{{..CUE-UP: Standing Outside The Fire - Garth Brooks..}}

(...We call them cool,
Those hearts who have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk the tables being turned...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane Southern in front of an CSWA backdrop...)

SOUTHERN: " Fer years I was worried ah'bout what people thought of me, I played tha' role I was given ... I never took chances because I didn't wanna' loose what I had. At CSWA FIFTEEN, it's time ta' pull out all tha' stops ... it's time ta' become tha' man I always should have been, it's time ta' BE Shane Southern, not just play him. "

(MUSIC UP)

(We call them fools,
Who have to dance within the flames
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane sitting on his Bourbon Street apartment balcony...)

SOUTHERN: " It's quite simple Dan, tha' man you thought you knew ... tha' man you think you've figured out so well ... ain't me. I've finally found mah'self. It took help from people I love ... it took lookin' deep within' mah' soul, but tha' REAL Shane Southern is here. I don't expect you ta' understand ... I don't expect ya' ta' care ... I don't even expect ya' ta' believe me ... but come CSWA FIFTEEN ... come tha' big match, you WILL understand. "

(MUSIC UP)

(But you got to be tough when consumed by desire
Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane sitting on the back of his pickup truck dressed in camouflage...)

SOUTHERN: " For too long I've watched others be great. I've stood on tha' edge of greatness ... I've tasted it ... I've HUNGERED for it, but I've never feasted. I was always too scared. I never understood what it took ta' be respected, I never understood what it took ta' be a legend. At CSWA FIFTEEN, I'll take mah' final test, ta' see if I'm ready ... ta' see if greatness is something I can swallow ... or if it's just something I spit out and never truly taste. "

(MUSIC UP)

(We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane sitting in a hotel room, beer in hand...)

SOUTHERN: " I've always considered mah'self a role-model. But I never truly wanted ta' be. I'm not ah' guy people should model themselves after. I'm weak. I tried to live life as a loner, while at the same time trying ta' be ah father, a husband and an entertainer. I'm wishy-washy. I feel one thing one day, and tha' opposite tha' next. But I realized something ah'bout ah' month ago ... I'm human. I can't live mah' life as a super hero ta' anybody. I've simply gotta' be me ... "

(MUSIC UP)

(We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane sitting across a dinning table from a young woman, her back is to the camera ...)

SOUTHERN: " People say that when yer ah' wrestler ... you can't BE anythin' else. For years that's all I was ... but now I have somebody that I want ta' be somethin' different to. I have something ta' fight for outside this sport. N' it's made me not only a better human being ... but a better wrestler. 'Cause now ... mah' mind isn't focused on wrestlin' twenty-four seven. I can take a break from it n' be a normal guy. N' believe it or not, that was ah' missin' ingredient in mah' success. You can be TOO focused on somethin'...n' I was TOO focused on wrestlin'. SO focused that I couldn't see tha' forest for tha' trees. Perhaps that makes no sense ta' anybody ... but it makes sense ta' me. N' that's all that really matters anyway. "

(MUSIC UP)

(There so hell-bent on giving
Walking a wire
Convinced it's not living
If you stand outside the fire...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane standing alone in a wrestling ring...)

SOUTHERN: " I'm LIVIN' LIFE now. I'm tha' complete package I never could seem ta' be before. It's time ta' step up. THIS is my chance ... I may never get one again. THIS (motions to the ring) is MY domain. It's time fer Shane Southern ta' take tha' next step.

(MUSIC UP)

(Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to glide higher and higher
I can't abide standing outside the fire...)

(MUSIC FADE...CUT-TO: Shane standing back in front of the CSWA backdrop...)

