The voice came over the speaker, bringing a smile to Starks' face. Being on the airplane, knowing the next familiar face he saw, would be the one that lead him to the woman of his dreams, it was like he was flying through heaven now. Starks quickly popped the laptop in front of him open, happy now with his decision to go ahead and buy it, along with the wireless internet he had with it. He took a quick glance around, nobody anywhere near him due to getting his seat moved up to first class. That money from Laug was coming in good use now. Such a fool he was, falling for that contract, and losing millions when they all walked the same night.
Starks unhooked his head phones from the radio over his head and hooked them into his computer, his smile growing as he clicked on a name on his yahoo messanger and invited them to voice chat. Within seconds, they were connected, and he heard the woman's voice speak through the speakers.
"Hi!"
"Hey Belle. How're you?"
"I'm fine. You?"
Hearing that familiar, albeit ghostly Romanian accent caused him to let out a slight chuckle. He'd grown used to this over the past few months. Some of his happiest times were talking to her on voice lately. She was quite possibly the only one he considered a friend, and the only one he could talk to about anything, and everything that was happening in his life.
"I'm doing great. I hear you're going to see her?"
It would seem word travels fast, not really surprising Starks at all at this point. He was slightly amused at just how fast word of his trip had gotten around, considering he hadn't mentioned it to anyone. Must have been Sarah and Neah talking about it, and Starks brushed it off that easily.
"Yea Belle. On the plane as we speak."
"Going to ask her when you get there?"
"Psht. Doubt it. Not a good time really. Too much has gone on lately, what, with the whole Cass thing, and you know, just...everything."
Starks let out a sigh, slowly sliding the jacket sleeve up to look at the tattoo on his forearm, seeing the three names, Neah, Cass, and his own, formed into a heart.
"Really doubt she wants to hear that **** right now."
"You'de be amazed hun."
"Look. Simple fact. I made her feel like she wasn't good enough for me when I decided to take on a pet as well. Made it even worse when I hit on a third girl. Not to mention the depression I've been in since I lost Cassandra. You know what that did to me, and you know I can't just..ask her what I need to ask her right now. Let's get real."
He let the sleeve fall back over the tattoo and lowered his head, staring down at the keyboard, trying to shake the images of the past out of his head. All the things he'd let happen, and it all lead him to this. This nothingness he felt now when it came to right at all of it.
"Just ask her. I'm sure you'll be surprised."
"Someday Belle. Thanks though. it's great to have someone around that I can really talk to. You never even try to understand who I am under this outfit. You understand who I am with it. That means a lot hun."
"I know Starks. Look. I have to go. Boyfriend is here. Talk to you later?"
"Yea. I'll catch up to you soon as I can, let ya know how she's doing. Have fun ****ing, and all that good ****."
Starks unhooked the cable and hooked it back into the overhead radio, slowly closing the laptop back before taking his pack of Newports out of his pocket and putting one slightly in his mouth, letting it hang from the side as he chuckled.
"Might not be able to light this damn thing, but hey. Thou Shalt Go Nowhere Without Thy Newport."
