Steve Knox had many people in his life, but few were held with greater respect than Alice Wright.

Alice was the only daughter of professional wrestler Karl Wright, the man who broke into the business with Steve's father, Earl Knox. Not long after Alice's birth, however, Karl suffered a severe back injury during a match that would later leave him in a wheelchair. Alice decided that she wouldn't ever enter the world of professional wrestling, so it made her life all the more infuriating to her that she had, in fact, entered the world of professional wrestling.

In truth, were Alice not such a perfectionist, she would've left the side of Steve Knox by now.

She had shot her intended documentry of the man over the Supercrash II weekend. However, she was left so dissatisfied with the results that she remained on the "team", long after finishing the original documentry.

Recently, a combination of a change of behaviour in Steve Knox, a series of unusual events, and Alice's frustration at her documentry have led her to question her impulsive decision to make a documentry about him. She wanted to do it becausr Steve was her best friend growing up, Here she was, an attractive blonde-haired girl that should be beating men away with a stick, stuck in a rut because of her own pride and sensibilities.

She wasn't the sort of person to let this sort of thing get her down, though.

She'd known Steve Knox since they were small children, barely able to walk, arguing with each other in baby-talk over who had the best building blocks ever. So, of course, she knew the significance of April 2nd, and she knew why she had to be out and about.

She just didn't know why she decided to do it with Marisa Silvernail.

March 30th, 2008; Providence, Rhode Island

Alice remembered the set of circumstances that led herself and Marisa Silvernail to a mall in Providence.

Steve Knox had been out of town for the past few days, electing not to include anybody in his "posse" in the festivities. It was unusual of him to leave behind his group, especially without letting them in on where he was going. Usually, the thing to do would be to ask the Cosmo Kid, the weird masked guy in the "posse", because he always seemed to know what was going on. However, just as quickly as Steve Knox had left did the Cosmo Kid seem to vanish, as well.

So, Alice returned home to Providence with Marisa Silvernail, Steve's bodyguard and other best friend.

Alice didn't honestly know how to feel about Marisa. Unlike Alice, who'd known Steve all of his life, Marisa met Steve Knox in high school, in their freshmen year. They fell in love for a time, but both of them had mutual obsessions that ultimately ended the relationship. Steve was training to become a professional wrestler during that time, while Marisa was a budding kung fu champion.

Alice had once been jealous of Marisa, because she was a lot of things that Alice was not. Marisa was charming, much stronger than she looked, was brave enough to try just about anything, and everybody seemed to like her. By contrast, Alice was moody, not very strong, a bit of a coward, and her mood swings often led to her losing a lot of friends or simply turning people off. Over time, however, the qualities in Marisa that Alice originally caused jealousy became qualities she admired.

Not long after Marisa was hired by Steve Knox to be his bodyguard, Alice made her impulsive decision to make a documentary about him.

It had been a little over six months since then.

Alice had just remembered that tomorrow was Steve's birthday, and she had no idea what she could get him. So, she called Marisa and asked her opinion, and the two agreed to meet at the mall.

Alice paced in front of the entrance of the mall. It was a cold day, and being someone who froze easily, Alice opted for a long-sleeved black sweater worn over a long purple dress. The skirt of the dress reached her ankles, covering the majority of her black boots. She wore a black cap over her head, and she carried her purple leather purse through a strap slung over her shoulder. Her features were sort of scrunched up, as if she was trying to find a way to deal with the cold. She shivered, and hugged her body for warmth.

She began to regret arriving first and telling Marisa that she'd meet her in front of the mall's entrance. If she hadn't been so short-sighted, she would have said "inside the mall".

Fortunately for Alice, she didn't have to freeze for longer than ten minutes.

Alice saw Marisa walking towards her, and breathed a cold sigh of relief. Marisa's long red hair was tied back into something like a ponytail. She wore a long-sleeved white blouse and a pair of jeans, with a pair of short, sort of stylish black boots. Marisa's black purse, like Alice's, was slung over her shoulder.

Marisa greeted Alice was a warm smile and a wave, "Hiya. Hope you weren't waiting too long."

Marisa could almost hear Alice's teeth chatter as she responded to Marisa's comment, "Not... not too long, no."

The two of them walked inside the mall. The mall had just opened its doors for the day, so it was relatively calm and peaceful, with few people wandering around. Alice and Marisa calmly walked down the mall, taking in the sights.

Finally, Alice decided to talk to the other girl, "We don't really hang out much, do we?"

"Hm, not really, no." Marisa responded. She wasn't cold or condescending in her response, and instead offered Alice a smile, "But then again, we're usually around some pretty odd people, so we never have time to just have a girl's day out."

Alice nodded, though she kept quiet as they reached a nearby jewelery store.

Marisa paused, "Maybe we could get him something glittery. You know how Steve is about gold."

"Can we even afford that?" Alice asked, an incredulous tone in her voice.

Marisa smiled at her in response, "Isn't it always the thought that counts, Alice? Really, Steve could use a pick-me-up in any form. Let's get him something that he'd call 'awesome'."

"Hmm. Well, you dated him. What do you remember him liking?" Alice asked. She asked the question mostly out of curiosity. She'd known Steve his whole life, but only as his closest friend.

"Wrestling." was Marisa's almost immediate response. The answer took down Alice's mood by a couple of notches, because it was an obvious answer. Alice knew that the only thing that really interested Steve Knox was wrestling. She'd known it all her life. Hearing it from a person who was Steve's first love did nothing to help her curiosity.

