TEAM is proud to announce that the Chad Dupree Memorial Cup Tournament is coming back to the wrestling world for a second year. The Dupree Cup is a team-based, World Cup styled tournament where feds send squads to compete for interpromotional dominance. This year, there will be a twist, as now active stables may now send representation without having to take up their parent fed's total eligibility. For example, if the Highland Park Social Club were to want their own separate team in the tournament, they could send one without A1E or EPW being affected. Eight to sixteen teams may enter. Handlers may handle more than one character in this tournament, but they may not handle on more than one team. IE, if Dan West wanted to handle Prisoner 187 and Chip Friendly in this tournament, he could, but they would have to be on the same team.

Tournament Set-up

Teams will be split into brackets of four for round-robin play in the first round. Each team will face off against the other three teams in its bracket. Meets are split into three matches; one singles match, one gimmicked singles match and a tag match. After all three weeks of round robin play are over, the bracket winners and a number of wild-card teams (two or three, depending on whether there are 8, 12 or 16 teams in total) will make the playoff round, which consists of single elimination meets. Advancement to the single elimination stage will depend on total accumulation of points, as shown below:

Draw (each fed wins one match apiece and there is one draw, or if all three matches end in a draw) - 1 point
Win (one fed wins two matches and loses one, wins two matches and draws one or wins one match and draws two) - 2 points
Sweep (one fed wins all three matches in a meet) - 3 points

In the tournament stage, there are no draws, and teams do not get anything special for scoring a sweep.

RP Set-up

RP is totally free-formed. Depending on the number of teams entering, I will try to keep the promo RP teams and narrative RP teams in separate brackets. In the event that I can't, or in the playoffs where these teams will eventually meet, then I'll judge and instruct my other judges to score on total quality of RP, not on style. If you write in narrative, then please don't feel like you can't do that for this tournament.

Meet Set-up

Each team shall have a captain, be he/she on the team or not. The captain can be a fedhead, a team member or an in-character "coach." That captain is responsible for getting me a lineup for each fed, i.e. who's wrestling in the singles match, the gimmick match and the tag match.

Judging

There will be a panel of three to five judges, depending on the diversity of turnout from various communities. I will be on that panel, as well as representatives from FW, PTC, WfWA, the angle fed community or whatever other community/indie fed bloc is involved to ensure fair representation.

Questions

Any other questions will be addressed here.

Deadline for entry

You have until no later than Saturday, August 4th at 11:59:59 PM (give or take a second) to enter.

Alright everyone, get your teams together and fight for interfederational pride!

The defending Champions are IN~! This year's team that will be out to win their second Dupree Cup in as many years:

Larry Tact - The once and future NEW World Champion, perhaps?
HAL - 2006 Dupree Cup Co-Most Valuable Wrestler
Shawn Hart - Another major contender for the NEW World Championship

and

Jason Payne - The man who carried NFW to the semifinals last year has jumped ship and made NEW that much more dangerous

I've sent out PMs to the handlers I've chosen to represent NFW. I'm also warning that any NFW characters competing under banners for different feds should consider themselves immediate heels in the federation for the next year, and prime targets of our coach and first alternate, Mike Randalls.

Suck it.

:)

That's nice.

Because confirmed as our first two members of NFW's team are none other than the Season Two silver medalist Yori Yakamo, Junior, and NFW World Champion, Kin Hiroshi.

Professor Tremendous gladly excepts your offer to lead NFW into battle (and graciously assumes that the invitation is just lost somewhere in cyberspace). I will insist that Kin let me carry the NFW World Title belt for the duration of the event though.

You're welcome.

Does that qualify as my 1 required title defense for the month of August?

Step aside, peanut gallery, it's time to announce the second team in. They represent the fed that's doing a joint card with last year's Dupree Cup Champions. Yep, Empire Pro Wrestling will send:

Dan Ryan - The owner has something to prove after last year's playoff miss
Lindsay Troy - The former Champion steps off from the sidelines to help bring home the Cup
Karl Brown - EPW's Intercontinental Champion adds technical prowess
Sean Stevens - Could he be the next EPW Champion?

...and as an alternate...

Dope - The mysterious new superstar lends his aide in case any of the above need to step aside for a week.

New Alberta Pro Wrestling is back again this year, looking to get back into the playoffs and perhaps advance just a little further then they did last year...

Chris Casino - The Bad Boy of NAPW steps in to head the team
Link Van Haggard - This rising star is looking to get noticed by helping the fed in the interpromotional waters
Jason Cruise - He's right in the thick of things for the FFA~! Championship, and he's back for more
Simply Beautiful - The Sexiest Man in Wrestling will lend his talents to Team NAPW

I was kinda thinking that that's where the 'Alternate' would fall-in.

I was kind of thinking you'd make a good Sherpa for coke-fiending Bolivians.

Of course, both of these statements are neither here nor there since you're not Holzerman and I'm not Chuck Norris.