SOUTHERN: " Dan, you n' me ... it's been a long time comin'. Ever since ya' beat me over in NFW, I've wanted this match ... n' now it's on tha' grandest stage of 'em all. Headlinin' ANNIVERSARY. I don't dislike you Dan. I respect tha' HELL out of ya'. Yer a man that's gone out n' TAKEN what he's wanted. Yer tha' CSWA WORLD Champion, n' that's somethin' only a few handfuls ah' people can say they've done. But until you BEAT me, until you take me to mah' limit fer that belt ... you can't say you've done it all. Can you do it ALL Dan? CAN you beat me? You've done it before ... but this time ... "

" It means so much more. "

" It's time ta' step inside tha' fire Dan. "

((MUSIC UP)

(Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried it is just merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire....)

SOUTHERN V/O: " Party's Over. "

DAN RYAN sitting on a long wooden porch swing that swings idly with the weight of the World Champion.

Sunset's light creeps into the shot. Ryan sits calmly facing the camera......not smirking.....not laughing....

Simply looking.....

Ryan: "Before we do this, Shane...."

That look is replaced by concern...

"We don't have to use Garth Brooks music for all of these, do we? I guess they're deep in a 'boy from Yukon, Oklahoma nothing ever happens there' sorta way. But seriously, Shane......damn."

"I guess as long as you don't dye your hair black, grow a goatee and start calling yourself Shane Gaines I'll be alright."

"You were standin' way too close
To see it all fall apart "

"Now Shane, so many things have changed since the first time we met. It's been what, over a year now....at least?"

"You've gone through some changing....and through it all you've made one thing abundantly clear to me the whole time."

"You don't think I understand you."

"Shane, think on that and wake up JUST a little."

"Who was it again telling you all along to stop playing a role and be yourself? Who was it that told you to stop being such a pu**y and stop letting Aaron Douglas control you? Who was that, Shane?"

"And there were things you couldn't hear
'Cause you were listenin' with your heart"

"Now I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like I'm your counselor....that I spoke and you obeyed."

"But I understood you before you knew yourself. And why?"

"Because I've done this all before, Shane. You're so wrapped up in your little world of self-realization that you don't even recognize that it never had to come to this to begin with. Did it ever once cross your mind that perhaps someone else may have gone through these very same things?"

"But you can't say I didn't warn you
Now there's no one else to blame"

"You talk about being too focused on wrestling to be a good father or husband...."

"I hadn't seen my daughter in almost a year when she passed away."

"So what is it that made me so furious with you while you had Aaron Douglas' fist around your balls pulling you around the wrestling world?"

"You had a chance to correct it, and you weren't taking it."

"Shane, there are two ways to go in that situation. You either take the chance or you wallow in what could have been. I was hoping you would take this path, and you did."

"You finally have my respect for that, Shane.....not as a wrestler. You can't help but respect Shane Southern for his ability in the ring."

"No, I respect you as a man."

"And as for me? I'm very simple, Shane. I come from the same South that you come from. If there's something I can do nothing about....I let it pass and move on. If there's something I can do something about.....you're damn right I take what I want."

"This is a selfish business, Shane. There's little time for second guessing and trying to please everyone you meet."

"Maybe you're finally learning what you need to be great."

"Thing is, I learned that lesson a long time ago."

"You've come into your little renaissance of self-realization for this match, Shane. Coincidental as it is, I'm at least three years ahead of you in the process."

"You're just now starting to get where you need to be. But the thing inside that makes me great....it isn't ability, it's not my egotistical nature....and no Shane....despite what you think....it isn't my undeniable desire to be the greatest there ever was."

"It's unquantifyable, Shane."

"It's nothing you'll ever be able to pinpoint....nothing you'll ever be able to attain....."

"It simply exists on its own....and not all of us get it."

"Will you get it? Will you make that special leap on this one night and cause me to stumble....cause me to fail?"

"I'm not superman, Shane."

"I've had lots of oppurtunities to fail."

"I just don't take any."

"There's no one quite as blind
As a victim of the game"

"Can I beat you, Shane?"

"If you're to the point you truly need to get to, you wouldn't have to ask that question. The question for you is...."

"Can you beat me?"

"Here's your chance to take it to that limit, Shane. Me? I'm already there."

"You ready to join that party?....."
