To clarify, Steve is suspended until I hear from him, at which point I'll make a decision.

If I don't hear from him in a timely fashion, the firing will stand.

so ive a bit behind but this show caught me up to speed real quick, I need to go back and read last 2 shows.

What I liked. A lot of overlapping stuff, makes things feel more real and the wrestlers less isolated from each other.

The bad. I wish I would of added a few lines of commentary in the segs I did.

other then that the show flowed pretty well to me.

Is it me or can I see a interesting trios team of Ty Walker Donovan and Matthews?

loved the FDJ vs Mushi stuff.

BDH repin hard loved there stuff with Hoss and LBC

Loved the Dane stuff

Penn and Donovan looks like a good feud brewing. in fact can not wait for a few feuds to boil and boil, then explode.

Dewey and Heidi good stuff here.

all in all a very good show. ill put out a more detailed feedback later but right now im goin on 3 hours sleep and body is saying fuck you James.

Normally I'm right there to bitch about NOFEEDBAX but this is a huge show, I don't mind if people need a few days to get through the whole thing.

This week, so far, has been like an ex girlfriend, a fucking bitch. I have seen that the show is posted, but I haven't read it yet. I have not opened the link, so there will be no feed back. Reason is I've worked 12 since Tuesday and I am scheduled to do so until Monday. And that's my off day, so if I can squeeze in in between spending time with my family and sleep I will, but if I cannot I do apologize to everyone who participated on the card, I'm sure the stuff is amazing.

NO FEEDBACK YOU SAY?

BOOM!

MEETING NEW PEOPLE
Lindz and I wrote this with assists from Asa, Justin and Shane.

THE BAWS’ RETURN
Gets the job done, classic Dane/TD style is always nice to see.

THE RUNDOWN
I wrote the bulk of this, the initial reaction to Dane’s appearance was all Justin (I think).

MATCH - JASON NATAS DEBUT
Solid beatdown. One thing I like from a nitpicky point of view is, you didn’t have a big guy like Natas doing a Busaiku Knee and getting big air for it, opting for one to a downed opponent. It’s a little like that which makes more sense in the overall.

SHOTS FIRED
Other than some typos that could have used correcting, I really liked this promo. It establishes him as a rough around the edges, no nonsense babyface that’s here to open a can on anyone who gets put in front of him... And god help any fools who want to beef with him.

LOYALTY
So far we’re doing this right. White and Dane trading “wins” in a variety of ways is exactly how this should go for the next little while.

MATCH - SAM TURNER JR v JAKE DONOVAN
Solid TV match, not much else to say.

LBC INTERVIEW
Ace with the serious talk, how dare you refuse the Don of pro wrestling. Good stuff, Damien.

YOU KNOW HOW IT IS
Blue, Rob and Myself wrote this.

WELCOME TO DEFIANCE pt.1
Dig it, continues to sell the first Dane segment.

CURTIS CLUTCH CHALLENGE QUATTRO
Curtis be shootin’ on everybody tonight before he gets into doing what he does… BOOM! Jake with the save, Curtis with the err grr how dare you challenge, hah, good setup for the PPV dudes.

KLEPTOMANIAC
So many lulz, I lulz’d teh hardest at this:

Frank Holiday:
The hell would I want with that thing anyway? I already know what’s in it. “Dear Diary, I look like a Mike and Ike experiment gone horribly wrong and I suck massive donkey balls.”

Oh shit and then Kels shows up, she’s already not happy about everything. Very good stuff, in fact, Frank Holiday is appointment reading now that he has a target to focus on. Expecting good things from the match and looking forward to what you guys end up doing with it in the aftermath.

MATCH - DON-HO v HEIDI
I wrote the wrestle-y bits.

WELCOME TO DEFIANCE pt.2
Interesting, hopefully Steve isn’t flakebailing so this thing can be played out.

NEGOTIATION… DEFIANCE STYLE
Sethrow and I done did tag teamed this here bitch.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS
SO MANY HURTS! And then White being a bastard and a half, fucking fucker, hah.

MATCH - MUSHI v FRANK
Oh sheezay, here we go. Frank is a goddamn wild card and that is so awesome. Looking forward to what happens at the PPV between these two.

WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE
Damien holding up his end as he always does. Really good points made by Euge, allowing him to continue asserting his rightfully earned place within DEFIANCE… The Dane appearance works and… Nope, can’t, will end up driving through spoilerville.

BEASTS UNLEASHED
The only addition this bit needed was some call back to the White/Frank dealings in the past, it’s not a big deal that it wasn’t included, just a small nitpick. Otherwise, I think I might really like the idea of there being 2-½-3 bosses (Dane, White, Kelly). Could make for some interesting situations where Dane and White use people against to continue screwing with each other.

THIS ONES FOR THE RIPPER
Dayumn, Troy going for the throat on Jane. The promo itself was a good reasoning for Troy and his cutting on Jane did a good job of setting her up to make the match at the blow off. Nicely done, Rob, well done indeed.

MATCH - ROMERO v PETE
NOOOO! NOT PETE! YOU DIRTY, MEXICAN BASTARD! hah. Straight dick kicked that mug, hard. Romero gets off the schnide like a boss here, even if it wasn’t a win, just… dayumn.

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE
Straight forward, come and get it if you want style promo from Romero, good stuff. Love how he just dismisses Whealdon as a nobody that is not even worth getting a win over, very bastard-y, I dig it.

SHIT TALKING AND FUCKERY
Seriously, the top of the Trios division is golden right now. HOSS, BDH and LBC, and they all have vicious circle of issues connecting each other? Perfection… OH and this interaction, aces folks. I almost confused Alecz for Ty with the way he was talking about LT there, hah, all pervy and determined. Fun.

MATCH - BDH v LBC
You know what I’m liking about this show thus far? A lot of the matches don’t go long, because they don’t need to. This, Romero/Pete, Heidi/Don, Mushi/Frank, all of them get discombobulated quickly (this and Mushi/Frank) or are quick and vicious setups (Romero/Pete and Heidi/Don). And this is the first time we’ve seen the Heroes get their asses beat like this, which is a good thing, even the cocky/witty/tough babyfaces need to be put down by the heels every so often. Tony v Wade could be some seriously crazy brawling, looking forward to that.

SPEAKING FOR HERSELF
Good setup for their match at the blow off, hope Lee is still up for writing it.

MATCH - SCOTT v RYAN
Jeff, Justin, and I wrote this with assists from Brunk and Lindz.

THE DEFFIES (OF THE NIGHT AWARDS)!
* MATCH

Main Event, hands down.
* HERO
Dane, Dusty or the Knights in general (in that order).
* HEEL
Dan Ryan being a brutal son of a bitch, White being the Bo$$.
* SEGMENT
Holiday/Pyre for the big lulz it gave me, same with Troy’s cutting on Jane..
* MOMENT
Has to be Dane’s show closing speech.
* ETC, ETC, ETC
Go TEAMWORK. Tons of working together behind the scenes to make this the best it could be.

Just finished up the read. From a newcomer's prospective, that was a fuck of a card. Main event was the high spot but I also enjoyed the Romero/Pete "match" and the aftermath of such. Looking forward to getting to know the characters more as the weeks go on for sure.

So.

No feedback.

No newsposts from anyone who isn't either staff or might as well be staff.

I guess you guys don't have any comments on the show?

I guess there's no fallout that needs selling, or, I dunno, no PPV that needs hyping?

We can hold production. We don't have to, because as a staff we're ready to go. But, we can hold it until more of the roster decide to participate. I don't ask much, the above post by fartknocker (what the actual fuck is your real name?) is feedback. Shit, I don't need essays from you people, just thoughts!

Just something, to let us know you're out there enjoying DEF. Or you're hating it and we need to fix things.

With as much feedback as we have currently, I assume nobody read the show except the staff and the new guy, or, the show sucked so hard that nobody can even be bothered with trying to explain to me how and why.

Somebody, anybody, can I get an Amen?

Pictures of sad dogs make me catch ALL THE FEELS. STAHHHHHHP!

I've been jotting down notes over the past few days, so here we go with some feedback.

As Jeff said earlier, this was a rather large show and it had a lot of moving parts. It was a real nice set-up for the Grindhouse: America PPV so kudos to everyone involved.