Marisa sensed Alice's disappointment, and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Steve was always more interested in me than himself, when it came to gifts. A guy like him will be happy with whatever you get him, so long as you care enough about it."

Alice hummed as she thought about it.

Marisa smiled, though she looked at Alice with a bit of an inquisitive look on her face, "You've known him way longer than I have, wouldn't you have known that?"

Alice didn't answer, since she didn't really have an answer for the other girl.

Instead, they went and browsed through the store, scoping out what was there. In the end, despite Marisa's advice, neither of them could think of anything within their combined wealth (of not that much). The two finally sat down at a bench to rest their feet.

Marisa turned to Alice, "What was he like as a kid?"

"Who?"

"You know who."

Alice thought about it, "When we were kids, Steve just wanted to be like his father. Hell, he'd try to wrestle me as a kid. That wasn't a whole lot of fun." Then she let herself sigh in frustration as she thought more about it, "All I wanted to do was play house, and he'd want to play Hell In A Cell or something stupid like that."

She grumbled, muttered, and looked away from Marisa. Marisa suddenly felt sorry from Alice when she heard her mutter the following words, "I bet that's where he got his stupid Gold Standard from, now that I think about it. Ooh, he made me so angry..."

Marisa couldn't help but giggle. Alice's attention turned to Marisa, and she briefly wondered just how somebody as legitimately dangerous as Marisa Silvernail could possibly have such a girlish laugh. Upon seeing Alice's stare, Marisa smiled at her, "Ahh, you two really were close. I'm kinda jealous of that."

"You? Jealous of me? You're strong, you're pretty, and you actually dated him. Me, I was just his chew toy growing up." Alice said, trying to laugh off Marisa's proclaimation.

"Alice, being strong isn't all that's cracked up to be. Doesn't it say something that Steve Knox was the only man I ever dated? I developed something of a reputation as a delinquent when I was growing up, you know. I beat up a lot of bullies. I was always trying to protect the people they'd pick on, but they'd run away scared of me whenever I saved them. I was always the one getting in trouble because of it, so most kids I knew growing up thought I was some sort of demon." Marisa paused, seemingly down when relating this story, before a smile slowly creeps up on her face, "Steve saw through that."

"What do you mean?" Alice asked.

"He'd heard the rumors, of course, but he didn't see me as a "demon". He saw me as the girl I was. I think he's why I'm like I am today." she said with a smile, "It's probably why I still love him, too."

Alice nodded.

"Of course." Alice said after a pause. She looked down at her knees. She didn't really have an idea of what to say from here, but she gave it her best shot, "But I..."

Alice couldn't even hear herself finish the sentence, where she would've said that she loved Steve Knox as well. Despite this, Marisa seemed to have picked up on it, anyway.

"Naturally, or else you wouldn't still be here, would you?" Marisa said.

Alice looked up at Marisa with a confused look on her face, "Huh?"

"You finished your documentary, right? Back in, oh, October, right? So, now it's the end of March and you're still here. Nobody's that much of a perfectionist, y'know." Marisa said. She stood up from the bench and stretched her arms out, "So, you're at least interested in him, right?"

Alice looked down at her feet, not really knowing what to say, and barely getting out something like a response to Marisa, "I... I don't know..."

She trailed off.

Marisa, placing her hands on her knees, leaned down so that her face met Alice's. Alice looked up, and could see Marisa's friendly smile, "Well, it probably wasn't fair for me to make assumptions. I'm sorry."

Alice looked up at Marisa. She didn't know how to feel about the fact that Marisa still remained friendly with her despite the fact that she'd made an assumption, but she did stand up, and looked at Marisa with a rather serious look on her face, "...Apology accepted."

After a short pause, Alice did her best to match Marisa's smile, "Hey, Marisa, I had an idea on what to get Steve."

"Did you?" Marisa asked, seemingly quite happy with Alice's proclaimation, "That's great! What did you have in mind?"

"Well, uh... it fits our criteria, if you want to know. It's glittery." Alice said, as she stood up. The two girls started to walk again, heading for Alice's destination, "I just need your help in picking materials."

"Materials?" was Marisa's lone question, as she was confused.

Alice gave the other girl something like a sly grin, very similar to the type of grin Steve Knox would often given, "Because I'm going to have to make this myself."

April 1st, 2008; Providence, Rhode Island

A few days later, Marisa Silvernail received a phone call from Alice Wright. She had finished what she'd set out to make.

When Marisa came to visit the blonde documentarian, she found Alice in a particularly good mood. Marisa had actually come in with a mild amount of surprise, because for a girl who claimed to be a perfectionist, the job Alice had just finished didn't take that long at all.

Alice showed her a wide box, about the size of a large flat-screen TV. Upon opening it, Marisa saw what Alice had made.

It was a leather vest, with the front lined with glittery studs. It was clearly made for a wrestler, specifically when they enter a ring. Upon lifting it up to get a closer look at it, Alice smiled at Marisa, "Turt it around and look at the back."

Marisa did as instructed.

The back of the vest read, very clearly, the name "KNOX" on the back. It was written in a stylish cursive, made up of the same glittery studs as the front of the vest. Marisa nodded in approval of Alice's craftsmanship, though she did have one question on her mind, "Are you sure this will fit Steve?"

"Sure am. It's tailored for him." Alice said.

Marisa was almost too flustered to ask her next question, "...How'd you get his measurements?"

Alice chuckled as as she took the vest back out of Marisa's hands and put it back in its box, placing the lid back on top afterwards. She then turned around and winked at Marisa.

"It's a secret."
