WOOP! WOOP!
(that's the sound of the police!)

RELOADED 17 IS UP AND OUT.

Please leave discussions/reaction on the boards here.

So what's next?
A SPECIAL LUNCHTIME NFW PRESS CONFERENCE with President Dennis Edward Mayfield coming around noonish today will set the tone for the next two shows: BRAWL: BRUTE 66 (I just came up with that!) and RELOADED 18.

Look for that, and then the RP/INFO threads for the next series of shows will go up then.

Feel free to drop NFW FILMS promos for character reaction, but they'll be plenty to do soon.

Thanks for all the helping hands (you know who you are!) that pitched in to make this RELOADED full of surprises! As we get a better rhythm going, I'm sure cards will come together faster and smoother.

Hope you guys enjoyed this - let's get back on the boat now. Time for everybody to grab an oar.

A good show - looks like cracks are starting to show in the Hellfire and it's fun to note that despite all his bluster about being a chaos master than Legion - the Crowley 'worshipper' in Blaine lost to the world of the man that bought up Austin Osman Spire - a man that LEFt Crowley's group!

Solid show open - to be expected at this point. I know we've had concerts before for BRAWLAPALOOZA and the DOWN UNDER TOUR, but this was a different beast and went well. The WELCOME TO THE SHOW laid out the card and that's the point. I liked the SUICIDE JACKS, too.

(On a side note, the SUICIDE KINGS was such a great tag/tag name - coupled w/ that logo that Gregg rocks and you've got something sweet.)

TWO JACKS - I collab'd on this w/ Ford and it was a great time. Ford's one of those dudes that you write with once and then you want to keep writing with him. I think the segment setup what was going to happen later on in the show and that Harmen is so crazy/unpredictable.

DORCHESTER v. MALIK - I wrote this so I won't comment much, but I will say that I really like both these characters. A lot of history between the two and just a lot of NFW HISTORY in general.

CONTINUED? - LDO needed to come out of the gate HOT and boy, oh boy, did he ever. That was a damn good promo and that, with the huge win over Rook, puts him on the map in a big way. On to the Rook Black bit ... that was a cool moment. A real passing of the torch moment. Oh, I absolutely love the new belt, too!

GAME OVER. INSERT COIN - Sad to see Rook go, but love to see Blaine in a HARD SPOT!

THE HELLFIRE CLUB v. THE GRAVEROBBERS - I like this Graverobbers team. Would like to see Bandit developed a bit more, have more of a voice. I get Devastator not talking much, but Bandit's BEEN AROUND and he's got secrets/shit to talk about! I'm glad the titles came off Rook/Blaine and the Graverobbers are a good choice to replace them. Make it happen, Matt!

MAYFIELD/DEVILLE v. THE GUILD - Some really good moments in this one between JJ and Eddie. Classic. Alex Austin looks very strong in this one and that's a great bump for him. More importantly, CASTOR STRIFE! Love that! Glad to have him back. He's such an important piece in the NFW. I want to know who CASTOR STRYFE is - looks like Billy is cooking up a great angle here!

IMPULSE v. JB - Teamed on this one w/ JN. Enjoyed writing it. It obviously sets up what's going to be happening on RELOADED 18. Impulse outsmarts JB. JB muscles Impulse around. I'm glad to see JB getting dinged up - as Brusch mentioned a card or so ago, he doesn't feel like he should be 100% and he's not. That said - he's NEVER, EVER going to say that. That's JB for ya. That BELT TOSS --> LOCOMOTIVE was sick. Good main, good ending.

First show back is in the books! Let's keep it rolling, gents!

Matt -

Looking forward to it!

What's your take on Castor Strife's return? and, being the NFW History Buff that you are, any of the clues dropped by CASTOR STRYFE ringing a bell for you?

This is way late, but I didn't get to read the card while I was in France. Friggin honeymoon getting in the way of business and shit...

OPENING VIDEO MONTAGE - This was one of the best we've done in a long time. The descriptions all gave a pretty good idea of what's going on at the moment with each character, and even included bonus material (like Peter Windham getting on stage during the Jay-Z concert, which was originally supposed to be a segment that I never got around to writing). I also loved how the song broke into a distorted voice quoting Macbeth. Funny thing is, on Manson's last album he intro'd a song with that exact quote, with a distorted voice. Made me think of that. Very cool.

WELCOME TO THE SHOW - Didn't really go into much other than the main event, but I did like the acknowledgement of backstage/dirtsheet drama, and the fan signs ("FUCK THE FRONT OFFICE!"). That had me laughing. Nice little nod to the forum drama that just ensued, lol.

THE TWO JACKS - Great segment. Had me laughing when Harmen and Bryant temporarily teamed up to fight back security, then went back to killing each other. These two play off each other real well, and I like that Harmen berated Bryant over the injury thing. That should definitely be something people mention to Bryant.

DORCHESTER vs. MALIK - Solid win for Dorchester, decent action.