I liked all the Dane/Kelly/White stuff on the card. Moreso than in any other instance since I joined DEF, I felt like I really "got" the importance and magnitude of Dane as a character and his role as DA BAWS in the company. He was here and there during the Canada tour with Kelly taking point as the decision-maker, and he did exert authority as it concerned the World Title during the "Homecoming" arc, but the stuff here was all-encompassing for me. I hope the other newcomers feel the same. As with any new person who joins an established fed, there's history and lore and relationship points to remember and navigate. The segs and interactions here helped with that.

Thanks to Ken and Brian for letting me piggy-back off the Holiday/Pyre on-card and Twitter stuff with the #STALKTONPYRE shirts. I don't want to bully my way into your plans but Ken came up with the hashtag in the first place and I couldn't not do something snarky and needling with it. Those two characters play so well off each other. Can't wait to see what happens down the road.

TANGENT: I'm still trying to get a handle on the concept of in-character Twitter accounts. It's weird, right? Like, I'm sure nobody gives a shit if Troy goes to the gym, or if Rayne gets an advanced copy of GotG before it hits theaters [which he would, because CONNECTIONS, and NERD], or if Wade gets a flat tire on the way to the arena. That's sorta the point of social media anyway, I get it - and I post some nonsense on my non-efed Twitter account, but to do it for a bunch of fake people is what makes it strange for me. I dunno. Maybe I'm in the minority here. Maybe I should just have Troy keep ranting about 2048 or how the barista at Starbucks didn't make a foam design in her latte (God bless you, Weird Al).

Speaking of 2048: I HOPE YOU ALL FEEL MY PAIN (and eff you for your HUMBLEBRAG, James. Whatever. Barry Horowitz pat-on-the-back for you. *grumble*). I think maybe our Cold Open seg ran a little too long to get to the point now that I've re-read it, but it was fun to write nonetheless.

Solid Tnasa stuff, Murray. Looking forward to seeing how much of a "face" you can make the guy who's got a rep for punching faces 'til they're pulp. And I'm gonna keep seeing how many dumb jumbled-up versions of Natas I can come up with. Also looking forward to the impending VIAGRA and Whitewood debuts. How many more PTC guys can I pull out of the shadows? When will it end?

The Donovan/Turner match was good. Chris, where you been dude? STJ's been quiet the last couple shows. I'm looking forward to the Donovan/Penn blow-off. Another case of two characters who play well off each other. And Penn's such a smarmy shitheel. Everyone in New Orleans should be CLAMORING for him to lose and lose big.

Damien's so good, you guys. I know this isn't news to anyone. All the LBC and Eugene things were perfect. And James, yes, the good guys can't win every battle every time. Otherwise, snore. We've got some good stuff planned so stay tuned.

Shades of an alliance/trios team coming together with Walker/T. Matthews/Jake Donovan? I'm here for it. MORE TRIOS TEAMS, PLEASE. Don't want Seth getting bored up there at the top of the mountain now. The Walker/HOSS stuff was excellent per usual. And thanks to Seth for indulging my nonsense with the Alecz/LT 90s hip-hop throwback seg idea. What can we do next?

Kudos to JP for doing some last-minute things on the card to keep his angle moving along. You're right in thinking maybe it could've used some more commentary but you got it on the card regardless. I've said it before: we all go back and read the things we write and realize "maybe I should've done X thing instead of what I actually wrote." That's the nature of the beast.

I do want to say one thing about the OSC vs. Serpenti/Zongetsu/Star stuff that I don't want to get lost in the feedback or in people's minds: I know Steve's MIA right now, but we need to remember that he picked up the ball and ran with it the best he could while JP was sick. Their angle got thrown for a loop with things that came up and it's frustrating/disappointing for more than a couple people that the feud hasn't gone according to plan. I get it. You can ask Murray and Asa and Ford and whoever else was in PRIME while I was a staff member or even running the place for a time how I felt about flaking and people bailing or disappearing and then rejoining another fed or whatever. I look back now and know there were times when my annoyance and anger were appropriate and there were times when it wasn't. From my POV today, I'm trying to keep things in perspective but I do recognize that we need to move forward at some point. I hope everything's alright with the guy, regardless.

