[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-30-02 AT 01:46 AM (EDT)](FADE-IN: Mark Windham kneels in front of the main entrance to Chad Merritt's personal office at CS Towers. Mark's hair is in a ponytail and dyed red. The World title is thrown over his left shoulder, resting across a white sleeveless silk shirt with "Medicated" lettered across the chest. Windham winks at the camera, as his right hand rubs over a crease in his black leather pants.)

"Sean, since you’re a long time viewer of U-62, it’s fair to say you were raised on the image of me kicking somebody’s tail.

Everybody has a role model growing up. Somebody they hope to emulate in situations where they’re able to.

As Troy’s fond of saying, I don’t ‘get’ his generation. Maybe not, but you see, back in my day we looked up to the winner. If you’re actually dumb enough to try and stress the seriousness of any situation to me, then it’s obvious you fell in love with the poor soul being beaten under my thumb, and made to bleed a river.

Hell I don’t know, maybe you pitied those guys and even sat in your room for hours trying to break down their personality and whether they made friends easily.

It was the first day you saw them being carted out of the arena that you promised to be their friend. No matter what. Friends stick by each other in the event of another senseless beating.

I think your pity for them went further. Did you write a letter to them Sean? Did you buy a ticket to a CSWA event in your hometown and work a homemade sign past the airtight security? If they could just see the show of your support, they wouldn’t hurl their broken body off the nearest ledge.

You became their fan, and if I had to guess I’d say all these years later, you’re still writing and sending thank you cards to them for being the inspiration you needed to get out of your parents sitting room and talking your way into the ring with me.

See, this is where the story comes full circle. Because in Charleston it’ll be you that I have under my thumb, and broken open to my demands. And somewhere, the next Triple XXX will sit on a couch and take pity on the sight of the poor soul who’s butt is being handed to them by the World Champion Mark Windham.

And yes, you too will soon get letters from a new fan.

“Dear Sean,

You were robbed. I know the title can’t switch on a DQ, but Juarez should have stopped that mess long before he did. Longtime fan here who thinks if you could have held on for another twenty minutes you would have eventually wore Windham down.

Much love to Ivy, and thanks for keepin’ it real for the dreamers of the world.

Yours truly,

Another hopeless case”

And you said I didn’t know you.

I do know you. I just don’t give a da*n about you.

There’s a difference, and you can thank Merritt when you find out.

You’re coming to Charleston to win? That’s good. I’d be worried if you weren’t.

Here are my intentions.

I’m coming to Charleston to relocate my smile.

Now, you can fly off the top rope or do your best impersonation of Aho, I don’t care one way or the other. I just want you clear on the fact that I’m planning on working out some residual anger I have from Fish Fund.

It’s possible for me to do two things at once. I know, I know...part of the seriousness of the situation was not to center on Troy. There’s a handbook you’re given when you first sign with the CSWA that actually devotes a line to “Looking past a dreamer and on to a brother with whom you have issues.” I read the manual. I say that advice is useful for people in your shoes, but when you’re the World champion, you should be able to multi-task.

Lucky me, I can.

So thanks for the warning, but it seems I’ll have to deal with my issues for a little longer. Point being, I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to picture Troy while beating the hell out of you.

I haven’t been hiding or playing it cool by staying silent. Cool was never much my game. That’s Troy’s demon to feed.

I’ve spent the last little while shining my World Title, and preparing myself to be put on the corner of every market and sold. I’ve slowly started to realize how much has to be given up when you’ve been chosen to lead a company that’s slowly gone blind, back to the point where they can see exactly how far they’ve strayed from the light.

I’m the World champion Sean. You’re dying to say that aren’t you? Of course you are, otherwise you wouldn’t be telling me how lucky I am to be wearing these shoes.

Well, Stevens, I’ve died a little each day since the first time I wore this belt.

What? You think this will make you whole? This will prove there was a means to the dues you paid? This will give you the freedom you’ve been searching for to finally tell Ivy, and anyone who wants to listen how you feel? This title is nothing Sean. Worse, it stands for nothing.

