On March 21, 2010, at Culture Shock in London, England, the single biggest match in professional wrestling took place at Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of nearly 100,000.
And fitting to the PPV’s namesake, the results of the Dual Halo shocked the foundations of PRIME. Emerging from the aftermath of such brutality, PRIME is poised for a new beginning.
In the midst of Vangelus Olsig’s incredible Halo victory, and fueled by a Universal Championship belt left sitting in a vacant locker room following Culture Shock, rumors have begun to run rampant on the impending retirement of the legendary Jason Snow.
PRIME officials wasted no time in dealing with the rumors.
“It’s time to end this story” said Devin Shakur, a member of PRIME’s governing board, and a former Universal Champion himself, “and begin the new book.”
And so, on April 16th, officials announced plans for the next era of PRIME. A Universal Title Invitational
Born Again will be a dual bracket tournament spanning the month of May, leading to the UltraViolence PPV. The event will feature two separate paths to immortality. One bracket will feature PRIME stalwarts, the other… any and all newcomers.
“There will be no protected spots, no protected hierarchy or pecking order.” Lisa Tyler, Head of Talent Relations stated. “We’re shaking things up, and we’re offering any member of the PRIME roster an amazing opportunity to immediately position him or herself in the main event spotlight. Whether you’ve been with is for five years or five minutes.”
The winners of each bracket will receive a spot in the main event of UltraViolence, squaring off against Dual Halo winner, Vangelus Olsig, for the vacant Universal Championship.
“The Universal Championship is one of the most illustrious in the history of this business. Held by all-time greats such as Jason Snow, Tchu, Killean Sirrajin, Nova, Lindsay Troy, Sonny Silver, Devin Shakur, Chandler Tsonda, Karina Wolfenden… the list goes on and on.” Tyler added. “And someone is going to get a shot at that championship after their first month with the federation.”
Here’s the basics, guys.
PRIME is looking to recharge and turn the page. We’re looking for interested parties who are willing to join the PRIME roster and help lead us in this new era. The Born Again tournament is NOT a one-off deal like the Halo. We’re looking for people who are interested in joining the full-time roster.
If you’ve handled in PRIME before, and would like to return with a character who was previously on the roster, you’ll be placed in the “Stalwarts” bracket. If you’ve handled in PRIME but want to use a character new to PRIME, or, if you have never handled in PRIME before, you’ll be placed in the “New Era” bracket.
The winners of each bracket will receive a Uni title shot in the main event of UltraViolence. The runner- ups in each bracket will receive 5 Star and Intense title shots respectively.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never written one word in PRIME, you could be just three or four victories away from the Universal Championship. We’re blowing up the idea of “the standard stuff”. We’re breaking any glass ceilings. We’re overhauling, and we’re serious about it. We want fresh ideas, good attitudes, and people willing to work hard and have fun as PRIME is Born Again.
