So, you're running a cruiserweight tournament in a fed without a CW division, with the winner getting a shot an an openweight title. How far did you think this through?

It worked pretty well last time we did it. Cruisers aren't shunted off to a different division here.

I did this in 2008... where the winner won a shot at EVERY TITLE IN NFW.

If anyone that participated or was a spectator to that craziness wants to offer any insights/memories to Justin, shoot away!

KATZ EDIT: Err...THANKS PETE! :)

I'm not saying the Cruisers should be shunted.

I'm saying why make the tournament exclusive to a division that doesn't exist.

MAYBE I WANT A CHANCE AT A TITEL SHOT TOO.

Justin edit: Tell me what my ass tastes like!

Re: 2011 Grand Prix Roster/Sign-Up

We never answer "why" in NFW! In doing so, some of us have to go into exile from the government and society in general.

...but as I just showed Justin, the GPX did mark the timeframe when NFW started calling itself a "FREEFORM" fed for a reason.

And that reason would be a religion to leech off anyone not fully satisfied with what L. Ron Hubbard's crack habit lead them.

Re: 2011 Grand Prix Roster/Sign-Up

Anyway.

I'm not throwing anyone under the bus, or anyone's ideals, or anything else. Pete, I know you handle a cruiser. I also know you don't go out of your way to make that his gimmick or pound on the whole David v. Goliath issue all the time. The reason why, is because in NFW as in most eWrestling, it doesn't matter that he's a cruiser, he's a legit main-eventer.

I was just making a point, one that was horribly missed. Next time I'll just jump on the wagon-train and give generic praise to any and everything I see posted. I'm sure that will be helpful.

Re: 2011 Grand Prix Roster/Sign-Up

No, I got your point - you were asking why a fed without a cruiserweight division would have a cruisers-only event that excludes the heavyweights. Kind of like reverse-discrimination due to the fact that cruisers usually get the shaft when it comes to such things.

The reason is BECAUSE cruisers usually get the shaft. JK likes to do things differently here and for the most part we go along with it when it looks like fun. Last time there was a hard weight limit of 235 and the suggestion was made that anyone with a character who was 'borderline' could humorously try to drop those last two or three pounds to qualify.

TL;dr: This exists because it's fun. You don't have to generically slop praise on it, you asked a question in good faith that I think was answered in good faith.

When is the NFW Women's Division coming out? Peter Windham needs more lunchbags to crap in.

Re: 2011 Grand Prix Roster/Sign-Up

PREZ NOTE: I am moving this to keep the threads separate for my personal OCD level.

Um...really, there's nothing taken seriously over here. I actually just tried to point out that it's been done and than just have people offer insight into their collective memories (if they still exist!), so there was at least some historical context/personal experiences to it.

This isn't really even about a cruiserweight 'division' as it is a style of wrestling, which is why it's given the GPX moniker. As those that have or will participated already know or will soon find out, you may face a triple threat or gauntlet scenario.

I'd pay good money to see a Women's Division pass PW around like a purple Mr. Fister and have their way with him.

Seriously, good money.

First Cameron, then Christian. If he switches to Cherish, I think it's time for an intervention.

Re: 2011 Grand Prix Roster/Sign-Up

Insight (fo' REALZ).....

Last time the Grand Prix went and happened, the champions were thus:

World - Nova
TV - Joe The BOUSE
National - Teresa Q

The only one of them who qualified for the GPX, weight-wise, was Teresa, and that's because women (particularly athletic women) as a rule will weigh below 235. Included in the GPX was Felix Red, former NFW World Champion who had fallen on some hard times, and the rest of the field were relative newcomers to the NFW - though High Flyer was a many times World Champion elsewhere - with a pool of cruiser type wrestlers flocking to the fed it made sense to highlight it in some fashion.

The Final Four of the Grand Prix saw Impulse vs. SARS the Clown who was undefeated to that point, until Cimon pussed out and no-showed our blowoff like a lil' b*tch, and Dr. Curiosity vs. Felix Red, that went to a no-contest and was decided in a triangle match that also debuted High Flyer as Fakepulse before Curiosity ultimately won.

With that said, there's history and precedent to the event that makes it unique to the NFW. I don't know that it's as relevant as it was the first time around considering Impulse weighs less than the rest of the company, Castor is only 245 (thus not making it by 10 pounds), and they're going to wrestle for the WORLD title at Reloaded. But it's still nice to have this as a NFW tradition.

2008 GRAND PRIX FUN FACT: Cameron Cruise was initially entered.

CAMERON CRUISE FUN FACT: He weighs around 265 pounds.

KATZ FUN FACT: When I found out Cameron Cruise wasn't a Cruiserweight, it was like finding out Santa Claus was a Scientologist.
