Are the numbers arbitrary or do they represent anything? I'm asking because I expected 5 judges per bracket and was expecting a rating on 5 or at least an odd number. What's the deal with the reporter hate? I'm asking because it's something of a standard trope amongst wrestling promos: because wrestlers are loath to talk about themselves, you add the reporter to force questions. It's also an easy way to justify camera presence. Heck, I was going to ask if the ULTRATITLE had a specific NPC we should use if we want to have an interviewer!

I know about Apter mags, but you can't have them "make up" stuff if you want to promote the wrestler as anyone "real". I'd usually leave the interviewer unnamed myself: so as to focus the reader's attention on the wrestler and not the window dressing. I don't have an interview segment in mind right now but I use tons of unnamed blokes in my RPs to "set up" a scene, so this discussion would be relevant to my interest. Again, thanks for sharing.

Merritt's suggestion for the judges was to grade everything out of 10. For example, a jobber match or a no-show would be 10-0. A match where one guy did much much better would be 7-3, a close match would be 6-4, and a virtual tie where a winner was picked solely because a winner was needed would be 5-5.

We didn't all do this but it was a good indicator.

The numbers for voting are out of 10 total, split between the two guys.

So, 5-5 is a dead heat. 6-4 is one did slightly better. 7-3 is an outclass, and anything beyond that will probably be reserved mostly for jobber matches or no shows.

Speaking for myself, the reporter hate is probably because it's such a generic listless uncreative thing to do. Not that it can't be done, but it should be done well, or not done at all.

That's my estimation.

Solid bracket. I think the right people won. All the matches I saw as close were hard to dispute, as opposed to the controversy surrounding B1. Two particularly interesting results to me:

Alex Leblanc vs. Leyenda de Ocho: I was rooting for Ocho but had my "money" on Leblanc and I paid for it. It's a good thing I don't bet. I think this was the only one I got wrong from my predictions thread post... sorta...

"Suite" Pete Whealdon vs. gideon: I had "Suite" Pete winning this one in my post, but when I made my bracket I think I put my tic next to gideon's name. I was thinking maybe the judges would see the potential and want the character to continue, and it could be justified in a sense that he did have a good showing against Whealdon.

Great job to all the folks in B2. A few lopsided victories and some really hard-fought ones.

Too Cool Chris Hopper vs. Howard King
i didnt really eread most of this. i like the too cool gimmick though. hopper wins an obvious decision.

Larry Tact vs. Derek Martin
larry tact has been around i choose him. martin was good though.

Pete Whealdon vs. Gideon
gideon is f*cking hilarious.

Jason Murray vs. Sean Stevens
stevens did good in a jobber match but loking forward to what he does with a real opponent. looking good stevens!!!!

Classy Mike C vs. Johnny Niles
did not read

Leyanda de Ocho vs. "Canadian Wolf"
canadian wolf? yeaaah way to steal chris benoits gimmick.

Derek Allen vs. Christopher Allen Eagle
christopher eagles i will say this. if you ever stole my character i would find you in real life and beat you within and inch of your life. that said i thought you won the match. i want to see more.

Doc Silver vs. Erik Mateo
erik mateo did one of the most creative things this hobby has seen in years and you all pissed on it. goes to show where peoples heads are at. motherf*cker took a chance. reward him. mateo wins easy.

Sergeant vs. Gemini
tie.

Sammy Brown vs. Cyanide Harvey
it was close both men did great cyanide was alright but sammy brown really came up big.

Castor Stife vs. Jaguar
castor strife won i thought.

Eddie Whisky vs. Chris Walker
another close one. i give it to walker but people saw different.

Here is what I sent to Chad for my judging. I'm not always nice about what I say, so I'll take any heat from that, no problem. But, I know what I like and what I don't. I have a clear vision of that. So, if you have a particular problem with what I say in my judging, please put it here, so I have one conventient place to tell people to go **** themselves.

I'm kidding.

Sort of.