Pour one out for the ACX. I'm going to miss the three of them interacting together as a team but I know Justin's weary of writing three characters when only one of them is his. Maybe Evan will come back and the SLEEZY THREE can reunite down the road, even if someone else has to write Whealdon or the writing duties for the character are shared. I'm really amped for the Antiguas/Mahogany grudge match. Antiguas finally looks like the guy you don't want to fuck with after weeks of him saying "you don't want any part of the Martinete." Keep the foot on the gas, Sean.

Mushi/Frank was exactly what it needed to be going into the PPV. I'm sure Justin and Rob will come up with more HAWS FITE goodness for the next show.

Along the same vein, the Matthews/Jane + Nicky stuff was what it needed to be, too. Didn't drag on, set things up well, and I'm glad Matthews has something to "fight for" here (standing up for Cassidy who can't stand up for himself 'cuz fired). The Terry Woods reference was lost on me but I imagine this happened before my time.

Ken made a comment in the DEF chat about how St. Sure's mic spot made him really appreciated her as a character and I'll agree with him here (just don't get used to it, Canuck). She knows exactly the right button to push to send Booya into a fit, which is exactly the intention, and it's done very even-keel to the point where you have to start thinking "when's she gonna flip the switch and turn into the Terminator?" The only thing I would've liked to have seen is more of a flip-out by Booya after CSS hit the Booya Bomb on Jane.

The main was nuts. Well-written and everyone looks solid going into the PPV. I didn't do much except help with the HTML-ing. I did tell Brunk I wanted Dan Ryan to yell "WAR EAGLE~!" in the face of the Roll Tide Bro he took the chair from for MEGA SEC HEAT. Alas, it was not meant to be. But that's OK. Ryan's heel heat's not in question at all. Good clusterfuck to end it all, too.

Also....

the above post by fartknocker (what the actual fuck is your real name?)

Jake is his name. Inappropriate forum names are his game.

Just an FYI to everyone. The next deadline is going to begin soon and there is only a few people who bothered to write feedback or comment on the show at all.

This is not cool at all.

Meeting New People
NEVER put a link to a game in a segment. I wasted a fucking hour playing that stupid game. Fortunately I’ve managed to get to 4096 on my iPad before, so I could tell myself “No, stop it.”

Other than that this felt like an excuse for the Big Damn heroes to be themselves for a little bit. Not complaining, but they do tend to get off on a tangent, which happened twice I think during the course of one conversation.

I want to know where the STJ/Troy stuff is going, because that could be interesting down the road. I just hope something meaningful comes out of it.

The BAWS returns
What would be awesome is if there were Diamond security personnel all over the show from now on. Maybe even replace DEFsec with them. There’s no way this should be a one off thing.

The Rundown
And the show was rundown. A little different this week, what with specific people being mentioned more than matches, but it worked. I think a mixture of the two might be a way to go in the future. Have the big matches mentioned, possibly with an image (JP?), and run through other parts with names only.

Jason Natas vs.

I thought the Handsome Man Modelling Club were removed from the roster due to them being too close in gimmick to the ACX?

Maybe we should have the NPCs actually listed on the site so that we can avoid any confusion, both for us oldies and the newcomers.

Fully agreed with James. The little touch of having Natas hit the knee to an already downed opponent was nice. A decent in ring debut, and hopefully we’ll get a feel for the character a little more somewhere else on the show, if not further down the line.

Shots Fired
Well that didn’t take long.

I’ll wait to pass judgement on Natas after this segment. I’m not a huge fan of the anti-hero face, purely because it’s done so frequently. It works when you have someone or something to rebel against, but just having someone who’s “such a badass people cheer for him” can get real old real quick.

Like I said, I’ll wait to form an opinion on Natas for now, because this gimmick can work if done correctly, which it can be, but it’s not my favorite gimmick when it comes to week one.

Loyalty
OK, this could be better than having DEFsec replaced. This is the sort of angle that leads to one of those novelty matches where Wyatt Bronson faces Agent Bryce for the right to provide security to DEFIANCE.

