[Fade into Tom Holzerman, standing in front of the big screen at the TEAM Studios in West Chester, PA. On said big screen, Joey Melton and Mr. Entertainment are struggling to grab the flag.]
TH: It's do or die time. The playoffs are set. Who'd be in? Who's left out? It's time to find out.
[Cue up "Down" by Stone Temple Pilots.
Cut to BEAST thumping JOE AVERAGE with a powerbomb.
Cut to MR. AMAZING! assaulting D! with the Championship of Champions Belt.
Cut to KARINA WOLFENDEN delivering the Dual Halo to ADAM BENJAMIN.
Cut to ULYSIS SOLIAN staring down DANNY BOY VEGAS.
Cut to KARL BROWN hoisting the Merrit Trophy, then flash cut to D! with the Championship of Champions Belt across his waist.
Cut to: The Epicenter logo once more, fading into Tom Holzerman and Steve Murray at the Epicenter desk.]
TH: Hello everybody! I'm Tom Holzerman, here's Steve Murray. Welcome to Epicenter, folks.
[Cut to an EPW/NEW graphic, Holzerman sitting in front.]
TH: No one thought that EPW would be in this position. Win or go home. They were the odds-on favorite to take this group, and now, they needed a win over NEW just to create a logjam at the top and perhaps force a sudden death playoff. It was do or die.
[Cut to the New Orleans Arena, MWG standing in the ring.]
TH V/O: The night didn't start off well for EPW as right off the bat, as this first match ended before it even started. Shane comes down the aisle and he's ambushed by MWG's manager, Krist Blue, who happens to be weilding a fire extinguisher. Now, you'd think Shane would win here via disqualification, but the match hasn't even started yet. Referee Brian Puter has no choice but to have the match start.
[Cut to in the ring, where Shane is staggering around. MWG looks on.]
TH V/O: The match officially starts and MWG takes full advantage, charging in. BRUTAL clothesline on Shane, sending him over the top rope. Shane takes a nasty spill and hits his head against the guard rail. Normally, that's not bad, but combine that with the trauma from the extinguisher shot a few minutes earlier, and Shane's out like a light. MWG wins by countout, and NEW takes a one to zip lead.
[Cut to Joey Melton jabbering at Mr. Entertainment.]
TH V/O: Joey Melton now has the weight of his entire federation on his shoulders, but that's the way the Unifier likes it. He was in trouble early, as Mr. Entertainment wasn't having any of his mouth running. Big clothesline.
[Cut to Mr. E behind Melton.]
TH V/O: Mr. E kept that momentum going early on here with this backdrop suplex, nicely executed.
[Cut to Mr. E with Melton staggered.]
TH V/O: Of course, you can't keep a good Sexual All-American down. Mr. E with the superkick that's blocked. Melton spins E around and hits him with his own backdrop.
[Cut to Melton running the ropes.]
TH V/O: And here we see Joey giving Mr. E the high knee, but not in his posterior. Right across the chest and Mr. E takes a tumble.
[Cut to Mr. E whipping Melton into the ropes.]
TH V/O: You also can't keep a good entertainer down, and Mr. E got right back up. Here he nails Melton with a neckbreaker out of the Irish Whip.
[Cut to Mr. E trying to climb the turnbuckle.]
TH V/O: And now, he's trying to grab the flag here, but Melton grabs him before he can. Electric chair and fall back for the suplex.
[Cut to Melton with Mr. E on the canvas.]
TH V/O: And for good measure, Melton nails Mr. E with the knee.
[Cut to Melton climbing the ropes.]
TH V/O: Now, it's Melton's turn to try and grab the flag, but he's accosted last minute, Mr. E slams on the ropes and the Sexual All-American's game is in trouble there.
[Cut to Mr. E with Joey spread eagle.]
TH V/O: And to add insult and even more injury to injury [wishbone leg split] I don't even want to describe that move.
[Cut to Mr. E climbing the ropes again.]
