This won’t be your typical mom and pop league blatantly ripping off ECW of yore (slogan notwithstanding), or WWE of new, or NWA of the 80s, but a fresh new mix of all, centered around the self-contained universe of craziness that is Las Vegas.
Wondering what this is all about? Well wonder no more. Read the bullet points below!
- The (RP-based) league will be run by two figureheads - Mike Stanton, known on these boards for his copious amount of RPing, and former VP and prez of leagues back in the old P* days, and Paul Kobylarz aka The Artist Long Ago Known as Ybok, who is returning to the game after years on the sidelines. Paul interned his way on the other side of the glass (writing and booking) under the tutelage of Jamar Nicholas, earning his chops before tag-teaming with Stanton to run a league back on P* before the whole system shut down permanently. The two, now both living in Las Vegas, are back together to bring the Internet the best FW league ever based in the Land of Sin.
- As the league name says, this entire ballyhoo will be brought to you strictly from the LV. We are encouraging, nay, pretty much demanding that anyone wishing to join the league expand on their imagination chops and bring us the CHARACTERS that will thrive and get over in the home of the most over-used catch-phrase of all-time. This city is plentiful in history, goofiness, myths and debauchery that can be used to flesh out your CHARACTERS and make it a fun time for everyone. Personally we are eventually looking for a mix of 95% new, 5% old, but at the onset we want 100% all new guys, not any of your characters that have made their way through the FW leagues of the ‘Net like a call girl through the whales of Las Vegas. This city is about fresh opportunities and fresh flesh.
- The preliminary plans are to have 1-2 cards where the foundation of the league will be laid before we commence and crown the first-ever LVW World Heavyweight Champion. All that is in the books right now is that the Championship will be determined in a 4-Way Match, One Fall to a Finish. How do we get there? 16-man tournament? 8-man tournament? Battle Royal? Some other method? We will find out together.
- The league will have one other singles title, the Las Vegas Championship, which will have its own unique set of circumstances to be presented around the time our inaugural World Champion is crowned. There are no plans for tag titles unless it is brought up as a plot device point sometime in the future.
- Of course, blood feuds and other sorts of craziness not tied into absolutely having a title (or title shot) will always be welcomed and loved with open arms. The main point is to bring your best to the table and turn your CHARACTER into FW gold.
FINALLY, the most important bullet-point of all, and this one is a must-read as we bring the baboon out of the closet.
- This league will be QUALITY RP and angle based. Ten pages of drooling RP a winner it won’t make you. As has been stressed above, CHARACTERS are a must for Las Vegas. No one lasts in LV without a gimmick, whatever the angle the gimmick comes from.
Stanton and I (This is Paul writing this) are also going to be very upfront with everyone to the fact that there will be situations that arise where things will end up, as we call it in the biz, God-booked. It’s a dirty word, but everyone who isn’t naive knows it’s there. Our policy is that we know, that everyone knows, that a certain thing here or there may and will happen that may end up being beyond the RPer’s control. Rather than sweeping things under the rug and coming up with excuses, we decided from Day 1 that if a situation arises, we will go directly to the people involved in the match and/or angle and tell you, the RPer, what is going down.
Now someone might be thinking “Well if I’m gonna lose anyway why RP?” Well, if you make it look like a battle, it will come out being a battle, and the people who we came and were upfront with, and then put in the time, will earn respect and as they say in this city, “juice”. Juice goes a long way in Las Vegas, and can get you to places farther and higher-up than ever imagined.
Stanton and I are very fair and haven’t been afraid in the past to change things up as necessary, so don’t think the random instance of God-booking means you have no shot and are dead in the water. We once had 3 World Title changes in the span of 5 cards. Anyone can win anything. Again, it comes down to the QUALITY.