Which I don’t think we’ve ever done here before.

At least not since I’ve been around.

In between bit random thoughts
I get the commercial thing, I really do, but I’d rather see a backstage segment between the two than filler.

Sam Turner Jr. vs. Jake Donovan
I really want to see Sam’s entrance in his bio updated. The ‘conversation’ between Angus and Keebler during it is so wooden and so generic. I’d rather just see it replaced with “commentary prompt” than what’s there.

LBC Interview
Mine. Unimaginitive title is unimaginitive. Sorry about that.

You Know How It Is
If this goes somewhere it could be interesting. Of course I can also see it just being a launching pad to get Matthews and Donovan going at it, which would also be cool.

Welcome To DEFIANCE pt. 1
Not much to comment on here other than continuity is a good thing.

Curtis Clutch Challenge #4
These have been fantastic all arc long, and it’s a testament to the fact that you don’t need to have a match to get yourself over. Great work.

Kleptomaniac
Ken and Brian have really been clicking this arc, and it’s showing in all of their work. It’s great to see a continuation of how Kelly was used on the previous show as well.

Heidi Christenson vs. Don Hollywood
This didn’t need to be more than it was. Heidi snaps Don’s arm because of the groping. It was ALWAYS gonna go that way.

Welcome To DEFIANCE Pt 2.
I don’t feel the need for the closed captioning. It explains things, sure, but it’s not entirely needed. I think I’d have gotten what they were saying without.

Negotiation: DEFIANCE Style
So far the “I’m going to stop digging myself into a racist hole” line is the best of the night.

There’s a lot of stipulations going into the PPV match, but they work together, yet I think it’s worth mentioning that I’ve realised while planning the next arc that it’s easy to over book something that could be done very simply, and while it might make sense to the booker it could be viewed as convoluted and unnecessarily complex to the outside.

Decisions, Decisions
Iris doesn’t make it onto enough shows.

Aww man, bye bye Don… Hopefully that won’t be the beginning of the end for the sleaziest trio in wrestling…

Musigihara vs. Frank Dylan James
Personally I’d have had Mushi do the attack from behind, what with Frank being the face and all, or I’d have had them brawl to the outside straight after the bell. Not much else to say about this one.

When Push Comes To Shove
Mine, although I didn’t know about the Dane part at the end. Not gonna complain, because that was good, but I get where that’s going, and that sucks for a multitude of reasons.

Beasts Unleashed
Maybe PPV matches should just come with the no DQ rule already implemented unless otherwise stated?

This One’s For The Ripper
This was kind of out of left field, what with the partnership/friendship between Cassidy and Matthews not being mentioned in forever, but it still made sense. Troy’s gonna have a lot to answer for, but something tells me he might just have some back up soon enough.

Pete Whealdon vs. Romero Antiguas
Poor Pete…

James is right, the matches have been interesting on this one purely because they haven’t run long. Maybe this is what we should be aiming for. Maybe not every week, and definitely not every match, but a higher percentage than we’re on now.

Or matches against NPCs… just sayin’...

With Friends Like These
I really hope that Romero picks up a win soon, and I’m sure he will in the inevitable match with Rich Mahogany, but damned if this guy hasn’t gotten over while racking up the losses. Seriously. I want him to get his ass kicked after this week more than I ever have done before, but now that it looks like that’s not gonna happen… well… I dunno what to think.

Shit Talking And Fuckery
The eventual feud between HOSS and BDH will be legen… wait for it… dary.

BDH vs. LBC
Mine.

Speaking For Herself
I literally don’t know how this one will go. On the one hand you’ve got Jonny Booya who is white hot right now, and on the other you’ve got CSS, who has taken a back seat for a long time to many other characters. The match has been set up well though, and whoever walks out the winner will be getting a big rub.

Dan Ryan vs. Kai Scott
That match was fantastic. Anyone that wants to know how to write Angus, read that match.

The post match was where everything happened though. I can picture the bodies everywhere, be they DPS, DEFsec, wrestlers, referees, champions, challengers, whatever… just absolute carnage, and that’s the kind of thing that would send the fans into a wild frenzy.

