What Do You Mark Out For?

What or who do you mark-out for in CSWA? A particular wrestler, personality, style of match?

Currently I'm a huge fan of Men of Adventure. HO!

Love to hear everyone's responses. :)

Aw man, that's swell to hear.

I'm a Professionals mark. Jamar and Katz, along with Schmid, were the guys who taught me how to RP in the first place. So that's the mustard, to my mind ...

I mark out for the Pros, well, I guess they're the Intruders now - so it's no wonder I hitched GUNS' wagon to their heat.

I also think Triple X does some pretty good stuff and is going to be a major player in the CSWA.

I'm a huge GUNS mark. I'm now an Aho mark. I also mark for XXX. I didn't think I would, but I like this kids' stuff. Stevens is coming up.

Don't want to sound like a broken record, but TripleX is HOT. I love his stuff. Aho too.

But most of all, I NEED for Gregg to take a vacation and drop a few more JJ DEVILLE roleplays! AVOID THE NOID!!

The Intruders made me remember just how entertaining GUNS is. If I handled a slightly less serious wrestler I'd have him come out to a GUNS match and give him eight bucks to lie down for his opponent - keep the nickel for the parking meter.

Triple X is the man. And I'll say it until someone believes me, Jay is one of my favorite people to write with.

I hope the new PLR fixes things, because Kevin Powers used to be one of my favorites as well, but hiatuses, moves, and silly army things have kept EZ from having any kind of FOCUS for a long time.

So bring back the focus, ya lush!

And I've always loved Evan Aho's stuff - it's so simple. The Wrestler. I can't believe nobody thought of it sooner.

Of course, anyone else wouldn't have done it half as well.

Eddy Love, Troy Windham, and Mike Randalls? Where are they now? I know Katz and Greggulator are around, but WHERE'S THE LOVE?!?

Mike Randalls was, indeed, awesome stuff. I could stand seeing some more of that goodness!

I only put MoA on my last one but I'm going to make a longer itemized list. :)

- Kevin Powers and Steve Radder in Celebrity Jeopardy (especially "Give A Midget A Keg")
- Gregg Gethard writing Aho's matches.
- The Pros on the mic
- Mike Randalls
- Eddy Love
- Gregorian Chant as Deacon's entrance theme
- Eddy Love having forty different theme songs
- View To A Kill as a finisher. SOLID.
- "Abdominal stretch...NO! ADLERPLEX!"
- JJ DeVille's nunchucks
- The new "GUNS don't kill people...he makes them wish they were dead" shirts.
- "Hero" as Hornet's theme music
- The Fish Fund charity
- Triple X, Lawerence Stanley, Shane Southern, Mike Plett and Evan Aho as the brat pack (or whatever you want to call them, that's just the name that struck me at the moment).
- "Fearless" Jones as a serious straight-face
- "HO!"

I always get to these things last don't I?;-) When I joined the CSWA two years ago it was my first ever fed and I'd never RPed before, so I asked Chad for some advice. He told me the best thing to do was look at the main guys here and look at the way they RPed. I did, and since then I've always loved the work of Gregg, Katz, EZ, Pete, Warren, Chad and Steve to name just a few. Add to that the 'newer' guys who either came in the same time as me or later such as Mikey, Tom, Evan, Jamar and you see why the CSWA is filled with love! :)

P.S. I agree, I'm a huge MoA mark too! :)

The things I mark out for the most is the insane attention to detail that has become a CSWA trademark. (Actually, now that I think about it, it's probably more of a JN/Katz trademark that I and a few others stole.)

The RP's of Katz, NJ, KS, TW, Chad and (sometimes) Steve (and, I hope, myself) are really of the old-school style. I recently wrote on the EW Forums about this style... where less is more. These guys write in a style where there is a lot of description without there being a lot of words used to describe said description. There'a a great usage of word economy and the like to get across points, which is really effective.

On top of that, other old-time RPers like Pete Russo and Steve also go about RPing in different ways a lot of times, but the same sense of not being too wordy and letting the story come about naturally comes across great.

And that sense has also been really picked up on by the guys who came on board after the move over to the web. Some guys are really old-school with how they write-- Eddy Love, Steve Radder, Kevin Powers, Lawrence Stanley come to mind. Other guys use the more "current" style that is popular in other leagues but have tweaked the way they write towards the CSWA-- Triple X comes to mind. And then others are somewhere in between, like Evan Aho and Wicked Sight.

But everyone has one thing in common in their writing styles-- there's an attention to detail and the little things that really make the CSWA what it is.

We've also been doing a GREAT job doing that in matches lately, also.

I have to admit to being thoroughly entertained by the Pete Russo story-telling style of RP. I'll be honest - I prefer to read RP's JN-style, as if it were a script of something that was airing on television, but I have the utmost respect for the talent of Russo or Tard who do the novel-style story-telling RPs. Those seem to me to be far more difficult and require so much more talent than anything I throw out there, so my hat's off to that.

That being said, the one RP I've marked out for the most since I've been back in the CSWA was Katz's recent Miles RP parodying that style of RP (with the boom-box giving the narration).

Dang, you guys are swell.

I'm a mark for so many things in this league, some of which seem somewhat unconventional after reading this post.

I used to be (well still am) a huge Mark Vizzack mark. It's probably not too surprising to many of the guys who've been around long to hear/read this. The Vizz/Love feud was GOLD.

I've always been a huge fan of both of my ex-partners in PLR, Eddy Love and Kevin Powers, and the guys that write them are a pleasure to work with, and honestly, I believe, bring out the best in my character. In fact, for a long while, I was the person who was pulling the strongest for a reunion, but it looks like it'll not be happening now, doesn't it? ;)

It's been boss to see some GUNS RP up again, and to be completely honest (time for a non-subtle hint) I am hoping for a Radder/GUNS feud in the near future. That would rule.

From a non-wrestling standpoint, I'm a huge fan of the community we have going in the CSWA. It's awesome and a great pleasure to talk to all you guys (AIM : popeass).

And hey, I'm a huge fan of both Katz and Russo, especially Katz's parody of the entire FW thing awhile back. Of course, no-one would be surprised by the inclusion of Pete here, since we roll together. Dag, yo, Pete. LOL.

The #1 thing I like the best though, is seeing new members of the league improve and modify their characters and RP, and get into things. Seriously, it may be cliche, but without new guys ... well, it would still be Hornet, Windham, Wall, and Melton.

Also - I marked for the 'pre-PPV' countdown stuff for Fish Fund, and the placeholder graphics for the matches. I might have to bite summa that. :)

LOL...I think "Ho Ho HOOTERS" should be the annual Christmas event. ;-) It's been too long.

Then again, if we did that, Katz would probably want to try and make Teri's implants explode again... which was one of the worst ideas EVER!