TH V/O: Mr. E once again trying to get his teammate to come out, but Joey gets up and drags him off of the turnbuckles by his ankle. Mr. E hits his head on the way down, and now Joey's in control.
[Cut to Melton with a Boston crab locked in.]
TH V/O: And here's Melton trying to wear down Mr. E, taking his legs out from under him.
[Cut to Melton climbing the turnbuckle.]
TH V/O: Melton climbing, so close to gaining the power play, but Mr. E catches him, grabbing his tights. He's climbing up too, and now he's at an even keel. Melton shifts himself around now, and here he goes, one elbow, but Mr. E trades him a punch. Elbow, punch, elbow, punch, elbow, elbow, and the third elbow sends Mr. E from the top, Joey Melton grabs the flag, and guess who comes out...
[Cut to the entry way.]
TH V/O: Yep, the EPW World Heavyweight Champion, Lindsay Troy. THe fans explode. Troy enters the ring and lands a roundhouse kick right to Mr. E's head. Then Melton grabs him as he falls back and nails him with a reverse DDT. Finally, Troy to the top and nails him with the shooting star press. Melton covers, and this one's all tied up.
[Cut to Frankie Scott in the ring with HAL]
TH V/O: All tied up, and this tag match becomes all important. Frankie Scott was a house on fire early on. Here he is laying punch after punch right into the grill of HAL.
[Cut to Scott behind HAL.]
TH V/O: Scott drills HAL with that German suplex.
[Cut to Chaos blind tagging himself in as HAL is running the ropes.]
TH V/O: Not even Chaos can stop Scott. Scott first with the clothesline on HAL and then like a cat, ducks Chaos' own lariato~! attempt and reverses it into a neckbreaker.
[Cut to Scott with Chaos in a half-crab.]
TH V/O: Scott wearing down Chaos here with the single leg crab here, man Scott was unable to be stopped. But His Phenomenalness would be derailed by miscommunication.
[Cut to Scott running the ropes.]
TH V/O: Scott bounces off the ropes, but right into Dan Ryan. Scott is shaken up, but then he turns around to look at Ryan. Both men stare each other down and exchange short words, but referee Monet Samuel demands that Ryan gets in the ring. The collision constitutes a blind tag! Ryan is livid, but before either him or Scott could protest, Chaos and HAL rush across the ring. HAL tackles Scott out of the ring and Chaos submarines Ryan, chop blocking his knee. Ryan falls through the ropes, holding his leg. And they'd attack that all night.
[Cut to Chaos with Ryan in a leg lace.]
TH V/O: Chaos working that right leg of Dan Ryan's, and you can see it's really starting to bother Ryan at this point.
[Cut to a gimpy Ryan up with Chaos sizing him up.]
TH V/O: And now Chaos lets HAL get in in on the action. He drops back, allows HAL the blind tag and comes in with a running kick on Ryan's right leg. Ryan to the canvas and HAL comes right in with the spinning toe hold. Scott tries to come in to even things up, but Samuel keeps him otu of the ring, allowing the NEWers to doubly stomp on Ryan.
[Cut to HAL with Ryan up and gimpy.]
TH V/O: And here's the final blow, HAL kicks Ryan in the leg, doubling him over. The Computer Expert grabs him and with his leg hurting and not able to give as much resistance, Ryan is prone to the Control-Alt-Delete. Scott tries for the save, but Chaos gets the counter save going, and HAL gets the pinfall on Dan Ryan. NEW wins, finishes their impressive undefeated run through Group B, and EPW goes home stunned. The dream is over.
[Cut to Holzerman at the desk.]
TH: After the match, all tests run on Ryan's leg came up negative. No lasting damage to his right leg. When asked if the leg still hurt, Ryan responded, "No, the leg doesn't hurt. The only thing that hurts is that my team is out of this tournament."
[Cut to Murray with the NAPW/WZW inset.]
SM: With EPW losing, NAPW clinched their spot in the playoffs by virtue of their head-to-head win over EPW. Did that mean they would take it easy over WZW?