I find it funny we’ve got a hundred different fractions all running amok, each of them wanting to tear down the CSWA, brick by brick. What nobody seems to realize, and what this belt truly says is that the destruction was completed long ago.

Now, you wanna fight for pride, respect, or self-assurance, I can take that trip with you. But, if your sole desire to beat me is to have the legal means to strap this around your waist, I pity you. Because I do know you Sean, and I lied earlier. A part of me cares. I don’t want to see one of the few men around here who doesn’t run from the truth, locking this around their gut and treating it as a tell-tale sign of their self-worth.

Don’t desire to be the World Champion of the Lost. In other words, Sean...don’t be me.

I am dumb enough to put my Lost Soul against the wall to rebuild. And as it stands now, those who want to rip each brick I put up, away, well...they gotta go through me.

I enjoyed the bio on the fly, but excluding the Windham family Saga that we’re all sick of hearing about, here’s a snippet about me.

The reason I’m standing here holding this belt that stands for as much sanity as I feel on a given day, is I’m near the end. I’m near the end of a search to be able to look in a mirror and not cringe. To be a Dad my daughter is proud of, a lover Sunshine finds comfort in, and a man the truth has a home in.

How does that happen?

Gradually, then suddenly.

To get there this profession has to become more than a special interest. I have to have meetings with Merritt about who I’ll wrestle and where. I have to sign off on the idea of what part of me gets sold wherever I do. It may mean I have to show up on time and play the Human X-file, or break another neck to further the cause that I’m psycho, and if so, so be it.

Essentially, a man that’s been accused of finding strength in the shadows has to step forward and find the same strength in front of a new pair of eyes, every day.

I fought for this belt, because I can make it mean something again. That may lead to me being pushed to see how far I can go, but honestly, it’s past time I was lead to do what I know is right. In the process I’ll get dirty, but when the search is over, everybody wins.

Everybody, but you Sean, in Charleston."

(The once fluid movement of Mark Windham goes static, a bit of snow forming lines across the screen. The camera cuts and we see The man called Deacon hitting the pause button on the video.)

DEACON: Lucky you, I ... can... too.

(Deacon sits the remote down on a small coffee table and then looks back to the camera.)

DEACON: Maybe you correct... it a skill learned by champion and mastered by former champion. I know this not my battle. In reality, I not have any business with you. But as I hear what you said, it affect me. It offend me.

(Mark comes back to life on the video screen.)

>What? You think this will make you whole? This will prove

(We cut back to Deacon who is shaking his head in disbelief.)

DEACON: You know not'ing of what that belt represent. It not represent you, or Merritt. That 'peice of tin' you wear say that you best in CSWA. I know, cause I held it. Even that GXW title stand for something. It mean that Dan Ryan, the man who hold it, is the best in GXW. If that belt mean not'ing to you, then what that say about CSWA best. You demean in ways worse than GXW ever could. You stand as best we have, whether I or anyone in locker room like it or not, and you say that it not'ing.

(We cut to Mark who begins to speak again.)

>I fought for this belt, because I can make it mean something

(Back to Deacon.)

DEACON: Lucky us, we be able to win with you leading way. Now, You explain your earlier statement. You fought for belt so YOU, oh mighty one, could build up it prestige again. It had been tainted by weak champions.

(Deacon pauses for a moment, looks down to gather his thoughts, and then looks back to the camera, anger in his eyes.)

DEACON: You ARROGANT VIPER! I not man I was when I held that belt, but when I left, I left after fighting EVERYONE that want shot. Before me, Eli FLair put that belt on shoulder and CSWA on BACK! After me, Steve Radder defeat many great men to say, "HE the BEST!" And then Evan Aho shock world by shattering predictions and winning that belt you hold in such disrespect. He carry it to great valor by all who wrestle against and with him in CSWA.

(Deacon looks away, continuing to shake his head angrily.)

DEACON: And you tell US that you will make it MEAN something. If only way THAT BELT mean something is for YOU to hold it, then you right. It MEAN not'ing, not'ing to me until someone take the legacy you step on and shove it down your foul mouth. Not believe me? (Deacon turns back to the camera.) I hope not, cause I can think of not'ing better than God let me be man to give you all EVIDENCE you need... in... ring.
