Dan Ryan wins his first CSWA World Heavyweight Championship against Mark Windham, breaking through an almost impossible glass ceiling. Who was he hanging with back then(2003), you ask? Check the segment before.

He could've atleast let a brother get a word in. Or given him Lindsay Troy's current EPW job, with a comfy couch, and a office with a window. ;)

This one's for you Paul, and Pete(if he's ever around to check these boards). Kent and Ed, you too!

Y'all are going to laugh your asses off when you see this. Me? I cringe, and cry. I cringe because it's VERY apparent that y'all didn't like me so much back then, hence the Double Q(XXX rip-off, in a pink jWo shirt), Kendall Codine attack(for the one millionth time), and Eduardo's Nocturnal kicking my character's ass(for the one millionth time).

Add to the fact that my stable turned on me(and this was BEFORE we worked together, planning things like that out so everybody looks good), Eli Flair whipped Sean's - *ahem* - XXXstasy's ass(AGAIN!), I get the feeling after reading these two events that those attacks were probably designed to get XXX out of the game.

And, that's not even why I cry. I cry because all of this happened in '99. Y'know? Back when we thought the world would end in 2000, and we wanted to get a world title reign in before we all died(I know that was *my* motivation). It's now '08, the world didn't end(thank GOD, didn't win my first world title 'til '01), and I realize that in a year, it'll have been a decade of knowing you losers.

We have all come a LONG way.

Enjoy!

WoW that's crazy. I remember all the craziness that we did in the HEW.

Fun Times!!

Amazing to see Nocturnal in like three matches on one card. Ahh those were the days. :)

Well I only go back as far as SCW with you guys. :)

I have tons and tons of GXW material though. One of these days I'll actually get it posted somewhere.

that's awesome. the HEW cards were HORRIBLE, hah!

i recall that Havoc/Eli main event at RevX like it was yesterday! insane! how on earth did you FIND them?

It's crazy, just started googling stuff, and stumbled on a link that said: HaVoC(hah!) vs. "The Legend" Eli Flair.

What's wild is, Eli Flair was considered a 'legend' back in '99. And, yeah... those cards were pretty f'n bad. I never remembered 'em being so horrible.

One of those cards, the one where The Elite turned on Triple XXX(hah!), after Kent had Blade beat the crap out of him, and Nocturnal beat him again, I never told anyone, but I almost quit that day.

But, to my defense, this was back when WE were the characters.

Pretty awesome.

Kinda fond of Windham/Ryan 2, tho. ;)

Number two probably was a better match, but one was more special for me. For those that don't know the story, Dave came to CSWA as a part of an 'Invasion' storyline.

That was ON the surface.

Beneath it, a couple of CSWA people came to me and told me about how the GXW tried to tarnish the CSWA title, by having their champ(Ryan) beat up our champ(Evan Aho) on their show, putting heavy emphasis on his being the CSWA champ(correct me if I'm wrong, Brunk, but was the CSWA title on the show as well?). The people that told me were pissed, and I was told that it was a shoot, and that we(CSWA) were taken advantage of, so I, in turn, became pissed.

So, Dan Ryan comes to the CSWA. And, I take any and every opportunity that I could to talk as much trash as possible, leading to a match and a pretty intense back and forth between Jonathan David and I. The match ended up being a countout win for Trip(hah!) on a house show card, and afterwards, I get an IM from Kent saying that Dan Ryan's handler wanted to chat(or something of that nature).

My first reaction was: "Hell no! He can kiss my ass!", but Kent somehow got me to talk to him, and he ended up not being so bad of a guy. Dave doesn't tell people this very much, but he and I became pretty close, we talked very often, and once the whole Invasion thing simmered, our characters became cool. A card or two before Ryan beat Mark Windham, Stevens had the same shot and didn't get it done. But, Ryan winning the CSWA World, to me, was like Sean winning it, because Dave was my buddy, and he deserved it.

Who knew my computer would go down, and I would come back a year and some change later to him holding every major world title on the planet? ;)

It's posts like Jamar's, which makes me have to remind Brunk that I blew Ryan up in a cage so his EGO doesn't BUST his own brain out of his head.

*rimshot*

I'll be here all week.

LOL...

Jay, did I ever give you FULL rundown of our side of that "shoot" story? And why Merritt didn't flay me alive character-wise for it? Our side of it had a pretty strong case too, which needless to say ended up with both Chad and I understanding the other's side and building a very good relationship out of it.

Of course, no one on the CSWA side knew our side of it - cuz we didn't give a crap. LOL. We were just pissed and wanted to stick it to em however and didn't feel the need to explain it.

Ah, to be young and immature again. :)

Actually, nobody ever told me GXW's side. We've gotta chat. I'd love to hear it. Then again, do I want to know that I could've potentially been wrong the whole time, after YEARS of thinking I was right?

We were young and very immature. But thinking back on it, it was a fun time. I went back and read some of the posts from back then, some of it made me a bit embarrassed(I'm referring to my stuff), some of it made me think, "Damn, how did I come up with that crap at that age, that was awesome", the majority of it got me excited about writing again.

Hence the quick turnaround with my match, poll, and this thread.

Y'know some of us would like to burn 1993 CSWA material that's readily accessible on the web as well. I think we're in line first.

DEEEEEEEEEEEEE DEEEEEEEEEEEEEE TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

...wait...

I *still* do that.

haha! those SCW shows are great! great find, Ed!

there will always be a place in my heart that LOVES the Danny Darwin nonsense that myself, Ryan, and others ran with. anyone remember the drinking contest I wrote? between Danny and Regis Philbin? actually, **** -- it was Summerfest! the card w/ the Cyrus/Max Ring of Fire match. I lost ALL of those matches and angles when my old comp died.

post that link, ed. quite teasin' a brother ;)

and I love that Max/Trip match. may be "too intense" for some. but I loved writing it. that was back when I almost LIKED match-writing. almost. jamar and I love having our characters at eachother throats. basically i'm just looking for the character that'll run him out of the game like Kent and Ed almost did all those years ago.

... there is ONE of mine who never really had the opportunity to FOCUS on Trip ...

Hmmmmm ;)

(EDIT: holy crap, I just found all my matches/angles/rp's on the wayback machine. i'd forgotten I used to host it all at my site. guess who's excited?)

Wow.. That sure was a long time ago. Not remembering the match at all that must've taken place after my computer died way back when. Ah well. Good read though definitely brings back memories.