[Cut to Patrick Bickle charging at Dallas Nash.]
SM V/O: Patrick Bickle sure wasn't as he's charging full-steam ahead at Dallas Nash. Flying cross chop and it sends the WZW superstar over the top rope. Then Bickle gets up, drops back and charges towards Nash again, leaping over the top with a no-hands plancha. Can you say, "Wipeout?" Both guys out on the canvas, referee Brian Puter counts. IT's close, but Bickle makes it back in in time, escaping with a countout victory.
[Cut to Bruce Richards and Kyle Roberts in the ring awaiting Ice Cold and Hunter McKay.]
SM V/O: The next match ended pretty badly for WZW as well. Ice Cold and Hunter McKay try to enter the ring sliding in, but in an amazing display of dexterity, Bruce Richards and Kyle Roberts with synchronized baseball slides meet them both at the crowns of their heads. Both wrestlers roll out of the ring, and Ice Cold has had it. He grabs a chair and heads into the ring with it, swinging at Kyle Roberts. Richards is able to deflect it so it doesn't nail his partner right in the head, but referee Monet Samuel has seen enough. She disqualifies the WZW guys as Roberts grabs the chair and chases Ice Cold out of the ring with it.
[Cut to Ravager and Titan as the cell lowers.]
SM V/O: NAPW clinches the win, but Titan's still thinking about taking some pride with him. He has the size advantage, but if we know one thing about Ravager, he's sadistic, and he shows it here. Kick to the gut adn a rake of the eyes on the big man. This only angers Titan though, who rubs his eyes and just boots the everloving crap out of the man they call Bob.
[Cut to Titan with his hand around Ravager's throat.]
SM V/O: It looks like we're gonna see Ravager go for a ride here, but with everything legal, All Business kicks Titan in his business. Titan staggers back and Ravager takes advantage by dropkicking him right out of the ring.
[Cut to Titan and Ravager near the cage.]
SM V/O: And Ravager not letting up here, dragging Titan's face across the cage. The big man gets busted open here.
[Back in the ring, Titan staggered, Ravager running the ropes.]
SM V/O: Titan's eyes covered in blood, but he still can see. Ravager running off the ropes and going for a leaping clothesline, but Titan catches him and drops him HARD to the canvas.
[Cut to Titan with Ravager in the military press.]
SM V/O: Here, Titan just shows who the strong man really is. Just tosses Ravager out of the ring onto the cage. Ravager crumples into a heap. Most men woudl fold after that, but Ravager proves resilient.
[Cut to Titan with Ravager up in the choke slam position.]
SM V/O: Titan showing his strength, but he's being a bit of a show off. He lifts Ravager high in the air, high enough for Ravager to get a clear shot at Titan's face with his legs. One kick, two kicks... three kicks to the face adn Titan topples down. Ravager deftly lands on top of him, sitting on his chest, and grabs his legs for the amazing one-two-three. Just like that, NAPW gains the sweep and they get to swoop into the playoffs with momentum.
[Cut to a final standings bracket.
W L D (Sweep) Pts
NEW 3 0 0 (1) 7
NAPW 2 1 0 (1) 5
EPW 1 2 0 (1) 3
WZW 0 3 0 (0) 0]
SM V/O: And there you see it, NEW finishes first and NAPW comes in second. They'll be heading for the playoffs. EPW will be going home although they did put up a valiant fight. WZW, swept out.
[Cue up Led Zeppelin, "No Quarter." Cut to Yori Yakamo Jr. wearing an electric yellow fur coat and assless chaps (thankfully he's facing front).]
TH V/O: Yori Yakamo, Jr. here looking quite scary, but would it be scary enough for him and El Tremendo to get a tag team win over Beast and Big Dog? We'll recap the WAR TO SETTLE THE SCORE next! Stay tuned.
[Cut to a commercial for Bud Light, the guy who never spills his beer.]
TH: It's do or die time. The playoffs are set. Who'd be in? Who's left out? It's time to find out.
