Bit late again but hey, I still get there!
- I have to as always add my boilerplate praise for the intros, every single time they do an excellent job setting the card in motion and really doing what they are suppose to, get ya hyped. I did notice following on from my comments last time around that there weren't any hints at all about who was heading into the final from the intro this time around, which certainly added more ~intrigue~
- One thing I really loved about the intro was it being picked up the entire thing with Dirk/Roop/Being the bloody Prime Minister is dubious at best. Really liked Wilstar picking up on that
- Love dat Impulse t-shirt.
- I discussed a little bit on EFG where me and Voss are hoping to head with Dirk's involvement playing off everyone involved daddy issues and all being broken human beings in one way or another. Hope to keep pushing that forward.
- Really enjoyed the Atken/Alexander vs. Bryant/Anderson semi... bit funny to see how the match ended because basically from when the card was announced, I always picture Atken/Alexander being ejected from the tournament due to Phil ineptitude, so it was quite the surprise. I don't think this semi was a big a deal as the second semi or indeed the main and rightly so considering all the moving parts, however Bryant and Anderson were incredibly deserving finalists. Before the RP period was extended and all the insanity that brought, they were my picks to take the thing, only edged out by Ford's later effort. JN and Biron really integrated well and I hope it's not a dead stop for the two of them.
- Lock JJ and Blaine in a room forever with a camera. Thank you.
- I really, on the back of Night 1, saw Troy cowboyin' this semi-final match. I didn't see JJ being involved after the initial snub and didn't see many others I could picture allying with him. Boy was I wrong. Now of course, JJ done what any petulant adult would rightfully do and be passive agressive as all hell during the bout and on first reading, I thought that'd be all. Holy crap Randalls! I can only assume that Dark Storm and the Playboy Club are now operating under Freebird rules *ahem* Awesome moment.
- Ford's Chutes and Ladders bit did allow for a great discussion on why the hell we use Snakes and Ladders in the UK. I guess you gotta ride the snake or somethink!
- It's not often you get matches with epic soundtracks. Once that kicked in the match just became... I don't know how to put it. A great, great read. Great encounter, just completely breaking down into the insanity as it built to a crescendo. Hilarious way to end the match to, hoisted by his own hubris. Again, well, well deserved win for the Superfly Express... great dynamic to the team and I really feel like it's given a lot of new energy to both Harmen and Nova. Of course the flip side of that match is building up Reloaded and doing that A++ wonderfully. I think some people felt Randalls/Windham just sort of came out of nowhere but the Brawlapalooza has done one hell of a job building up to that match.
- Oh hey! My second match of the evening! You know, given the booking, and given the character, it was one hell of a challenge to try and strike a good and fair balance of focus and character consistancy. Now the fact I was also going against Billy... jesus christ. I sent a PM to him after the RP period finished to say it was a pleasure being crushed by him and it really was. I knew, really, I wasn't going to suddenly become NFW Heavyweight Champion because while I think I have improved a lot from what I used to do here, I'm still no where close to top tier. Billy lives on that tier and it was fun just to even have the shot.
- Again, not at all how I pictured things going down. I did not imagine this night ending with Phil Atken having LEGITIMATE GRIEVANCES. Honestly, I appreciated Billy writing this match giving me even the slightest apperance of being competant in the ring against Castor. I feel again, that this match put wheels into motion more for Reloaded than for this card but hell, look at who is involved in the Reloaded match. Loved the spot of Teddy just fleeing the minute he sees an opportunity to inflict massive damage on a nice wide range of people, I'm sure Voss feels the same way but I felt that captured the character perfectly.
- Jesus fucking christ Sagawa. Jesus. That is all.
- This is the final I predicted in the Night 1 feedback and it wasn't a guessing game, these were the two teams that deserved that spot in the final. I really loved both Superfly's and Anderson/Bryant's RPs in the lead up to the card. When I was trying to guess a winner it was really, really difficult and most likely the reason why I will never judge a competitive RP content. I'd rather just enjoy the work
- I enjoyed the recap of reminding everyone that all four of these men are coming into the match falling apart at the seams, it's a good reminder all this insanity over the two nights has been back to back and they've had wars to get to their spots in the final.
- "he smelled like cheeseburgers, stale Hugo Boss and shame…" I love lines like this. I don't know why. I love them dearly though.
- I always enjoy when we get Brawl main events cutting into O'Connor and Hollywood's commentary, makes it feel special and if any match deserved to be treated that way, this is the one.
- Don't know if this was another Biron/Katz joint but just stellar job on the match. STELLAR! Real, legitimate points where I thought the match was over only to have a kick out.
- Amazing finish and again, the winners more than deserved it. The match, the action it really matched the input from the RP thread. It's a match I would love to see again and hope I will see again.
Overall, gotta to agree (although I've only been back for a little while now) that in terms of story, action and just all out fun, this was one of the best NFW events I've read over the two nights. You know, if this show was designed to get a bit more energy in the tag division it more than exceeded its goal. There are teams such as Bryant/Anderson and Atken/Teddy that I really want to see continue working together whenever possible. I really enjoyed being involved with this and it's funny, being double booked allowed me to push me out of my comfort area of just being a singles guy and pushed me into something I want to continue. So it certainly done the job for me.
Hooray for NFW
