act 09: picking the path
--------------------------------------

The hotel's peak reached high into the night-time sky of the city, seemingly finding itself able to touch the clouds as it loomed ominously over the rest of the city below it, bringing onlookers to crane their heads upwards just to see how high it went.

Undoubtedly an expensive hotel to stay within, the whole look of the building practically screaming out at the world that for the low payment of $500 dollars, you could spend one night in one of the upper rooms of the building. It may even be one of those hotels where the lowest classes of rooms could be compaired to the highest class suites of normal hotels.

And it was within this luxurious hotel... that the NLCW administration were staying. JLR only wanted the finest for himself and, due to the large pay-per-view coming up, likely also wished to see the interviewing done within the lavishing rooms of the hotel. Anything he could do to make the NLCW look bigger, better, and more professional to the public was always a plus-- even when it was the top orginization of wrestling in the world.

It's hard to be on the top of the world's tallest mountain... to go about every day knowing that you're representing something that only grows in strength and numbers each day. Dominic Pericolo had learnt to deal with that stress over time, knowing that he was the NLCW's shining star, that he was the one to take the NLCW to places that men like Sean Galen or Dillon Durst never could imagine taking it.

It was alot to live up to... but he knew he could do it.

Especially after everything that had happened so far.

Finding out just how afraid he was of stepping back into the match designed to end people's careers... finding out just what might happen if he were allow himself to lose himself, and to lose grip on the world around him for a second time.

Finding out that if he continued as he was... he would quickly see the fall of all of his dreams.

Dominic couldn't stand the thought of that... he was shooting for the third of three paths to walk down.

The doors to the hotel opened automatically as he stepped before him, introducing him to the massive main room, where the front desk stretched much longer then any other dront desk he'd seen before-- used to keep up with all the rich guests that came to book a stay.

His feet, moving him forward to the desk where a man wearing what Dominic could only describe to himself as being one of the most unneccesarily expensive looking tuxedos he had ever seen glanced up at him. The tuxedo had solid gold buttons, diamond buttons on the wrists of the dress shirt beneath the jacket... along with many other shining, glittering objects that Dominic would rather not take the time to identify, truly not being able to understand the reason for flaunting wealth to the world with such useless things.

"Excuse me?" asked Dominic, getting an odd glance from the man behind the desk as he spoke, "What room is Michelle Davis of No Limits Championship Wrestling staying in, sir? I've got an appointment with her to conduct an interview for our upcoming event."

The man squinted at Dominic, carefully lifting up his phone and punching numbers into it, before waiting several moments until whomever he was calling on the other end had picked up.

"Ms. Davis?" the man spoke in a voice that nearly made Dominic cringe, giving him flashbacks of those girls back in high school with the attitudes and the tendency to use the word 'like' every other four or five words into a sentence, "There's a man here to see you about an interview. His name is..."

There was a pause, as the man covered the mouthpeice to the phone and gave Dominic a glance, simply asking, "What is your name, sir?"

"Dominic Pericolo. I'm the company's world heavyweight champion."

The man's eyes widened as he heard the words 'world heavyweight champion', realizing rather quickly that the status of Dominic in the company was a high one. Uncovering the mouthpeice to the phone, he simply stated to Michelle, "... Dominic Pericolo. He's on his way up right now."

Promptly, the man hung up, looking over at Dominic with a forced smile, though obviously nervous as hell having realized that he wasn't treating Dominic with the respect the man thought Dominic would be demanding from him.

"My apologies sir," he babbled off, "I hadn't recognized you from the television. We have to confirm visits with our guests as it stands, but had I recognized you--"

"You don't watch our program, do you?" chuckled Dominic, "Don't worry about it, I'm not upset at all. The only reason I'm not staying here is because I don't particularly prefer to spend too much money on things we don't need. Your rooms are nice and all... but so much of what it costs is for items of the rooms we wouldn't need for a few nights stay."

The man nodded in understanding, picking up a sticky-note and jotting down the number to Michelle Davis' room, giving him another forced smile.

"Well, sir... have a good night!"

"You too," replied Dominic, chuckling softly as he walked off. Looking down at the card, Dominic noticed that the room was located around the middle of the building-- obviously, JLR wanted the high spot all to himself. Sounds just like the guy to do that, too...

With a shake of the head, Dominic began his walk to the elevators, humming a tune to himself as he did so. Ever since Friday he'd been feeling fantastic about himself, thanks to those dreams he'd been having. The one at the bus stop seemed to also fill him with even more resolve then before, inspiring him to continue on to this interview with his head held high. He had stayed silent for so long... it was time to send one last message out to his opponents, and to make it as loud and as clear as can possibly be.

Dominic Pericolo will not back down.

'Because a Pericolo never gives up... never says die.' thought Dominic to himself, smiling wider at this. It was something he would forever live by-- it was practically his family's motto. It was also what suddenly made Dominic think back to his walk through purgatory, as he thought about what he'd learned had caused all of that to happen.

It wasn't just because Dominic had continued on the path he was choosing to take... it was because Dominic flat out gave up.

Dominic surrendered to the pressure and finally let it consume him, and that was certainly not what a Pericolo does. How could Dominic proudly uphold his family's name if he was falling short on something they'd always preached about to each other? A line forever used by them to lift the spirits of their downed family members?

Dominic never really did hear of anyone he'd known in his family giving up at anything... the Pericolo family was a very stubborn one, and some of them were also 'blessed' with that firey Italian drive as well, giving them all the more determination and stubborness to surrender then anyone really would believe possible.

In the ring... Dominic needed to be that way. In life... Dominic needed to be that way.

In love, Dominic needed to be that way.

If he were to give up on the one thing he'd always reminded himself of all throughout his life, he'd be walking down that path of Purgatory and would eventually lose everything that he loved. That... is not something that he wanted to have to see happen.

At the end of his dream Dominic had been unsure of the path he would go down, but there was absolutely no denying it now. No matter what the outcome to the match may be... Dominic would change his path for the better, and make his way down the path to the heavens.

For now, however, he had to focus on the path to the elevator, which directly led him to the path to Michelle Davis' room, which then led him to waiting on a couch outside in the hallway.

After all, he had came several hours early-- the set wasn't quite finished yet.

"Just... take a nap or something," Michelle said, offering Dominic a smile, "We really weren't prepared for you to get here so early. I'm sorry about this, Dominic... had we known we would have had things ready by now."

"It's no problem," Dominic replied, smiling right back, "I could use another nap anyway."

After all... he had to see what awaited him on the path he'd chosen to walk down.