What’s more, that’s the kind of lead in you want to a PPV, because this wasn’t just another show, this was the penultimate stop on a tour that’s circled the globe, and bahgawd did that ending feel like it.

MEETING NEW PEOPLE

Big Damn Heroes, Dusty Griffith and Frank Dylan James having a nice sociable moment. I like these kinds of segments. Only gripe I have -- and it's really minor -- is the use of the five-second countdown up top. I get using the countdown if you're going to start the show in the ring with pyro and pomp and spectacle, because it's dramatic and exciting. But if the first segment is backstage with everyone sitting around, the countdown doesn't make a lot of sense.

THE BAWS RETURNS

Oh man, it's real now. Dane will NOT be barred from his own promotion. Does Kelly Evans have a history of pulling a shiv on folks, or is this something new? I've been around DEFIANCE for about a year now and I've never seen her this stabby before. Desperate measures, though, I guess.

THE RUNDOWN

Darren and Angus's reactions coming out of the previous segment were perfect. Great continuity.

JASON NATAS VS. ???

Good showcase match for the newcomer, very well written. The Handsome Man Modeling School make for some pretty entertaining jobbers.

SHOTS FIRED

And a well done Lance Warner interview to allow Natas to give his mission statement as a new member of the DEFIANCE roster. It seems he's making a transition to asshole-stomping babyface after formerly being a heel in PRIME, so it'll be interesting to see how he fits into the already chaotic social dynamics of DEFIANCE.

LOYALTY

Crazy intense standoff between Eric Dane and Edward White! Here's what I like about this: we get some details about the business deal they struck, and we get the consequences of White breaking his "silent partner" agreement. I like that a portion of DEFsec is motivated enough by their loyalty to Dane to stand with him against the others. I ALSO like the fact that, although Dane used his lawyers to deal a blow to White's claim to power, it's clear that we're not seeing that power completely dismantled in one shot. I'm really interested to see how this develops going forward. An angle like this needs to play out at a slow burn, and White needs to continue to be a legitimate threat for some time.

Oh, and I see now why there was a call for someone to write some commercials, since there was kind of an abrupt jump from the in-ring standoff to a match. The problem could've been avoided by formatting the segments in a slightly different order, or at least by not teasing the match BEFORE the in-ring and then trying to go right back to it afterward. It is what it is, though.

SAM TURNER JR. VS. JAKE DONOVAN

Decent match showcasing this obvious clash of styles, with flippy doo taking the fall! :)

LBC INTERVIEW

The Legitimate Businessmen's Club are one of my favorite groups in DEFIANCE. Challenge issued! Nice to see this feud with the BDH continue to boil right up to the PPV.

YOU KNOW HOW IT IS...

Ty! Jake! Troy! Saori! ASSEMBLE! Folks be forming teams all over the place!

WELCOME TO DEFIANCE! PART 1

A Japanese man is forced to show papers to White men before he can go about his business. That's racist, bro.

CURTIS CLUTCH CHALLENGE #4

Penn has been so damned entertaining this arc, much like he was as the SoHer Champion. Jake Donovan interrupts again, and we finally get the match booked for the PPV. Can't wait to see this battle ensue!

KLEPTOMANIAC

Brian and I wrote this. I'm happy people like Frank Holiday and Billy Pepper's shenanigans, but Brian deserves recognition as well for how he's been playing Pyre off of Holiday's nuttiness, and the Kelly Evans dialogue was all him. It's been really rewarding so far to work on this together. Also, shout out to Lindz for the T-shirt idea. I can't take credit for #STALKTONPYRE though; I think that name originated in someone's feedback a while ago. So good for whoever that was. :)

DON HOLLYWOOD VS. HEIDI CHRISTENSON

Jesus. How vicious is this? Am I the only one who would love to see a Mortal Kombat X-ray vision version of the arm-breaking spot? There should've been a deep, echoing voice bellowing "FINISH HIM!" before the armbreaker.

WELCOME TO DEFIANCE! PART 2

I'm still baffled by the relationship between the Osaka Street Cutters and Zongetsu Ryushin, but I'm chalking that up to not knowing the history prior to them being in DEFIANCE (if there was in fact history). If Ryushin is the babyface in this situation, I feel like these characters were introduced in the wrong order, because the first time we saw him was when he launched an attack from the crowd on the OSC -- which makes him the aggressor and the heel by default, all else being equal. Anyway. I'm still watching.

