It's serious, apart from the justification for making Hank a face. That'll be more due to Dirk wanting to beat up bad people instead of nice people, maybe because he saw the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future and they were all Rizzo the Rat.

So the schtick is "Dirty" Dirk Dickwood is going to talk for HANK, the lovable mute monster with anime eyes, all while running a business/talent agency/something that I'm just not grasping?

I'm more focused on the mouthpiece than anything.

No.

He's not dirty. He's very clean. At least two showers a week.

If you want specific backstories to well... anything I write then I can only apologise.

It's a YES from me since I've seen a lot of Dirk Dickwood in my time and I know completely what Colin brings to a fed. You should surely give these kind folks some more info on Dirk to make their own YES more meaningful.

Since it's you Voss...

"Superagent" Dirk Dickwood was inspired when I used to listen to a lot of American radio shows (stuff like Opie and Anthony and Howard Stern) and they used to call their big agents "Superagents" which I thought was a ridiculous concept to play around with. So Phil Atken inherited a manager some point in time known as "Superagent" Dirk Dickwood.

The joke being despite being an acclaimed superagent in his own mind and mouth, generally his only clients are the ones he's managing in wrestling at that exact moment, so in Def's case, despite claiming to have a grand empire, Hank, his own chief of security is also his soul client.

Dirk is foul mouthed, mostly stemming from the frustrations of not really being the power broker he imagines himself to be (that and the fact he is of shorter stature). He's a cigar chomper and very much was envisaged in my head as the midget-version of Colonel Robert Parker when he was first conceived.

Recently, I've been adding slight elements of Malcolm Tucker into him because there is a lovely art to using swearing as punctuation but that's something that's tough to live up to.

In the future, poker or Space Poker as it may be known...

I'm also quite aloof when it comes to taking me, my character or my character's histories seriously, I honestly just write for the as and now for whatever fed I'm in. I could've brought in Cecilworth Farthington as a fleshed out character but honestly, I saw Def was short on faces and wanted to play around with an animed eyed Hank building up love and affection with the faithful masses of the crowd while an angry midget yells at people from his corner. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK.

Yes, yes it is.

I can see that you're talented, but if I was voting on application alone, it would be a definite no.

Sleeping (well napping on it), I think I'd rather bin this one. I dunno, just feel like there'd be a clash of styles from how some of the more long term roster members have reacted to my particular brand of nonsense.

You guys have a fun fed and listening to the EFGs with Jeff and Justin, I really like your mentality toward how booking should be done. I've watched a lot of the same interviews you've been discussing and it was great to hear that kind of simple old school belief. I think I'm better suited to the outside on this one though.

I think we should take a deep breath on this one.

I know a lot of long-time FWC guys aren't used to the kind of application process we have, but rather just having an idea and jumping in to make some noise. Whereas a lot of us came up in tight-assed places slap full of rules on how you do anything and everything, and a lot of times we think everything has to be perfect to fit in with our perfect little world.

Well, that's fun and all, but sometimes you just gotta jump into shit.

I for one have enjoyed the DDP roleplays I've read in EPW, and have enjoyed the banter in this thread, and I think you'd make a solid addition to DEFIANCE. I think we can easily work out any kinks that would stop that. So, if you read this and it changes your mind about bowing out, hit me up on AIM or something and lets get this thing done.

For the record, I "No" Voted not because of your character's bio but because of your unwillingness to explain your character. That's my issue. It's with you as a handler not wanting to explain why I should give two fucks about your character.

Your friend convinced you to explain why I should care? Fuck that. This is the reason we have a voting system, it's to filter out bad writers and attitudes that we don't want in Defiance. In your case, it's what I would call a questionable attitude.

Sure, I don't know you and you don't know me. I'm not active with the fwrestling community outside of the Defiance subforum. So, excuse me for not getting your character or your ooc personality. To me, you seem like a troll. I mean, VOSS likes you, maybe he knows you from way back when. Good for you. Good for him.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: if you apply to Defiance with another character, don't troll the boards before hand and try to give a shit.

EDIT: Didn't see Justin's post, still DGF.

If you consider my attitude questionable and think the the Rizzo thing was a grand attempt to troll Definance, seriously that's fine. It wasn't but as you said, you don't know me, you don't know I'm not the kind to troll but I am the kind to post really stupid things that I find funny on the off chance someone else does.

Honestly, when I read "schtick" to describe an app, I can tell someones not already keen on my sense of humour, schtick's a word you use to undermine, really it's a word you use to crap on a guy. Which again, no issue, you don't like what I find funny, I'm sure a lot of people don't. I mean to sum up how I sensed there'd be a style/personality clash here:

"So the schtick is "Dirty" Dirk Dickwood is going to talk for HANK, the lovable mute monster with anime eyes, all while running a business/talent agency/something that I'm just not grasping?"

I really sat there and thought to myself "yes, that seems about right, don't see the problem". I mean, not to start a fight because that's far from my intention with this post but really, clearly I wouldn't gel with you if you view what I've done in this thread so far as being a trolling dick who only responds to his cliquey friends.

That's the thing, I can't really give a shit when it comes to stuff like this, this hobby to me is about trying to have some fun, writing for yourself and hoping others enjoy it. In this case, I was having some fun and yourself and Kahrytes didn't enjoy it, so really I just feel like there would be personality clash here and I'm not the kind of guy who seeks out battles and the last thing I want is to enter a place with anyone feeling like I'm a giant dick.

I hold absolutely zero ill will over this, even if you may.

I'm sorry this happened.

Being so serious isn't generally Defiance's SOP, but Rizzo's app just made things weird, and when things get weird people take jokes seriously and yeah. I hope you change your mind, and I would stand by my yes vote, but it's a completely fair point that Kevin and Zortalk are making too.

I better add this to the rules... le sigh. i hate instructions creep.

No worries at all. I complete respect where your guys are coming from, it's your place, you have a style and ethos that works for you, they don't think I'd fit that ethos, I get that.

As I said, I think you've got a great place here and you've clearly got passionate handlers. That's awesome but my gut last night and still remains this morning that it's just not a good fit, I'm not Spooky, I don't seek our wars and the last thing I'd want is an element of tension in a fed because of my app and my real life personality.
