I don't wanna see "boring promo" and its' synonyms (attempted promo, stupid promo, etc) out of anyone. Ever. You all know better.

And while we're at it, be more careful about throwing 'face', 'heel', and other insider terminology around.

You can call it promo if you want, that wasn't the problem. Likewise, I don't want to hear "boring interview", "boring speech", or anything that would translate into OOC as "shitty RP".

Is this directed at me? I intended the phrase "attempt at a promo" to be a completely kayfabe insult in response to what was, in all OOC actuality, a totally great RP. I just didn't think my character had to admit that in the middle of a brewing feud.

Ok. Still not entirely sure I get this, but it won't happen again.

Here, lets contrast and compare.

"You tripped over your own tongue trying to make some point that don't matter, and now you look like a Gorramn mongoloid."

"Your promo sucked."

See the difference? It's just a terminology thing.

Right. That is a clear gigantic difference and probably a bit of an exaggeration, but point taken. But in staying consistent with my character's style... if he thought a promo was weak (or even if he secretly didn't, but just wants to take a stab at his opponent about something), he's gonna say so how he's gonna say so, you know? If saying "promo" is ok and your character is less apt to flowery language and more so to straight shooting, then I don't agree that "your promo sucked" is a problem. But you're the boss and I respect your preference.

I'm just surprised this even came up because my use of the phrase "attempt at a promo" was a very tiny, insignificant part of a much longer sentence making a much more important point. It was written without a second thought and it certainly carried no implications about anything OOC. It was just a casual, in-character way of addressing an opponent's statement. So, like I said, I don't understand why it's a public cease and desist worthy issue, but it won't happen again.

Lol. Well, that seems creatively worded enough to me.

Have you ever once (outside of the nWo breaking kayfabe) heard the word promo out of a wrestlers mouth in WWF/WCW/TNA/ECW/WWE/NWA/Indy/International/Interstellar on a TV show?

No.

That's why it was brought up. Flowery wording or not, "cutting a promo" is what Michael Hickenbottom (the handler) is doing while Shawn Michaels (the character) is in the ring talking about loving cocks and whatnot.

It's the terminology and the fact that every efed ever has had the rule "don't break kayfabe" and it's just kind of goddamned fucking annoying to see people talking about eachothers fucking promos in their fucking promos.

Jesus.

This is why we're going angle.

Ok, thank you for clarifying. I just really wasn't sure what the issue was after this.

You can call it promo if you want, that wasn't the problem. Likewise, I don't want to hear "boring interview", "boring speech", or anything that would translate into OOC as "shitty RP".

So just to be straight - "promo" actually IS the issue, don't call it that, and even when you're referencing it with a synonym like "interview", don't insult it.

Like Troy, I thought promo was a common term for some reason. I guess all the years of reading insider posts online gradually jumbled with all the wrestling that I actually watched and sometimes I forget what belongs to which world. Fair enough guys, point taken.

Haha no worries, I feel you dude. Stressful, painful week.

I was pretty proud of myself for getting anything up on the boards at all over the last few days, so getting a public spanking for my efforts was just kind of a bummer. And then I was confused as to why I was being spanked (story of my life, heyooo). But it's all good :)