NEGOTIATION... DEFIANCE STYLE.

Junior Keeling is being his usual awesomely dickish self, and Ty Walker's bravado got him into an extremely dangerous situation. Can't wait to see this battle explode on PPV, especially with Team HOSS leaving this segment looking overwhelmingly powerful.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

The ACX are cartoon characters in the best possible way: ridiculous, over-the-top, always entertaining. Don screaming in pain = WIN. Edward White giving them a hard time here = WIN. I don't know where these guys will be in the long term, but I always enjoy them.

MUSHIGIHARA VS. FRANK DYLAN JAMES

Can any ring contain this massive conflict?!

WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE

Very dramatic confrontation between Eugene Dewey and Heidi Christenson, which should make for an exciting match on PPV. Interesting comment by Heidi about DEFIANCE's "boys club" atmosphere needing to be cleaned up. Is this her new mission statement? Should Angus Skaaland, at this very moment, be hiding his sexist, homophobic, not to mention racist and bigoted, self in a deep, dark hole so she can't get her hands on him?

Also, Eric Dane and Kelly Evans show up again and threaten to cut a bitch. The knife thing feels uncomfortably violent to me. I wouldn't like to see this kind of thing escalate, because if you take a "real weapons" arms race to its logical conclusion, somebody's going to start pointing guns around.

BEASTS UNLEASHED

Finally -- we got our PPV battle of the bulge! Mushi vs. FDJ isn't going to be pretty, but it should generate readings at the U.S. Geological Survey.

THIS ONE'S FOR THE RIPPER

Troy Matthews and Jane Katze in an effective segment setting up their PPV match. I also didn't get the Terry Woods reference, not that that fact necessarily diminishes the impact of what Troy said for those who do know. But I think it highlights the downfall of calling back to ancient history, especially with so many new handlers making up the current DEFIANCE roster. If people don't get it, then what was the point? Sometimes a reference is TOO inside, you know?

PETE WHEALDON VS. ROMERO ANTIGUAS

After all those weeks of underwhelming performances and losses, Antiguas finally has enough and shows everyone the vicious person he really is. This is a wonderful example of how a character can get over in a big way without needing to rack up countless wins week after week.

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE...

And then he uses the interview with Christie Zane to rub it in. What a dick! Nice work here.

SHIT-TALKING AND FUCKERY

Well, there goes our PG rating! And by the way, where did everyone suddenly get the balls to openly flirt with Lindsay Troy? Did they all figure if STJ can do it and get away with it, then it's game on? Either way, I kind of like the BDH and Team HOSS verbally dusting it up at Gorilla just before the Heroes head out to the ring. There are so many exciting matches down the road involving the whole Trios division.

BIG DAMN HEROES VS. LEGITIMATE BUSINESSMEN'S CLUB

A beatdown by the LBC instead of a full-fledged match was the right way to go here. SoHer Champ Tony Di Luca and the others look strong going into the PPV, while the Heroes now find themselves in the defensive position. Great use of this booking.

SPEAKING FOR HERSELF

As Lindz said, I mentioned in a DEFIANCE chat a few days ago that this segment, for me, was the first time I came to appreciate Claira St. Sure as a character. Up to now, I've only seen her as a mostly silent member of a collective and her personality and motivations were a cipher to me. That all changed here through her interaction with Jonny Booya, taking his own words and turning them against him, pushing all his buttons. Loved this segment, and in one stroke made me excited for a CSS/Booya match. Well done.

KAI SCOTT VS. DAN RYAN

Fantastic main event, period. I just want to say that the match writing in DEFIANCE is absolutely amazing pretty much every time out. Kai Scott looks world class, Dan Ryan looks like a loose cannon, poor Benny Doyle pays for trying to enforce the rules, and Dusty Griffith again puts his history with Scott aside to make the save.

And then all hell breaks loose.

You guys are killing it with this whole angle so far. I really can't say more except that the World Title match is going to be tremendous, and really, the whole PPV has got me psyched.
