Defiance Wrestling has just reached a settlement with Amy Estracado.
Ms. Estracado was injured the card before Defiance closed by Bronson Box. Negative fallout from the event lead to Defiance’s financial backers pulling their support from the show, which cut the legs out from under the promotion.
The word is that Ms. Estracado has now reached a settlement with Eric Dane and Cito Conarri. They have arrived at an undisclosed financial settlement, which we understand is “extensive”. In return, she has provided Dane with an affidavit that states she will take no further legal action against Defiance or its sponsors.
She may still take legal action directly against Bronson Box, and Dane and Conarri both agreed that Box would receive no legal or fiscal support from anyone employed by or associated with Defiance.
There has been no word about where Defiance will go from here. However, with the affidavit, Defiance is a much less risky product for sponsors , but one must assume that between the suddenly reduced risk for sponsors and the fact that Defiance still has several highly marketable wrestlers on its roster, the promotion still has a future. Where it goes from here, however, is up to Eric Dane.
Or, depending on how much money he has left after the settlement, whomever he finds to sponsor Defiance.
