buttons and gets what he wants!

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

Intro/Impulse/Penn -
LOOOOOOOVED THIS SEGMENT! So much goodness. Impulse comes out and takes it like a man, right on the chin. Admits he would rather lose than win unfairly (sucker!). He wants one more match with Penn who eventually shows up and declines, saying he has more important things to take care of. Got a feeling this doesn’t end here tonight. Great seg guys, really pulled me back in with this one, felt authentic and wasnt too drawn out. Impulse without Cally and all the theatrics comes off as humble af. Penn comes off like the a shit head. Perfect!

Sam Horry vs Levi Cole

This match was good, I like how Horry does his interviews always prematch. It makes a lot of sense and I could have done the same this week to condense a bit but oh well. I’m a fan of this feud and the characters in it, although I would question the ending here. I think the distraction was played off well and was effective, but a Horry win makes it almost mute that it happened. On the other hand Mushi sometimes teases face and then goes right back to this darker side so i have no idea whats going on with him. Enjoyed this, but I think if Horry eats a loss it means more here for the feud.

Hard Hitting Questions:

Hhahahahahaha WTF? Amazing. The silence and staring was almost as good as the dialogue.

Andy Sharp vs S.E.G.
WOW, For as fast as seth put this together it was a fucking banger! Amazing. This was my first look at it, (of course i gave permission) and it was really good. I thought it told a very good story and in the end it did a great job of not only hyping DEFCON but the match later tonight with LARs involvement. Loved the ending! Loved the whole thing really, great job!

An End, Once and For All/Cayle Murray vs Eric Dane:
These are basically one long spot so ill include them together here. The seg before the match is very good and lets you know Cayle is done playing and is ready to fight, and for some reason Dane accepts his challenge for right here tonight….hows this going to play out? IDK but its not the end… lol

Yep… knew it! Lol. As soon as Dane said “you want A MATCH?”... I thought for sure Bobby Dean but this is great! Love these Viking guys, excited to see em on TV again! Awesome match that ended how it SHOULD. Love this about Murrr, not above getting CRUSHED for the sake of the angle. This was well written and fun to read. As a heel, I loved the beatdown, as a fan I wanna see Murray kill Dane.

Signed and Sealed in Blood!
Enjoyed this bit very much, glad to see the match made, although the stipulation is lost on me if its anything more than a street fight. Im sure Dane will address this however :) Good stuff, great hype and good showing on this card for this feud.

Teaser Trailer:
I wrote this… hope you enjoyed!

Mikey vs LAR:

I wrote this too! Hope you enjoyed! (Apparently I don't know the name of our ring announcer…. My bad, will fix next time)

Conclave Chaos:
HAHAHAHAHA YUS!!! Genius! Loved last weeks big coup when Box carved up Eugenes fam. This is a good retaliation and a good ‘loophole’ to the rules. He destroys the “home” of Bronson Box. All his hard work and sweat in the training center, ruined. AWESOME! Loved it. Great way to continue to build!

FDJ vs Penn:
Holy shit what a brutal match. Loved it, definitely legitimized Penn a little more in my mind. FDJ walks out champ but it was a hard fought battle. Impulse just walking out and without a word hitting his finisher on Penn threw me off a bit, seemed a bit rushed? Hopefully the upcoming seg will shed some light.

Blowing It Up Differently:
So wait… Impulse comes down to the ring, hits his finisher in what could MAYBE be described as “self defense” and then TELLS the Heel that they are HAVING a match at DEFCON whether he likes it or not, that the Heel already declined earlier in the night… now its a match and the heel has no say? Did Kelly Evans make this match? Or is impulse a GM now? When did he get Eric Dane/Kelly Evans matchmaking powers? How does this happen without any say from Penn? This made little sense to me and I don’t like it… complete 180 from early in the show. (Dont make me call you Pastor Hopper!)

A Motive Not All That Ulterior:
A nice, short, continuation of earlier. This one was good :)

Lighting Fires:
HYPE TRAIN DESTINATION MAIN EVENT.

Bronson Box vs Dan Ryan:
Hell of a match between these two. Surprised not to see Lin-C Troy show up! NOT EVEN MENTIONED once in the show other than a callback to a time she was speared. thats my only critisism Dan Ryan wins clean in the end and pins one of his rivals. Box looks strong af in this match, but does not have enough. Ryan retains and is moving on to DEFCON. Nice main event, and even tho it wasnt very long, it didnt FEEL short.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

“RUNDOWN”
Love when people co-opt the rundown for an in ring, good stuff here.

HORRY V COLE
Really excited to see the next couple arcs develop for Sam and Mushi. Keep up the good work guys.

HARD HITTING QUESTIONS
<3 (that’s balls, not a heart) … <3 (okay, that’s a heart) … (I lied their both balls)

SHARP VS. THE S.E.G. (hah… what a meta ewrestling faction name)
I say it every damn card, you boys are killin’ it every rattle out of the box. I sincerely can’t wait to see Mikey and Kendrix sort of forced out on their own for DEF MAX.

AN END, ONCE AND FOR ALL / CAYLE V “ERIC DANE” / SIGNED AND SEALED IN BLOOD
I’m pretty sure at this point my favorite ongoing feud is the whole Dane/Dean/Murray’s saga. Absolutely top notch writing and booking every single time Andy and Justin put their brains together.

