This is how you do it.

[COLOR=red...] without the ...

<font color=red> or like this </font>

font color=red <------ beginning tag to be enclosed within angle brackets <>

or like this <-------- text you want to color red between beginning and ending tags

/font <------ ending tag to be enclosed within angle brackets <>


Either one will work, though Katz's suggestion looks to be the simpler route.....
