The Sergeant
"A Show For The Troops"
(In Mosul, Iraq on their own dime, The Sergeant and “Phenomenal” Frankie Scott are putting on an exhibition match for the troops… Realizing that these two wrestlers paid to give this show, the soldiers of an unidentified unit in Mosul are cheering louder than most crowds ten times their size… Twenty-five minutes into the match, both men are exhausted… On opposite ends of the ring, they use the ropes to pull themselves up and move back toward the center… Frankie Scott kicks the Sergeant in the gut and prepares him for a pile driver, but before executing he is back body dropped… The Sergeant drops to the mat as well, and both men lay prone… Scott on his back and The Sergeant on his stomach… The Referee counts as the crowd joins in…)
Referee (with crowd): 1…
2…
3…
4…
5…
6…
7…
8…
9…
TEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(The bell rings as both men are helped to their feet… The crowd is ecstatic and really shows their appreciation for such an exhibition by two Empire Pro Wrestling athletes… The Sergeant, who is just starting to regain his senses, calls for the microphone…)
The Sergeant: Hooah!
(He points the mic in the direction of the crowd… They all go crazy…)
TS: Those of you that pay any attention to EPW know that I haven’t had a match like this since I debuted. Frankie Scott is one hell of a competitor. We both continue to push each other to new limits. It has been an honor to bring this to you all. I know I left here just two short years ago, about a year after the start of the war, but I want you all to know that I haven’t forgotten any of you.
(The crowd pops…)
TS: After my part in the war, I decided to take a more individual approach on my own war against the bad things in this world. My first stop was somebody I am sure you all would call your friend… he’s a hometown hero around these parts. Do you know him? Tariq Ismail, everyone?
(Crowd gives heel heat unmatched anywhere…)
TS: That’s what I thought. I promise to continue supporting all of you. You have been my life since I got out of high school. We’ve all lived and fought together. Now that I’m moving on to another career, I’ll keep all of you in mind.
First it was Tariq Ismail that I set my sights on. After I finished there, The “Phenomenal” one and I were paired up by Dan Ryan in order to get our careers jumpstarted in EPW. I think it’s worked out nicely. We’ve got our practice in… now it’s time to move on to new things.
My new roadblock comes in the form of Boogie Smallz.
(A mixed reaction stirs through the crowd… He smiles…)
TS: That’s what I thought. Some of you like Boogie. I respect that.
The guy has been around for a long time and made a name for himself with that one-of-a-kind attitude he competes with. I don’t know tons about the guy, but I can respect his game. There aren’t too many former world champions that can’t wrestle. I know this.
I’ve been keeping track of the O-G, this past month or so, and it hasn’t been a good week for him. He had trouble with the threesome he fought so hard to participate in at Aggression 21, and I’ve even heard word that he suffered a loss to a crazy Russian elsewhere in the wrestling world. I know he’s gonna be gunning for me come Onslaught. I’ve got to be ready.
You see as much as I might not respect the methods, understand that game recognize game, Boogie. You’ve got a history of winning, regardless of this past week. All this week does for you is gets you hype to tear somebody up… and it looks like Onslaught might be the venue.
(A few shouts of encouragement come out from the crowd…)
TS: I hear you. (laughs…)
I’ll be ready. In the end it always comes down to the skills, focus, and desire of the competitors squaring off in the ring. When it comes to those three attributes, there is nobody that has more of them than me. I don’t care if Tupac himself descended from the clouds and into the ring next week. I’m winning that match, Boogie. You need to find another opponent if your looking to reclaim your place at the top.
Everyone here in Mosul today, whether we are talking about my good friend Frankie here…
(Crowd pops…)
TS: The Iraqi’s outside of this compound… or the thousands of troops standing here defending my freedoms…
(Huge POP!)
TS: Everyone knows that you won’t beat me. It’s impossible at this stage in my life, bro. Your methods are underhanded while the man you will be looking across the ring at next week… well, he’s:
Combat Tested
Mother Approved
You better “reck-a-nize”.
(Another huge pop from the crowd as The Sergeant raises the mic in the air in defiance.. He looks over at Frankie Scott with a smile on his face, and hands him the mic…)
