As for the events, EPW and TEAM's events have only gone up when I've posted them for the most part. If they don't care, I'm not going to care. That's not a knock on anyone or anything, but I don't have the time to do that for any feds.
My first thought when I read this was when Ricky Bobby said in Talladega nights that he could say what he wanted as long as he said "with all due respect".
I deleted an entire paragraph here, just because I think I should maybe not say what I was about to say publically. Still, based on how I took that, maybe rephrase your statement, because it seems to me as though you're expressing an annoyance with having to come to the rescue of an uncaring fed head who just won't ever post anything. One of the nicer things I said though was this: I really never asked you to. I never said, hey Katz - do a feature on EPW, would ya? I thought you did it because you were interested in what was going on, not because you felt you needed to fill some vacuum I was causing. If that's not what you meant, maybe you should rephrase it. If it WAS what you meant? Well, we'll see.
I'm quite content with the state of things, for my part. I've never counted on the main site as tool for anything other than supplemental entertainment. Making it something grander may be something you and Chad would like to do, but if so then the big plans you have/had haven't materialized. As it is, it's a tool for fed heads to glorify themselves if they so choose. And I rarely see that as a priority.
If you want something like what seems to be expected here, you collect a small group of committed people to keep the site updated and do news stories, features, etc. But expecting e-fedders, knowing them for years and years as we do, to consistently...as a large group, update news, etc. I think is particularly naive. Once I knew it was up to individual fed heads, etc. to do their fed news and so forth I knew it was bound to end up the way it has - with little to no activity on that front. Only feds who feel they need to get their name out there will bother, because they want exposure and that's a good tool to use to get it.
Other things like overall community rankings simply haven't been touched for months. It was set up to have a committee of people vote on circuit-wide rankings, and we did it exactly once. Never again was a ballot sent out or nominations even discussed after that one time.
Having said that, I do go to the site quite often - mostly for the blog feeds and for the blurbs on the front page. I also glance at rankings posted for other feds, just to keep an eye on what's going on in places that interest me.
Voting on shows seems to be a waste of time based on the lack of public accountability for votes. Obviously, it's well know who has voted what - but there's no fear of anyone finding out unless we just start making name lists, so it's become an exercise in vote stacking.