CONTINUE? - Excellent first promo as champion for Ocho. He's not just holding the belt, but using it to flesh out the story of his character, and it will be interesting to see how the belt changes Ocho for the better or worse; what kind of challenges it will bring him. I get the sense that LDO is still learning a lot about himself. The videogame belt is perfect. LDO might be the People's Champion by year end.

GAME OVER. INSERT COIN - The handler abruptly retired, so that's how it came off for Rook. Out of nowhere, with very little sense to it. This is usually where the long-time secondary belt holder makes it known that he's seeking higher ground, but instead, the Nat/Triple Crown title will be his legacy, and the end of his career. Not my favorite seg, but it did the job.

HELLFIRE CLUB vs. THE GRAVEROBBERS - Awesome! Graverobbers are an exciting new team, reminiscent of Hellmachine in so many ways (dominant tag champs from NFW 1.0), and I feel like the tag division has a little bit of new life to it. Could this be the end of "super teams" and a return to archetypal pairings with a gimmick all their own?

EDDIE/JJ vs. THE GUILD - This went down as well as I could have hoped for. PW forgetting the rules and shit was hilarious. All the relevant background info coming into the match was covered, such as Steel Viper's heat with JJ, his past with Eddie, etc. Alex Austin was written well - a grappler who can't brawl too well and has bad ring generalship. Eddie and JJ are like oil and water as a team, and that was basically their downfall. Great to see Alex Austin score the pin with his submission finisher; that was a nice touch. The return of Castor was bad ass, basically merking JJ. The shove on Austin was also key, and we'll learn more on that later. ;-) Finally, STRYFE capped it off with a promo that I thought hit the right tune - short, cryptic, intriguing.

IMPULSE vs. JACK BRYANT - For a moment I thought JB was going to pull it off, and that's what you really want to get out of these championship matches - the sense that anything could happen. The match was very well written, full of great action, and as dumb as it probably sounds now, I really did not see the setup for a three way dance coming. I honestly thought JB would win and go on to face Harmen. This entire card put over Harmen vs. JB as a MATCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO and the fact that Impulse will be defending his title against both guys launches it into a different stratosphere altogether. That will be one of the biggest matches in NFW history, and I can't wait.

This was one of the better Reloadeds we've done in a while. Way to bounce back from all the drama, and just get back to putting out great material. Props to everyone involved.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to feed in a back-sort-of-way. The folks have been in town for the last 4+ days and I successfully completed the Chicago Marathon this past Sunday (which pushed me to previously-unexperienced levels of exhaustion that have made writing anything impossible). So here we go:

OPENING MONTAGE - Always fun. These things are always great for little sneak-previews of the card and for small little character development details. It always makes an NFW show feel like a big friggin' deal, and that's what it should be.

WELCOME TO THE SHOW - Short and sweet. Solid preview of the world title picture, but would've liked a little bit more focus on the EMT title match than one sentence.

TWO JACKS - "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!" will ALWAYS make me smile, no matter the context (and the context was perfect here). These guys are coming off as unstoppable forces, and I'm a big fan of Harmen's new all-red look as he turns his chaos-meter to full 11. Great segment.

STRATTON v. MALIK - No surprises here; you get the impression that after the crazy best-of-five series with its literal near-death finish, it's going to take some major momentum from someone to threaten the TV champion. Lots of offense from Malik early, but Stratton's able to wile it out in the end. Nice little match.

CONTINUE? - Glad y'all liked the promo, and a thank-you to JN for looking at my first draft and basically responding with "put more shit in there". The Ocho-Tron was an idea that I've blatantly ripped off from Voss and the IGC days, but I think it can lead to cool things. LOVE THE BELT THANK YOU PANTS WHEREVER YOU ARE, it's going to be a really awesome storytelling device. Did not expect the end section with Black shaking LDO's hand and walking off to the sunset; my perpetual expectation is for LDO to end all segments beaten and bloody in the ring, so it was a cool moment.

GAME OVER. INSERT COIN - As Michael Scott would say, "Oh, how the turntables, have... ........". Something tells me this isn't the end of Rook, but what do I know.

HFC v. GRAVEROBBERS - Just a superquick demolition, which is exactly what this should've been. Awesome to see the Graverobbers as tag champs, I like the vibe of the team a lot with Legion at the helm (and interested to see where he individually goes from here). Also, Lamont flipping his shit is always worth smiling about.

EDDIE/JJ v. THE GUILD - Peter motherfucking Windham...when he's involved with something, you know it's going to be entertaining. The right guy ate the pin, and good to see Alex Austin pick up some momentum here. The real story was after the match, as ZOMG CASTOR'S BACK, etc...fascinated to see why he would shun Alex, but I'm positive that Billy's cooking up cool stuff with this storyline. My earliest hunch is that Castor 'Stryfe' is Rook Black; however, all earliest hunches are notoriously incorrect red herrings, so I really have no idea who it will be. Still, I hope whoever it is (whether it's Rook or not) continues with Black-themed one-liners..."I'll make sure your coffee gets served...black", etc.

IMPULSE v. JACK BRYANT - Great match and a great way to continue this feud. Loved the finish to the match, love where the feud is going, really looking forward to the threeway dance, can't say enough positive here.

Cheers!
