On the heels of the controversial All-Star Week PPV's, New Frontier Wrestling trudged on through to the next week of their Ultratitle season where Eddy Love and Deacon made their NFW in-ring debuts as well as one of the original NFW roster members returned.

The NFW North begun their co-existence with the Seven Deadly Sins on an awkward foot as the influx of new faces in the NFW South caused earlier problems to escalate, while creating a whole new sense of chaos ready to envelop the second half of the season.

State of the Union!

FEEDBACK: Man, did that match (Southern/Deacon) take a long time to write. For the cats that don't know me-- when I write a match, I try to put in some thought as to how I want it to come off and the story I want it to tell. Ironman or 2-out-of-3 matches are my favorite types of matches in wrestling to watch (Rocky/HHH, Angle/Lesnar, Bret/Shawn all told AMAZING stories). I've written two ironman style matches-- one in the CSWA (Troy/Eddy Love vs. Eli/Hornet) and now the Deacon/Shane matches. In both matches, I knew how I wanted them to end. So, I had to figure out how to get to the end from the beginning. Having a time limit as opposed to just "one fall wins the match" means you can incorporate a LOT more into the story of the match.

I tried to do that with Deacon/Shane-- make it like a chess match. Deacon does this move, Shane counters with this-- while also incorporating their weaknesses into it-- Shane is distracted from the turmoil of his emotional life and Aaron Douglass/Shawn Matthews, Deacon is in his first BIG match after recovering from a disease.

I hope I don't sound like a cock when I say this, but sometimes you just write something and KNOW it came off the way you wanted it to. I definitely felt that after I wrote this match and I hope that you all did after reading it. It's the first BIG match I've written in at least a few months and I think it's one of my best.

My only gripe with the match-- I originally wanted the end to be a little bit different. I didn't QUITE want to do a buzzer-beater scenario but I kind of wrote myself into a corner. What I initially envisioned was Shane rolling up Deacon with a few seconds left but Deacon rolling out and saving the win but I thought that maybe was too unrealistic at the 30 minute mark. Any thoughts?

Best Segment: Like everybody else said, Rabesque/Troy. Man, that was some intriguing, slimy stuff. That was a breakout NFW moment for both characters.

Storyline Thoughts: The SDS/East/South stuff is coming off just how I thought it was going to. We wanted to drop a BOMBSHELL at All-Star Week and freak everybody the **** out. We did that. The next step? Telling that story while we also incorporate the individual chase for the Ultratitle. I thought that this was a great transition card for that purpose and a lot of fun stuff came off it.

Hottest Feud: Shane/Douglass. Really, really awesome stuff. Great work from Martin and Beckowski. I also REALLY dug Steel Viper vs. Cameron Cruise.

Wrestler of the Night: Hmm... I don't know who to say.
---------

I think everyone is starting to really GET the Ultratitle chase now. It took a few shows of feeling it out to get things completely right.

The initial idea for this type of league came from Japan and WCW. I read in some wrestling dork thing that Bischoff had thought the idea up for WCW-- to have an "annual champion" or something like that. Japanese promotions like New Japan Juniors and the Real World Tag Leage in All Japan do similar things, also, but are really hard to follow because of the language barrier.

Our initial concept for turning the NFW into this style-- we wanted to build to an ending point and wanted to see everybody making alliances and sabotaging each other on the way to victory. Would your guy sacrifice his morales to get victory? Would you allow your guy to be trusted and to trust opponents to serve his ultimate purpose?

We got hurt by the non-stop roster changes that really hit our league hard (and also, me and JN have had a lot of bouts of The Real World but Katz has kept this like CLOCKWORK). I think we've settled that problem and now, now the REAL show is going to begin.

I seriously want, hope and expect that the build-up to the Ultratitle is going to be the hottest stuff in FW. Period.

FEEDBACK: Like I told, and agreed with, Katz in IMs, this is arguably the best card so far, and the most cohesive in terms of segment and match flow.

Best Segment: Manson's, Eddy Love/Shane Southern, Shane Southern/Aaron Douglass (I know you spelled that incorrectly on purpose, Gregg ;))

Thanks for the props on the segments with Troy/Melton/Rabesque (especially from you, Gregg. what you said means a lot.) Hopefully more good things will follow. ;)

Storyline Thoughts: Lookin good, everyone!

Hottest Feud: Southern/Matthews/Douglass, Eddy vs. Everyone Not Named Joey Melton

Wrestler of the Night: props go to Southern

Best Segment: I liked the main event. Great match. Good ending.

Storyline Thoughts: I'm intersted to see where the takeover of the North goes.

Hottest Feud: Gotta go with Southern/Douglas/Matthews. But I guess I am partial to that. :)

Wrestler of the Night: Aaron Douglas because he gets no respect. :(

On tha real...I gotta go with Deacon.

Commentary from the Viper/Cruise match:

CARLTON: “And millions of gamblers worldwide lose on their sure bet of the evening – poor them…hahaha – THEY’RE POOR!”

Tell me about it. I almost bet the house on that one.

I gotta thank Gregg for the props and Joe honestly (and no, this isn't to be made sounded like its SPECTACULAR), because the guy really got things going in this one. Viper/Cruise is turning out to be something really I guess underrated, and I thank him for it.

I'll try and respond with what I hope doesn't end with a call for the decapitation of my head.

FEEDBACK:

As Lindsay said this was the most cohesive card we've had yet. NFW cardwise is getting closer to my vision of handlers making Crash TV what its all about. Considering that the fedheads have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at the roster without warning them, I'd like to congratulate them on answering everything perfectly this week and really putting out awesome work.

