...um.
Hey, everybody who's still left out there in IWF Land. My name is the Wizard of Strawsma, and it looks like I'm being given the keys to the castle. I wanted to start this thread as a way of letting everyone know what to expect in the coming days, and to give everyone a voice on the direction we go in following this changing of the guard.
First of all, I'm presuming that Chain Reaction 11 will be posted in the coming days. Not sure just yet WHO will be posting it once it's done, but once Wade gets back to me, we can figure things out, and hopefully put out a decent ETA.
Once it's posted, I'll give everybody a few days to let it all sink in... and as of that point, given the lay-over of about a third of a year, we're just going to leave that to serve as the final show of "IWF Season One"... which is to say, anything that took place in 2012.
This brings us to the present... and with the coming of the new year comes the new season. "IWF Season 2", as I'm calling it. The goal is to more or less continue what Wade was building up to... which was the idea of a state-wide tour building up to a Washington State Title, something that symbolizes the federation expanding its borders beyond just the city of Seattle where it's based out of.
So, here's just a few things I've been coming up with...
IWF and it's talented roster of athletes will embark on an eight-show tour throughout the state of Washington. Every event will have it's own title and theme -- the episodic nature of Chain Reaction will be something unique to the last season.
The state of the IWF front office has seen changes in recent months. CEO Kendall Cho has divided his investment among a board of anonymous shareholders -- Nathan Fear, owning his 49% due to being a co-founder, serves as the acting Commissioner.
To herald the beginning of a new era, the following changes will made. Firstly, the title of the federation will be rebranded as "Immortal Wrestling Federation"...
...cause, not to knock the "International" tag, but does anybody think that it really applies to a regional federation?
So I spent an entire day trying to think up awesome words that started with the letter "I". Christ on sale, that's a nightmare, let me tell you.
"Ignition? Intense? Invigorating? Immersive? SHIT!!"
But then I hit on Immortal, and thought it would be a good selling point: "Great wrestlers come and go... but IMMORTALS never die". Or, maybe that sounds dumb... I could use some feedback on that.
Second major change I was going to have implemented was the introduction of additional titles. No, not the Washington State title... I still think that's something that should come at the conclusion of the tour. And I didn't want the existing Emerald City title to become immediately irrelevant.
My idea on this was to add a new belt that would be considered lower tier -- at this point, I'm leaning on the name Mount Rainier Championship, which would be awarded to the victor of a multiple-entrant "King of the Mountain" match in the season premiere. It might come with some special stipulation, like anyone may challenge for it at any show, and the champion must defend against all comers in a single match. Or maybe it's always defended in a Champion Scramble match, owing to the "King of the Mountain" theme.
I've also got ideas for a third title, but... I'm not sure how much I want to talk about that at this point. But when all three belts are in the works during the last leg of the tour, everything would culminate into the blow-off major event held at the Key Arena in Seattle, which at this point is being called "The Emerald City Experience 2013". I'd like the main event to be some sort of triple-threat header with all three reigning champions involved, with the winner unifying the titles into a distinct Washington State Championship.
So Season 2 concludes with IWF seeding itself beyond Seattle and across the state. Then we get to Season 3, the tour expands to neighboring regions (Idaho, Oregon, British Columbia)... and pretty soon, IWF is spanning across the Pacific Northwest... and hopefully, you get where I'm going with that.
Here's a tentative working schedule that I've come up with at this point:
201 - King of the Mountain
Location: Tacoma, WA
Venue: Tacoma Dome
Notes: Emerald City Championship will be defended, and the first Mount Rainier Champion will be declared in the "King of the Mountain" main event match.
202 - TBA
Location: Yakima, WA
Venue: Yakima Sundome
203 - TBA
Location: Kennewick, WA
Venue: Toyota Center
204 - Surge II
Location: Spokane, WA
Venue: Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena
Notes: First of two supershows on the tour, both titles will be defended, and the third title will be announced.
205 - TBA
Location: Wenatchee, WA
Venue: Town Toyota Center
Notes: First champion of the unnamed third title will be declared in this event's main event
206 - TBA
Location: Everett, WA
Venue: Comcast Arena
207 - TBA
Location: Kent, WA
Venue: ShoWare Center
208 - Emerald City Experience 2013
Location: Seattle, WA
Venue: Key Arena
Notes: Second of two supershows, which will either get a primetime spot on ESEN or perhaps PPV, depending on interest. All three reigning champions will compete in a triple-threat main event to unify into one title that represents all of the state of Washington.
More will likely be announced around the time Chain Reaction 11 gets dropped. A "formal" in character announcement will be made to fill in more on some of the revisions being made as I get adjusted to getting the federation back on the track.
For the time being... I was kind of hoping for a roll call to see who's still left, or who still may be interested in taking this forward. Also, if you've got ideas, thoughts, concerns, opinions or the like, let this be the forum for everything to be heard and discussed. It's been over ten years since I helped run some little old forgotten e-fed called IWF... so there's a chance I may be rusty.
Except for writing Terry Anderson. That man writes himself.
So, if you're still in, say you're in, and with what character, and give me your thoughts on some of the stuff I'm dropping on you here.