TEASER TRAILER / MIKEY UNLIKELY (C) VS. L.A.R.
See above. #HEEL

CONCLAVE CHAOS
Bronson promo was me, Conclave trashing was all Damien. Wonder Twin powers activate. Went a little long, but it was sort of the lynchpin segment of the whole feud, so… suck it. With love.

FRANK DYLAN JAMES (C) VS. CURTIS PENN / BLOWING IT UP...DIFFERENTLY
Even with as hard as the Bruvs are killin’ it right now, goddamn Curtis Penn is STILL my favorite character in DEF. This match was my match of the night, exceptionally written. Penn / Impulse has been damn damn good. We worried and pondered how well Impulse as such a tenured legacy character would fly in DEF, but that was obviously for not. Lots of very different but VERY well written segments have really given Impulse super strong standing.

A MOTIVE NOT ALL THAT ULTERIOR
Like I said above, Sam and Rob have things set up to just slay the next couple arcs. Keep it up fella’s.

And the next segment and match I wrote, yadda yadda.

I dare you to find a more storyline driven efed on the goddamn internet. Honestly, look at this card. Three or four major long term angles pushed in several incredibly well written segments, a plotted out YEAR LONG plan coming to fruition in a few weeks. WhatEVER happens with DEF over the coming days, weeks, months, hopefully years… nobody can take away that accomplishment. We planned a YEARS worth of shows and we’re about to finish that plan.

You want something to advertise to bring in new writers? That’d be pretty high on my list of selling points. Hell, it WAS the selling point for Mikey, Andy and the rest of the Utah boys. The chance to plan something out, see that plan come together and build to a real conclusion.

Fuck yeah us.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

The Rundown

I wrote this.

Horry vs. Cole

Squash match, but it furthers the Horry/Mushi story which is awesome. It feels like a moment in a respectful rivalry where the hero realizes his antagonist doesn't feel the same way. Sam is gonna have some shit to toss.

Hard Hitting Questions

I wrote this. More to the point, I wrote this in about 3 minutes because we needed a segment to break up two matches. Shows you how easy it is to get something over. Do more of this.

Andy Sharp vs. The Hollywood McFuckasses

On one hand, the finish was telegraphed from at least two weeks ago - there was no mystery or tension. On the other hand, it's always satisfying to see the babyface overcome the odds and earn his date with destiny.

An End, once and for all/Squid vs. Baaws

Transitional and awesome. Squidboy and Dane add another layer to their house of fuck. My sole criticism is that we got entrances during their match. This has been a feud of such white hotness that I believe they would've rung the bell and started brawling on the spot, and a referee would've joined them in a minute or so. Even with the bait and switch to the Vikings, they were both in the arena - it made no sense to go back and come back out. But that's small potatoes.

Signed and Sealed

And we have a match for DEFCON. I think we all saw it coming, but it's always a little extra to see it form.

Teaser Trailer

Interesting twist. Yes, Andy Sharp earned a SoHER shot at DEFCON but will it be against Mikey? He's defending tonight against a guy that might have his number.

Mikey vs. LAR

Not a good night for the SoHER - Andy Sharp wins his gauntlet, and then he needs the gauntlet's help to beat LAR. Total chickenshit heel - and a genius one at that.

Conclave Chaos

Box vs. Eugene is an awesome feud. Not only is it of the old gods, but it provides enough guidance along the way so that newcomers can pick up on it is a rare gift.

FDJ vs. Penn/Blowing it Up

Lots of storylines coalescing into one here. I liked this match and all of the extracurriculars, even though it might be a bit self serving. And I can see Mikey's point with 'Why does he get to book a match?' but at the same time, Impulse and his quiet stoicism have been no-selling Curtis Penn for weeks, and I wanted to make it clear that Penn got under his skin with the cheap win and the early-show dismissal. Hopefully the majority enjoyed.

Motives Ulterior

More Horry/Mushi build. Beautiful.

Lighting Fires

Hype

Asian Daniel Ryan vs. BOXER

Good decisive win for the champ; he gets a victory over the Original Defiant, Box shows his chops in a close match, and both DEFCON matches that these two are involved in get even more anticipated with the brawl.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

Psssssst... er'body should do feedback. See how short most of these are? It's super not hard and literally everybody in the fed top to bottom should do this after every show. (if you're reading the shows, obvs... if you're not, WTF)

Here's a thing. How about if you DON'T do feedback you post real quick why you haven't?

I'm seriously curious, especially since we've said (and demonstrated) you don't have to write a novel / its fine to just say in one line "I enjoyed this show a lot because A, B, C, D" and boom, done.

If we're not sharing with one another what we think of our work, we're just pissing into the proverbial wind guys.

Even better are the people who promise they are working on feedback and then never show up. If you'e not going to beef, then don't lie about it. This should be something you WANT to do. Everyweek when I read the show I WANT my peers to know what I thought about their stuff. some stuff grabs you and keeps you entertained and its worth letting people know.

I will do feedback as soon as time allows me to cut down on my list of a thousand things I'm responsible for that need to be done which are ahead of writing feedback.

Re: DEFCON ARC DISCUSSION THREAD -- DEFtv 66 IS LIVE!

The only two people excused from timely feedbacks are you and mom, Brunk. Obvs. Er'body else should at least pop up here like, shit, THREE or four things you dug from the show at the very least.

Go segment by segment, do a top five list, post a literal sentence about what you liked or didn't, do it in character if that tickles your butthole lol.

Whatever form you want you reaction / thoughts on the card to take goddamn run with it. Feedback has no format, most of us go seg by seg just because that's the "industry standard" don't feel you have to do that.
