(It is a reflective Lawrence Stanley who stares at the camera, he seems unsure about what to say and shuffles uncomfortably from foot to foot as the cameraman checks the light. Stanley glances sideways at Alfred who is sitting on the other side of the room, he nods in Stanley’s direction and sips a cup of tea. The cameraman walks back behind the camera and motions to the Gent that he is ready to start.)

LS: It is an apprehensive Lawrence Stanley who stands before you now, a side of “The English Gent” many have not publicly seen but who is present as I speak. My mood of concern is in regard to the man I face for the United States title at Primetime in a few days. Shane Southern and I have crossed paths over the last few months, but the goings on behind the scenes and publicly at the CSWA have caused me to re-think the situation I find myself in.

I am caught between a rock and a hard place, on one hand I want to prosper professionally and win the US title, but at the same time I respect Southern and Windham’s stance against the GXW and the PTA. I find myself in a split decision between personal and moral judgements, if you like extrinsic and intrinsic rewards. I am unsure whether the current factions in the CSWA will affect our match on coming up or not.

Then there is Battle of the Belts, where yet again we will be on opposing sides, but this time we will be mixed in with those we detest. There is some sick genius involved in this match’s creation and whilst I welcome the opportunity I feel it will cause more friction in the CSWA locker room, which I dare say is why the match was created.

As far as Shane Southern goes as a person I have nothing bad to say about the man, as a wrestler his achievements speak for themselves, his progress in the CSWA considering his time here are exceptional, and in our previous bouts we have been matched evenly. Yet there is a new energy about the CSWA, having come back from its brief hibernation I feel there is a zip and a zest about the corporation and anyone who can seize opportunities that come their way could see themselves as the flagship player in the CSWA.

That is why I find this match so important, that is why my mind changes tact on a regular basis, I want to stay loyal to the CSWA, but I have strong urges to put in danger my social relationship with Southern in my pursuit for the US title. After all, business is business, and mixing it with pleasure is always a bad idea. I owe it to my CSWA contract, myself, Alfred, and most importantly, the fans, to give it my all when I face Southern at Primetime.

Southern….Shane…I find your cause admirable, and I hope to help you fight it very soon, but Primetime is a different matter. You have something I desire, and I will give my all to try and make it mine. Bring everything you have, Lawrence Stanley, “The “English Gent”, is ready, willing and able to take you on, one on one. We may be fighting out of the same corner in the bigger picture, but for the time being I have you firmly in my sights, very soon I will pull the trigger and collect my prize, enjoy your title reign whilst you can, soon it will be all but a memory. Until that day happens, I bid you a good day.
