Handler Information

Name: Jonno
Email Address: Jonnyattwood@hotmail.com
Best Way to Contact You: Skype (obvs)

eWrestling Experience: 1997 - 2001 sort of floated around and was rubbish. 2001 - 2005 (VWF, ICWF, XWF), 2005 - 2008 (PTC assorted, PrYde, VWF), 2008 - 2013 (wilderness called life), 2013 - 2016 (UTA)

How did you find DEFIANCE? Every day I hear about it on one of the Skype windows and have (some would say) inevitably given into the inevitable. In all honesty have been following for a while, but never thought about angle fedding - I feel I'm ready and this is where all the good folks live

Are you willing to write matches? Yes

Writing Sample

Segment: here's one from UTA as this character (albeit I handled him briefly) http://wrestleuta.com/results/139#1626

Match: http://wrestleuta.com/results/140#1659 Walker v Sektor

Wrestler(s) Information

Ring Name: Lamond Alexander Robertson (L.A.R)
Height: 6ft 4
Weight: 267lbs

Hailing From: Pockton, Scotland

Alignment: Face

Gimmick: Proudly Scottish. A rookie wrestler trying to be a role model for his son, leaning the ropes and trying to make a career in technical wrestling. He trained for 1 year before joining UTA where Alex Beckmann broke his arm in a title match. He believes he wasn't ready then but now wants to do his best again to make his son proud

Wrestling Style: Power. Robertson is learning the finer points of the game. He wrestles on emotion, using his size and strength to his advantage but is no ring general or mat technician

Three Weaknesses: Lack of technical grounding so can be out wrestled on the mat. Weak in applying submissions. Naive sometimes in knowing the finer points of ring awareness.

Three Strengths: Heart - he has an abundance of it. Power - Robertson is very physical. Crowd - he is easily buoyed by the crowd

MOVESET

Ten regular moveset moves:

1) Elbow Smash
2) Belly to Belly Suplex
3) Gutwrench Suplex
4) Backbreaker
5) Clothesline
6) Neckbreaker
7) Stalling Vertical Suplex
8) Fireman's Carry
9) Hip Toss
10) Spinebuster

2-5 trademark moves:

1) Running Boot to the Face
2) Spear
3) Piledriver
4) Powerbomb to smaller opponents
5)

1 Finishing Move:

1 "Clansedge" - Burning Hammer (Kenta Kobashi's move)

Theme: "Promentory" by Trevor Jones

(Sorry if anyone read while I was editing - for some reason my iPad posted it on the forums when I started pasting in the writing links lol - empty application isn't much use)

HI JONNO!

A few things...

1. We're currently closed to singles applications, so speaking only for myself a singles app is going to have to really, really stand out for me to wave them through. The rest of the DEF Braintrust may feel differently, in which case I'm certainly open to being more lax.

2. How will this facey-face Scotsman be different than the other two facey-face Scotsman we now have on the roster in the Brothers Murrr? I think this is a big distinction that has to be made. Please also keep in mind that I am unfamiliar with his UTA stint.

3. The Burning Hammer as a primary finisher won't fly in DEFIANCE. I'm not sure if it should really be a primary finisher period but, regardless, for DEF purposes Dan Ryan has it as an MDK and has used it only twice (I think?) in the four (four, Brunk?) years the character has been in the fed. And, this will be a bit selfish, I really don't want to see anyone else in DEF use it because of the reason why Dan Ryan uses it. So you would need to be open to coming up with a different finisher for LAR if he gets accepted.

4. I would like to see you here but I need clarification on Point 2 and a different move for Point 3.

Regarding point 2 of Lindz's post, I don't see the Murrays' nationality being an integral part of their characters. I think they're more "faces who are Scottish," rather than "Scottish faces," if that makes sense. Like, you'd scarcely know they were Scottish if they didn't say "aye" and "lad" a lot.

For me, LAR wears his heritage on his sleeve a lot more evidently than the Murrays, and he is more defined by his nationality. LAR could only be a Scottish guy, but Andy and Cayle could really be from anywhere.

Not sure if I'm supposed to speak for Jonno here, but as the comparison was made, I felt I should say something.

Anyways, it's a yes from me. CVC is on the way out seemingly, which frees a spot up.

Agreeing with Murrr on all points - LAR is a Scottish babyface, while the Murray boys are babyfaces who just happen to be Scottish. I think there's enough distinction between the two.

A new finish will get a yes from me.

So here's the deal. I think LAR is defined by wayyyy more than his nationality. And I think Jonno will show that over time. So while I echo Lindz's earlier statement, it's not a hang up for me.

Neither is the finisher because we can address that after the fact. We've got quite a few people who like redoing movesets in this fed, so someone could help out for sure.

Also Dan is on his way out, Jonno could slide righhhhht on in. Feud wise and everything.

As long as Jonno develops the character, I don't know why we can't lock down a top flight handler who's never angled before. Seems the DEF Special now a day.

Vote: YES.

I love Jonno. I agree this app is pretty bland. I also am very familiar with the L.A.R. character. I dont want to be the guy who keeps voting yes on everybody, but I am voting yesssssss on this one!

Jonno fix your fucking app! :)

Typing with my 4 month old in my arms, so please forgive me.
i don't care about him being a Scotsman, no matter how many others already are.
your use of the burning hammer concerns me, because of Dan Ryan already uses it, and I'd have pause with it if i were still handling mike Sloan in DEF, it's not supposed to be a moved used often. So two people using it would be one too many. so many of us could move you to a better finish than that.
And is he still a rookie,if so BRAZEN should be where he goes for an arc, just to get him some seasoning. or else why have BRAZEN at all.

but a yes if all things are considered.

I'm in agreement with the other opinions above; the Burning Hammer is not suitable for the rookie character and, knowing Jonno, he can make this character work. So I'm a yes once the matter of the finisher has been addressed

Thanks for the face/Scots clarifications all you UTAHers. I'm satisfied with the responses, so Point 2's OK to disregard.

I do like Jon's suggestion of having LAR work some BRAZEN matches to get the rust off, especially since he's coming off an arm injury. We could work with that, transition it into something with Penn at the PPV (James' original suggestion to me for a feud). Good thinking there, kids.

Hey all thanks for all the points you guys, some good suggestions.

To answer the above:

1. I had a chat with James about this and he asked me to apply anyway given our previous discussions and that a spot might be opening up so I went ahead.

2. I spoke to Murrr and James about this before applying as wanted to make sure they were OK with "another Scot" with the Murrays and Box. I know a few of the guys have dealt with this one but essentially LAR is a poster boy for adversity. The Scottish thing is intense for him - it helps define his strength and pride and he is fiercely Scottish. To the point where he wears his Robertson colours to the ring. The Murrays as said dont let their nationalities define them in any great length and they are established stars whereas LAR is a rookie. The Murrays are for the people whereas LAR is for the working man, for family and of course for his heritage

3. Seeing the comments this is a no brainer. I'll change it - what about just to an inverse Death Valley Driver?

Brunk - I used to handle Jonny Kae in VWF :)

A lot of others have vouched for the app and just based off the sample, I can tell a difference between him and the Murrr Brothurrrs. Yes, says me! I also really dig the idea of this guy getting on BRAZEN myself.

I think you must have taken off before I got started there.

By taken off, I mean.... escaped.

lol if it wasn't for their closing the fed show that never happened I would never have returned to efedding - I was out for 5 years when Brad asked me to chip in for the last birthday bash

handled there in 2004-6 mainly
