What do you think? Do you feel excited or let down by the names here? Who will be the biggest successes? How does this roster compare to that for the first tour?
ALBANY, NY - Tim Shipley today released the full details of the touring roster for Just Wrestling's second tour, which kicks off in Albany's own Washington Avenue Armory on Tuesday 21st. At twenty-one names, the roster is larger than that of the Inaugural Tour, and Shipley confirmed that the standard show length will be 75 minutes, a quarter-hour longer than previously.
Of the chosen 21, one-third return from the first tour, including Champion Judas Crippen, marquee name The Illustrious Face-Eater, and rising stars Chris Vallette and Buck Fledger. Myles Jake's return is notable given his ongoing contractual dispute with Ringside Wrestling, the promotion from which Just Wrestling booker Tim Shipley was fired on air only weeks ago. Shipley's re-signing of Jake, who along with Shepherd will enter a championship match with Crippen in the Washington Avenue Armory, is sure to spark further tensions with the struggling national promotion, of which Jake was champion up until his defeat by Mark Knight on a recent TV show.
The new names on the second touring roster are an intriguing balance of big current stars, returnees from periods out of the game, and unknowns. Andy Murray and Jesse Jamester had already been revealed as two of the most notable, but possibly trumping both is the signing of "His Swerviness" Mike Wade, most recently seen in Ringside but best known for his time in AWC where he became the first Grand Slam Champion. Wade left rW around the time of Shipley's firing amid reports of backstage discontent. He had recently offered to help Shipley "get his groove back", and this newfound friendship is surely part of why Wade, one of the most marketable names in pro wrestling, has agreed to jump to a regional promotion.
Other notable debutants on the Just Wrestling roster include ICE, the former Global Wrestling mainstay; Cary Turkington, who counted Paddy O'Shea and Garbage Bag Johnny among his friends in GCW; Fathom, returning after years off the circuit; and Turk, a veritable legend outside the mainstream circles. For a full rundown of the roster for the second tour, please see the appropriate page of this website. Tickets for the tour are on sale now direct from the venues and through various online agencies. Please be advised that there is no guarantee that a particular member of the touring roster will appear at a given show. Tickets start at $10.
