Two additional questions:

1) When you do visit the main page, what info do you look at most? News? Events? Feds?

2) If you don't use the main page often, anything come to mind that would cause you to go there more frequently?

I scan a little bit of everything when I browse (though that's pretty infrequently). I would be more inclined to browse if things were updated more often. I know some stuff is, but just just off the top of my head I can say that the FW.com rankings for 2007 are being spotlighted, most of the league rankings are at least a couple months old (I know this falls more on the fed heads, but still) and the latest event being displayed in, well... Latest Events is from February. That's basically what it boils down to for me. If the stuff I check out is updated once a month, I don't have alot of reason to go to the main page more than once a month. But like I said, with more updated content, I'd be there much more often.

Absolutely agree with the comment around updates, and especially around the rankings. I'm open to suggestions -- I've tried to get 'staff' set up that would take over certain areas so that it wouldn't be too overwhelming. Unfortunately that hasn't worked in the past. I'm definitely willing to try it again if folks are interested.

The simple fact is that if Chad and I had the time to update fWrestling.com ourselves in that regard, we'd be updating CSWA and NFW's websites first. hehe

For that type of stuff, we need dedicated help from handlers or other fedheads.

As for the events, EPW and TEAM's events have only gone up when I've posted them for the most part. If they don't care, I'm not going to care. That's not a knock on anyone or anything, but I don't have the time to do that for any feds.

The site will always be what everyone here puts into it, so I guess that's a testament to what this community is about for better or worse.

Funny thing is, I actually visit the main page every day when I check the forums, because I'm too lazy to bookmark FW Central itself. I always link myself from the main page. Like everyone's been saying, it just needs the updates. I'd like to see more people do blogs with their FW characters, too. I was actually thinking of doing that myself, but I'm not sure who I'd use.

As for the events, EPW and TEAM's events have only gone up when I've posted them for the most part. If they don't care, I'm not going to care. That's not a knock on anyone or anything, but I don't have the time to do that for any feds.

My first thought when I read this was when Ricky Bobby said in Talladega nights that he could say what he wanted as long as he said "with all due respect".

I deleted an entire paragraph here, just because I think I should maybe not say what I was about to say publically. Still, based on how I took that, maybe rephrase your statement, because it seems to me as though you're expressing an annoyance with having to come to the rescue of an uncaring fed head who just won't ever post anything. One of the nicer things I said though was this: I really never asked you to. I never said, hey Katz - do a feature on EPW, would ya? I thought you did it because you were interested in what was going on, not because you felt you needed to fill some vacuum I was causing. If that's not what you meant, maybe you should rephrase it. If it WAS what you meant? Well, we'll see.

I'm quite content with the state of things, for my part. I've never counted on the main site as tool for anything other than supplemental entertainment. Making it something grander may be something you and Chad would like to do, but if so then the big plans you have/had haven't materialized. As it is, it's a tool for fed heads to glorify themselves if they so choose. And I rarely see that as a priority.

If you want something like what seems to be expected here, you collect a small group of committed people to keep the site updated and do news stories, features, etc. But expecting e-fedders, knowing them for years and years as we do, to consistently...as a large group, update news, etc. I think is particularly naive. Once I knew it was up to individual fed heads, etc. to do their fed news and so forth I knew it was bound to end up the way it has - with little to no activity on that front. Only feds who feel they need to get their name out there will bother, because they want exposure and that's a good tool to use to get it.

Other things like overall community rankings simply haven't been touched for months. It was set up to have a committee of people vote on circuit-wide rankings, and we did it exactly once. Never again was a ballot sent out or nominations even discussed after that one time.

Having said that, I do go to the site quite often - mostly for the blog feeds and for the blurbs on the front page. I also glance at rankings posted for other feds, just to keep an eye on what's going on in places that interest me.

Voting on shows seems to be a waste of time based on the lack of public accountability for votes. Obviously, it's well know who has voted what - but there's no fear of anyone finding out unless we just start making name lists, so it's become an exercise in vote stacking.

Dude. It wasn't meant as an attack or anything. You read into the statement more than you needed to.

I'm perfectly fine with the fact you didn't care about using the site, which is why I eventually stopped caring about making sure I got EPW/TEAM events posted. Was I being blunt about it? Sure. Am I feeling malicious or pissed about it? No. Do I have the time to cover each fed? No.

I gave up on making the site 'grand' or the 'apex' of anything out there because like you, I realized that our community...doesn't care about those things. Again, it wasn't a knock on anyone like I said, it's just the truth about how we all want to spend our time.

I use the site to post NFW stuff and sometimes, when I have the time I'll do more. I visit it alot to make sure nothing's broken in terms of coding as well.

I just posted the poll as a point of curiosity. Nothing more, nothing less.

Jon, people don't usually use terms like "am I being blunt?" about things not intended as a shot. If it wasn't intended as a shot, you wouldn't "be blunt."

Again, I'll say again. And maybe this is blunt, but I want it understood. It's a project you undertook, not one I asked you to undertake, to post my events and news. And finally, I'll also say again - unless this is in the part I deleted, since I'm too busy to look - if the implied bitterness over 'having' to do this for me apparent in your words isn't intended, perhaps you should rephrase it.

But I won't make it any bigger than it already is. No worries.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude.

Seriously, I'm not bitter about anything. I'm not taking shots at you or anybody. If I were bitter or mad about it, I would've PM'd you AGES ago and complained to you about not using the site.

Being blunt just meant I was stating something matter-of-factly...and I said that in recognition that my words typed on a screen you're reading were interpreted differently than I intended. If we were face-to-face, I'd say the same thing, but I'm pretty sure my voice and facial expression would at least convey the total lack of bitterness I have about this. I'm pretty sure my attitude over the last however many years we've known each other would hold some water in that regard.

If someone doesn't care about using the site, I'm perfectly cool with it. But its also going to mean that I'm not going to care about getting their stuff on the site. I don't see how that's a shot...

Should I care? I mean, I think I'd be a little weird if I really did.

Nobody asked for the site. Nobody asked for me to post stuff. These are things that Chad and I did for fun, while we had the time to do so. Sure, we had hopes of everyone using it to its potential. But it didn't happen and that's fine. It's not like I've been harboring bitterness for two years over something like this. That'd be insane.

ANYWAY, we can take this to PM's from this point if you still don't believe me.
