MIKE'D UP: TRIGGER WARNING EDITION (AKA: Censorship In E-Wrestling)

Due to a veritable shitstorm of recent e-fedding events, spanning from HOW to UTA to... a lot of other feds that I suppose also exist... tonight's edition of Mike'd Up will be all about censorship and freedom of speech in e-wrestling.

I invite all FWrestling members to attend the chat, located at mixlr.com/highoctaneradio, or even to call into the show from Skype to share their views. We will be talking about the current state of freedom of speech as it applies to e-fedding, what is and isn't okay to talk about, and whether or not there should be any boundaries at all. Other topics will be intergender divisions in e-fedding, the difference between OOC and IC when it comes to racism, sexism, and homophobia, and many other topics that would otherwise never come up on High Octane Radio.

I think its all context and charicterization. My character Bronson Box is a pious misogynist dickhead. I present that as a major flaw, a flaw that shapes him as a villian. Someone to be reviled and booed. Box famously beat down a non-wrestler NPC lady producer after a huge loss several years ago. It was presented with disgust from the announcers, booos from the neck beard black t-shirt smarks we call DEF's "faithful", it was like "oh eww, Box is such a cunt, wow."

If the light you're shining on racism, sexism, or homophobia is done correctly and with the appropriate character delivering the message it can be effective and shocking and add tremendous depth. But it's a fine line and can fall flat and be gross. Just depends.
