OITNB season 1 was good, but too much focus on the main characters (who suck). Season 2 fixed that and delved into the whole prison, so it felt more like a toned down version of Oz.

That was my main issue with it. I cared about every other character except Piper, Larry, and Alex, who doesn't even show up until the last 1/4 of the book in an entirely different prison setting than the one presented on OITNB. I need more time to lapse between when I finished Season 1 and whenever I watch Season 2.

For Agents of Shield, that first 15 episodes or so were shit (exemption: Ep with Lady Sif cause she's gorgeous) -- the end of the series makes the season better, and probably puts the first "shitty" 15 episodes into a new light so they aren't as shitty as the first time.

James said something similar on IM, echoing what I'd heard from friends back in the spring. I'll probably give the rest of the season a chance. I could only watch so much of Clark Gregg and Ming-Na Wen carrying the rest of the cast that I had to stop.

FXX has The Simpsons marathon and I am loving the fuck of the old episodes. I know the Stonecutter's theme and I give zero fucks who knows it.

New Doctor Who? started tonight. Very interesting and as I said to Evan last night, I hope they eventually show us the events of the 50th Anniversary episode from the 12th Doctor's POV.

The whole episode just so subtly and beautifully addressed all the Smith/Tennent fan girls that were whining and crying about the Doctor being an "old person"... goddamn brilliant start for season eight. I was so over the Doctor and his companion being this vague lovey dovey relationship. The more stately older professorial sort of Doctor is going to be such a breath of fresh air.

Seeing as 9 was "my" Doctor, this change over to Capaldi has me just fucking giddy.

I'm trying to get into Doctor Who. Started with the 9th doctor but haven't finished Eccleston's season yet.

I REALLY want to like it but I'm not there yet, so if you all have any tips for me please share.

The episode "Dalek" is the one where Eccleston really shined in this role. I was the same when I tried getting into the show but that episode helped me get into it. Tennant is still my favorite since the reboot and a lot of the episodes with him are damn awesome.

Good to know. I checked IMDB and that's the sixth episode of Eccleston's season so I've got a couple more to go before I get there. I'll keep plugging along, then.

Season 1 is campy and the monsters look fake. As the show went on, the stories got darker, the art direction got smarter, and the stories got more convoluted. But I've loved the ride. Plus the character is just chock full of fun.

I binge watched seasons 1 & 2 and mostly got hooked cause of Tennent. "The Angels have the Phone Box" is an incredible episode of that series. If you watch that and you're disinterested, eh, you probably won't like much else.

The doctor is only as good as his companions, and personally, I like Amy / Rory the best. Even though Matt Smith might be least favorite version of the doctor (from 2005 only, and I exclude John Hurt / Peter Capaldi from the conversation -- I particularly liked the first ep from series 8 so we'll see).

A good Doctor Who episode is like an amusement park ride of nonsense.