-------
Hopper vs. King: HOPPER over KING, 7-3

I just enjoyed Hopper's posts more. King's first one almost put me to sleep with all the backstory. I'd rather he just get to the point. King's second was better and addressed his opponent, but it seemed really brief. Hopper's second was just as strong as his first, so this is an easy pick for me.

Tact vs. Martin: TACT over Martin, 8-2

Tact was really ****ing good here. Martin was game, but was just outclassed I think. Tact was really on his A-game.

Whealdon vs. gideon: GIDEON over WHEALDON, 5-5

I called this even but I gave a slight edge to Gideon because I liked the way he got over the characterization of his character more. His first was a real risk, making most of his post the scrambled up mutterings of the guy without punctuation or grammar checks, right down to his name itself being all lower-case. I thought it was kind of novel, and I bought it. Whealdon was good too and was good solid character work, but I guess it just comes down to enjoying the gideon character more.

Stevens vs. Murray: STEVENS over MURRAY, 6-4

Close call for Stevens here. On the strength of the first RP apiece, I had Murray with a slight edge, but I think Stevens pulled away on the strength of his second. Murray's argument that implies seedings matter as far as what the "organizers" think or that it took some people more to get a spot and others less is a red herring argument to me, and that's a bit annoying.

Spooky Doom vs. Brigsby: SPOOKY DOOM over CARL BRIGSBY, 10-0

Jobbertime

Mike C vs. Niles: MIKE C. over NILES, 7-3

Eh, Niles did absolutely nothing for me. His first post looked like he mailed it in, and it was hard to come back from that. Mike C was solid, not spectacular, but good enough here.

Leyendo De Ocho vs. Alex Leblanc: LEYENDA DE OCHO over ALEX LEBLANC, 6-4

Both of these guys bored me, but Ocho bored me less. I thought his talk was stronger, but the trash talk in general in this thread made me want to put my eyes out.

Space God vs. Orphan: ORPHAN over SPACE GOD, 10-0

Jobbertime.

Strife vs. Jaguar: CASTOR STRIFE over JAGUAR, 10-0

No show for Jaguar.

Brown vs. Harvey: BROWN over HARVEY, 7-3

Harvey was weak weak weak, here. Brown didn't set the world on fire, but it was perfectly acceptable, he addressed his opponent and the match, and it was enough.

Eddie Whisky vs. Walker: EDDIE WHISKY over CHRIS WALKER, 10-0

No show for Walker.

Colossus vs. Keller: KHRISTAIN KELLER over KC COLOSSUS, 10-0

Jobbertime.

Sergeant vs. Gemini: SERGEANT over GEMINI, 5-5

I really REALLY liked both of these guys, and I don't think either should be eliminated based on some of the other roleplay I've been reading where someone has to win between two crappy roleplayers. BUT -- I'm gonna man up and pick a guy here, so I went with Sergeant, who I enjoyed just a bit more.

Allen vs. Eagles: DERRICK ALLEN over EAGLES, 10-0

Sorry, but Eagles broke a cardinal rule of e-fedding, using another character without permission and even giving him dialogue. Permajob.

Doc Silver vs. Mateo: DOC SILVER over ERIK MATEO, 7-3

Mateo's RPs made my head hurt. You gotta be really really good to be able to pull off an accent that thick in e-fedding. I'm not sure this was quite there. I spent way too much time trying to figure out what he was saying. Doc was good if not spectacular.

Anarky vs. Terminator: ANARKY over TERMINATOR, 10-0

Jobbertime.

Cheers for the feedback, judging types! I'm glad my first RP didn't fall as flat as I had feared it might, and it seems that it was a 3-2 decision. So I'm blaming Holzerman, who always votes against me.

I'M NOT READING YOUR BLOG ANY MORE, TOMMY!

)

Congrats to Mr Whealdon. I really loved your character and enjoyed having a little back and forth with him and Nadia. Shame we couldn't have done 3 or 4 as I think that could have been good fun. No shame at all in losing a squeaker to you, especially after god-knows how many years of not writing that style. Now go on and win the bracket, make me proud!

I shall now cease neglecting my poorly baby.)

Guess it's up to me to make you less bored!