Best Segment:

I'd go with a tie - Falling in and Out of Love, that was an amazing segue piece. Troy Affairs - Stealing Vanity, that one had me cracking up heavily.

Storyline Thoughts:

The NFW East frightens me cause Mike will have mostly free reign on that. ;) I'm wondering how that will turn out, should be interesting.

Troy/Rabesque was unexpected, but has intrigued me about Jean's character outside the ring. He's all straight and narrow in the ring, are we about to find out he's a real slimeball out of it?

Eddy Love is back, ladies and gentleman - he's got the whole South in a tizzy and has really upped the ante there.

Southern/Douglas is pure GOLD right now. I'm loving Matthews taking advantage of that too, without really liking either of those guys. Vivian Ryconik returning finally confirmed all my thoughts during the RPs b/t Southern and Rick all those eons ago. :p

Melton/Troy and Cal...this week was all fun and games, but I have a feeling the hammer is about to drop there. I'll be interested to see if we're gonna see a fired up Melton out of it.

I'd say something about Hornet, but Chad's last RP confounds me more than Stanton's diatribes on the Kennedy assassination. I'll just say I'm along for the ride and I hope its a good one. :)

I have a feeling that Viper/Cruise will be a feud with playoff implications...one of those where the loser gets sent home early. Which means it'll be a blast to watch Joe and Tom go at it tooth and nail. :p

The NFW North looks like its about to implode (not in a bad way). With what happened to Shizaki, I'm interested to see how guys like Shizaki and Ryan who hate each other now we'll be forced to team up for the time being...or, if that'll be something they use to dupe each other.

Marx is turning into quite the NFWite with his newfound propensity to take on some crushing spots. That makes me smile.

I'd comment on Christian Sands, but Jeff might kill me. ;) I'll just say his situation should be unique since its almost like his character is getting dragged into something he was trying to avoid.

We have a new Phenom, whom we'll see if he can step it up. Michal and I have planned some interesting things, so I'm excited for that.

I tried to hit on everything that developed further this week, if I missed anything its surely because I smoke too much pot and forgot. ;)

Hottest Feud:

I think Douglas/Matthews crowning Southern during that spot takes the cake. Matthews costing Southern the match against Deacon, well that's like icing and candles. I just sit back and say, "poor, poor Shane...when will this all end for him?"

Wrestler of the Night: I'm gonna go with Eddy Love by a hair over Shane Southern. Both men were all over the map, but Eddy played the sneaky heel to perfection on the show. Yeah, Shane got him...but he got out of there without any scars from it. Plus, the shady victory over Hornet which was ridiculously awful...still was enough to prove that he's here to play for keeps.

FEEDBACK:

Sorry it's taken me a little to respond here. I forget this topic is here sometimes :)

Whew...that was an awesome card. So much going on, so many stories within stories. I think we've finally found our stride here, and the second half should be something to see.

Best Segment:
Uhhh...enjoyed Love/Southern/Douglas/Mathews, but I was part of writing that, so ... I'm going with Troy/Rabesque. Miss Troy is becoming quite the sought after "item" around these parts.

Storyline Thoughts:
I'm loving it all. As far as Southern goes, this has really be the first extended angle/storyline I've done with him. It's always been really hard to come up with something for a character like him, as the ultra-baby face. Bringing him over a little to the "dark side" has opened up a lot of possibilities that just didn't make sense for the "old" Southern.

Hottest Feud:
The SDS/NFW North thing is hot.

Wrestler of the Night:
Deacon.

I'm not going to hit the specifics, as I'm STILL trying to get a feel for the NFW, but I will give kudos to those involved in the show. The segs seemed to flow well and the matches were solid. For the Deacon/Southern match - excellent work on the psychology. It made perfect sense for Deacon to work for an early lead using his obvious size and power advantage. It also made perfect sense that the same advantage early was a crutch later! I thought it was brilliantly wrote! Kudos, Gethard!

Looking forward to the next show so I can see what happens next!

Check that out. I replied without opening a new topic like all you old hats.

I also don't realize this is up here so I was likewise tardy in my breakdown, as was Jason.

I also am new and feeling out the NFW, but I've never been quite as politically correct as warren so I'm gonna risk hurting feelings to give my props to those I thought deserved it.

Best Segment- I LOVEd the Troy/Rabisque/Melton bit, especially Melton's tough descision on whether he wanted to know if she kissed him back.....BUT I'll have to vote it a close runner up to Mathews/Southern/Douglass. I mean it had a neck brace, a wheel chair and a man wincing in pain. I still mark for ya Mad Dog and now I'll add Jason and Mathews' handler to the mark for list.

Storyline Thoughts: OK I'm ready to bring Eddy over to the new division. It's an interesting twist. I was expecting a bigger presence from Prosser and his group here, but maybe I missed something I need to reread, since I saw Jason mention it. The South is on fire. It of course is the division I read the most in depth, but Melton/Troy, Hornet, Southern, Deacon, Mathews and Douglas are the hot story to me right now.

Hottest Fued: Douglas/Southern for me.

Wrestler of the night: Mathews signs with Douglas punks Southern and costs Southern his match. I know it sent me to the archives to find out who this guy was.

I'd mark for Greg but he already knows I think he's an FW God so it'd just be repetitive. Instead I'll scold him by saying RP a character you slackard, some of us like your mic work even MORE than your card stuff.

Thanks to Katz for the kind words on Eddy's first night back and for inviting me to be a part of this killer story yall are telling. You guys are hot right now and that's always fun to be a part of. It always took 3 months to get Eddy Love beating Hornet posted on the CSWA site.

Thanks again to everyone. Give me a shout if I can be of help.

Ed
